Nice Mix of Holes
Was not sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised with Marysville. Course is relatively flat but creates variety with a mix of straight holes and dog legs. There are a few water hazards to deal with but nothing too difficult. Course was in good shape. Greens were fast enough to be fun to putt but not so fast to be unfair. Bunkers seemed to be good to play from. Two minor complaints. Tees were very very hard and there is no range. Neither is enough to keep me from returning. Definitely on my play list now.
Wow!!!
First time here. This course was in spectacular shape. Staff was great!! Course is right by the water. Can't wait to go back!!
The greens on the course were excellent, the only reason I rated it low, was because the course was very wet.
decent course good price
Price was great, course was in good shape, reasonably scenic, and fairly challenging
Impressed
Greens are in great shape the course is fairly dry still some tee box issues but overall enjoyed it p.s. the crossfire grill is to die for wow!
Fun course
Perfect day for a fun round of golf.
Greens were in great shape and lighting fast.
Al and all a good time.
Nice Course, Awful Staff
This is a decent tract for an 'old timey' course. The holes were varied enough to make it interesting. Decent fairways, decent greens. Elevation changes and some easy forced carries over natural areas. It would have been a nice golfing experience if not for the staff.
Approaching the clubhouse, we were barked at by the cart attendant, "what time is your tee time!" I told him and he immediately argued. "No it's not, you're wrong. We already have a group at that time." The attitude continued in the clubhouse. We got the old, "Oh, you're one of them 'Golfnow people.'" Apparently they weren't aware that after Golfnow books a 2 some, they sell the other 2 spots as well. They made us feel like we were ruining their day and we were such an inconvenience to them by having the nerve to try to leave some money there.
We tried to forget about all of that and enjoy the course. We were following a twosome and all went well. For 3 holes. We got to number 4 and it was a big delay. The ranger showed up and asked if the single behind us could join up with us. He reasoned that that would slow us down and so we wouldn't have to wait as much. I asked if the whole course was slow and he said said "no, just these 3 holes," so I asked about the twosomes playing through. He got indignantly snotty and said "NO! On weekends Foursomes have priority." There were 2 slow as molasses foursomes in front of the twosome ahead of us, it would have been a six hour round. I politely advised him that, per the rules of golf, a twosome has priority and his smug response was, "NOT HERE!" Not wanting a 6 hour round, we skipped the next two holes and enjoyed the wide open course.
At the turn, the ranger ran up to me and handed me a sheet of rules, pointing out rule 2, no skipping holes, and rule 3, foursomes have priority. Apparently rule 4, allow faster players to play through, doesn't apply on weekends.
I think it insane that, on a wide open course, we were expected to follow the only 2 foursomes out there and play at their pace.
Fortunately, he didn't say anything to us the rest of the round, but continued to follow us like we were criminals stealing from them and ruining their peaceful, customerless day. It seems the only purpose of the ranger was to ensure slow play.
The course was enjoyable enough, one I could see myself playing often, but, I don't know if I'll be back due to the combativeness of the ranger. The whole atmosphere of the course was that it was private and for 'members'(locals) only and we were unwanted there.
Awesome layout!!
Excellent course for the money. Greens are well maintained, some are very tricky. Would drive 40 miles again to play this course!
Good variety
Have been playing here for 30 plus years. Always a pleasure to play!
Okay
Wouldn't rush back. Not much else to say
Freduardo and jahonny At Marysville
Great conditions for an old time course. Very unassuming , greens are true and undulating with green fairways and rough.pace of play is fast less than 3-1/2 hrs. Great view of the river and a touch cooler because of being on the river. Always in good shape. Oh and good Bbq at the turn
Great Value. Home town feel. Great Municipal course!!!
Traveling up 94 towards Port Huron you can play Marysville for a very fair rate. 18 scenic holes. Shot 80 from 6550 yards. Very fair and fun course. Got a lot of rain the days before but course drained well and played just fine. Mildly undulating greens make putting fun and they were rolling quite nicely. 18th hole was redesigned that it looks nice. Favorite hole is no. 7 short par 3 of 140 yards do a severe green in dry conditions. A great Parkland style course which offers nice conditions at a municipal price tag. Golfnow is a value deal too.
slow play
Took over 5 hours to play 18 and no ranger in sight. Paid 26 and was still irritated. I would NEVER pay their 39 standard rate.
Great Course
For a public course, it is well maintained. The staff are very friendly. Recommend at the turn to get a sandwich from the smoke hut. ( pulled pork is awesome )
louzy course
Very bad conditions. The course was very wet even after a week of nice weather.
The layout is terrible. If you are a first time visitor you can expect to get lost on a few holes.
I would not go back.
Very easy on the eyes
We were on time, and got off quickly. The office manager was very helpful and friendly. The course is interesting, with some difficult greens.
Will be golfing a new course for now on
This has been my go to course to play but recently bought a tee time for 9 and a cart off golf now for $13 they refused to let me play for that price and insisted I pay the current going rate. This wasn't the first time I used Golfnow to play here for the very same price so I was very confused, staff was unpleasant and cranky about it. so I pay an online fee to find out that the worker won't allow me on the course without squeezing every dollar he can from 1 for 9 and a cart. Needless to say I will be going to the numerous other good courses in the area for now on. I also won't miss the backhoe and bulldozers that are working on 5 of the 18 holes.
