Myth Golf & Banquet - Regulation Course
About
The Myth Golf & Banquet, formerly known as Beaver Creek, tumbles across rolling hills. Situated next to Lake Orion, the golf course sits on protected land that is home to an abundance of wildlife, including sandhill cranes. There is both an 18-hole championship course and a nine-hole par-3 course. In 2007, when the Myth was established, several improvements were made to the championship layout, improving its conditions and making it more challenging. The scenic golf course features boardwalk cart paths that cut through beautiful pine forests. Don't get too distracted by the scenery though because there is plenty to keep you busy including multi-tiered greens and water hazards on almost every hole. The 13th is the golf course's signature hole. This par 3 plays from an elevated tee over water to a generous green, offering a great opportunity for a birdie.

Hole 13, fun par 3 Photo submitted by Tait2dn on 05/09/2013
This place is overrated and overpriced.
Very narrow course packed with too many people being let on overlapping eachother. Played through hole 15 and left as my round was approaching 5 hours at that point. Was waiting for 2-3 groups at each hole even though my pace was pretty quick there was no chance of playing through. There were multiple rangers on duty even at the first hole but they just kept piling everyone up. Not fun. Would not recommend coming here unless you got a steep discount. This course being anywhere above average is the Myth they are referring too it seems.
Poor maintenance
Course layout was nice. Unfortunately, the tee boxes were mostly mounds of dirt. The greens had patches of grass missing in scattered spots. Would have paid more like $40 for 18 as opposed to $60.
Hated everything about this course.
Played here for the first time the other day and will never go back. My round started after 8am and they had a maintenance guy cutting the greens on almost every hole we played, which held up play significantly. The tee boxes were in such bad shape that on many holes, it is basically just dirt and you hope for a reasonably level stance (which wasn't the case on some holes). Fairways and greens were in better shape than the tee boxes, but still not great. Overall, even if the course was better maintained, the layout is not fun to play. Tight fairways, unfairly (almost comically) sloped greens and a number of holes where you are forced to hit certain tee shots. For example, I hit a 7 or 8 iron on half of the par 4s and 5s because there was a 90 degree dog leg or something similar. All around it was just a bad experience.
Go to Copper Hills Instead
Very slow pace of play, 3 hours for 8 holes. Course condition needs lots of work.
BUYER BEWARE!
Do not waste your money!
Tee boxes were in poor condition, greens were poor as well with large patches missing.
Pace of play was awful with at one point there was 4 different groups lined up at a home waiting. Nearly 3 hours for 9 holes
Maple lanes has an extremely poor reputation and I have played there and this course was not much better.
Do not waste your money for $60 this place was not worth it, will not be playing here again and do not recommend it to others.
Worst conditions ever
Honestly, they should pay YOU to play this course. Not charge $60. Where is that money going? Not back in to the course that is. This course isn’t worth the gas money to drive there. The “tee boxes” are mounds of dirt that almost seem intentional to not have somewhere flat to tee off. I’ve never spent more time looking for somewhere to place my tee, just to find the equivalent of cement in the dirt. So bring a hammer to get your tee in the ground. I seriously cannot recommend against this course more. Go find your nearest construction site and hit a couple balls around there instead.
Last time I play here
I get to the course and the kid in pro shop said I can head to first tee and the starter will get us out. We were 25 mins early cause we never been there before. The ranger said you guys are too early and I got tee times before you. He said there is a foursome goes out before you so you may have to wait for them. There tee time passed and no one was there for it. So he finally let us tee off. He didn’t ask if we paid or receipts like most courses do. He just sat there in the shade under a tree and didn’t move.
Think twice about playing here, course is so beat up on fairways and tee boxes, I actually spent $75 for two golfers, so many nicer courses around them to play instead of here.
Not too shabby
Overall it wasn't horrible and was enjoyable.
Tee box's were the worst I've played all year, and
a lot of ball marks on every green unfortunately 😕
Didn't come in contact with any worker's besides Brad in the pro shop, which was very accommodating. Then the starter which just told us to go ahead and play, which we did.
Concerning
Typically, I like this course, it’s challenging and usually in pretty good shape. But my last experience was not so good, at all….T boxes are all beat up, nor could you find flat ground on many of them. Greens were shag carpets and the pace of play was slow, the ranger didn’t seem interested in doing his job. Oh well, I hope this was just an anomaly but I’m afraid it isn’t so buyer beware…
