Myth Golf & Banquet - Little Myth Par-3
About
The Myth Golf & Banquet used to be known as Beaver Creek before a major renovation in 2007. The former course was transformed into a scenic 18-hole championship golf course and a nine-hole, par-3 course. The courses were redone from the tees to the greens, one major improvement was the removal of all artificial tees. The 18-hole golf course has a traditional but challenging design that is still playable for all skill levels. The short course offers great practice for beginners and it's gentle enough for juniors. It's a good layout for families to play, but more advanced players can also enjoy a fast, casual round of practice. The Myth has a scenic location adjacent to Lake Orion, it sits on protected land that provides a home to a variety of wildlife. Sandhill cranes can often be seen throughout the golf course.

Hole 13, fun par 3 Photo submitted by Tait2dn on 05/09/2013
Course needs repairs, maintenance
Curb appeal from the road is relatively nice. Arrived and waited 10 minutes in the pro shop for someone to assist. Other customers were walking around trying to find someone to serve them beverages. Course cart paths, bridges, tee boxes and stairs were not the best condition. For the most part greens and fairways well well kept, especially considering the recent heat. Golf carts were clean and appeared sanitized.
Review The Myth
I am not a professional golfer, I enjoy going out and having fun. There were a lot of geese droppings on the green but other than that it was a great course! I’d go again
Fun Course but in Rough Condition
It's too bad this course isn't in better shape. Nice layout with some challenging holes, but in really rough shape. Tee boxes were in really bad shape. Greens are extremely slow for this time of year. If you want a fun place to play cheap and aren't too worried about the course conditions, it's a good choice.
HORRIBLE
Not only did they OVERBOOK, but then they hurried up and herded you like cattle to play. We won’t even mention that it was nothing but KIDS on the course!!! Won’t be going back here even it is FREE!!
It is a myth
The only myth about this golf course is that it was a good course at one time, t boxes full of just sand, t boxes not mowed, club house dirty.
Take Your Money Elsewhere
If you're into overpriced courses and incompetent staff, this course is for you! For the $40 it costs to play here, I would recommend taking your money to any other course in the area (i.e., Blackheath, Glacier Club, etc.) where your money will be appreciated and you'll be treated with respect. Every tee box was either a dirt pit or taken over by weeds. The blue tees weren't even out because the trees are overgrown, making tee shots impossible, or the weeds were taking over the tee boxes. Additionally, the wooden cart paths look like they haven't been replaced in a decade and make for a roller coaster of a ride to each hole. Lastly, the Course General Manager and his staff have to be the most incompetent and unsympathetic people I've every dealt with at a golf course. Their unprofessionalism is the main reason I will never return to this course and never recommend anyone play it.
Stay away
Paid $85 for 2. Worst course I have played. Wouldn't even pay $8 for 2. Terrible greens. Ugly course. Cart paths were like roller coasters. Staff was rude, appalled with the experience. Paid for 18 but left at 9
Decent par three
This is for the par three course, it seems to show reviews for all myth courses in one. Good value, some tricky holes with most being short. Greens in ok shape. No starter though and no one at the tee box knew what to do...pace of play was great when we went out, but saw a few groups of 7-10 foot golfers as we came in. That would have sucked.
Not worth the money
The kids who work there are complete d-bags. I guess that’s what you get when a bunch of 18 year olds are in charge though. And for $40 I’ll gladly go literally anywhere else.
There's better for cheaper
The good: The course has a cool layout. Lots of distance between most holes so you take quite a few trips through the woods on winding wood bridges over marshland. I would not recommend walking it. The hole shapes are interesting. A handful of them have hard dog legs. A couple that are literally 90 degrees,. Which you don't see often. And the greens are shaped/tilted well to be challenging. Lots of difficult reads and putts.
The bad: The course has not been maintained well. All of those winding bridges that would be fun to ride on are literally falling apart. Boards bounce loose as you drive over them. It's a rough ride everywhere except the fairway. The cart we had also was struggling to start its engine and get going. The worst part that makes this course not worth the money, is the tee boxes were trash. They didn't have the back (blue) tees anymore. I couldn't tell why. The tee boxes that were cut, one of them was 3" high, had holes in them. I'm not talking divots, like straight up holes in the turf. It was hard to find a flat spot to plant your feet. Plus some of the tee boxes are un-level from erosion over the years..
The course has good bones, but it needs a lot of work. I would say 18 with a cart is worth like $20. And I wouldn't have played had I known what shape it was in.
Fun challenge
This is a good course for intermediate to experience golfers. I had several people enjoy the challenge of the course. The thing that stunk was the beginner golfers. No offense but this course is not one to start out on. Go to Oxford hills where they are wide open. Rather then here where it's easy to loose a ball and hold up the line. Overall I had a great time and the staff was great!
boardwalk needs a lot of work
Hadn't golfed this since last year, and first time golfing 18 holes here. The boardwalk/cart path between holes is terrible. We saw many nails sticking upright and had to be careful driving as the boards were so lopsided.
Won't be back until next year at the earliest....
Pent up demand
Very crowded with a combination of good weather and the lifting of ban on golfing. As a result had to walk the entire course. Cart trails could use some maintenance when they start again.
Mid March golf
The course was in good condition considering the time of year. With the exception of 17, the greens were great.
My favorite part was my mind was taken of the fear of Coronavirus by the terrifyingly dilapidated raised, wooden cart trails going through out wooded areas of the course.
Seriously, this is a fun course, but the cart paths are a problem.
Greens were fast. but fair. a couple of less the nice tee boxes course well marked.
Bring more balls.
Tough course.
Tight fairways and elevated greens.
Some greens have just enough slope to punish you.
Still, an interesting course but, play for fun, not the score.
No driving range.
