Brae Burn Golf Club
About
Brae Burn Golf Club in Plymouth has a traditional layout with a landscape that ranges from gently rolling to wildly undulating. On most holes, elevated tees play to elevated greens. The large, undulating greens usually slope back to front. Golfers will encounter water on 15 holes and the fairways are lined with mature trees. The bunkering is sparse but strategically placed and there are also rough-enhanced moguls protecting the greens, a unique feature at Brae Burn. One tip if it is your first time on the golf course is to study the course diagram beforehand since there are many hidden ponds that come into play on the fairways and greensides. The course's most famous hole is the par-5 13th, nicknamed "The Monster" since it measures a devilish 666 yards. This tricky hole double doglegs to the left and then back towards the right.

Underrated Course
$25 on golf now was a steal!!!
Played on a Monday at 11:30 am with no one in front of us and no one behind us! It was outstanding!
Forgot how cool and challenging the greens are here. Most are heavily tilted from back to front and you can get in a lot of trouble if you over shoot the green. Very underrated old school course.
Place is fine, but better courses for the value
Brae Burn is okay, but just too expensive for what you get. Always a very wet course, and the greens could use some work. Looks like there used to be a driving range there, but it is no more.
Sneaky long
Brae burn overall is a great course for the area. Been here numerous times. Brought a few first timers. And they were surprised with how sneakily long the course actually plays on the back 9. The greens are lightning quick and pins were on some very deceiving slopes so almost best to finish below the hole. Only negative thing I would say this time around was some of the tee boxes were pretty chewed up (white tees)
Sneaky greens
Tee to green pretty straight forward. The greens are wicked tough. Fast and undulating. Was surprised at how good they were.
Brae burn
Not fancy or anything crazy , but great value. Staff was very friendly and bathrooms were nice and clean. 100 yrs they have been around I Enjoyed the course. Couple of slow pokes slowing people down but not anyone’s fault. I liked the “monster” hole though it was cool.
March Golf in Michigan
The gentleman running the operation was super nice, but did have his hands full as shop pro, bartender and starter, among other tasks.
The restrooms in the clubhouse are undergoing renovation. The open restroom is unisex. My sister was not thrilled.
The cart paths are worse than any Michigan road and likely inflict a lot of damage to the aged golf carts.
Low portions of the course were either had standing water, or were soaking, sinking wet. Other than that, course conditions were decent for mid March Michigan golf. Greens were soft but rolled well. The monster #13 par 5 was fun. Course layout was enjoyable for a 15 hc golfer. Overall an okay place to play but likely others that play better.
Challenging Course
So late in the season we were a handful of golfers who ventured out. Literally 10 or so and the course conditions were partially wet. The greens were slower than usual which meant better putting! I had 30 putts which is very good for my level of play. I didn’t especially like all the ropes off areas but understand the course maintenance personnel are trying to keep carts off the fairways in low lying sections. I like this course and since it was in November(14) the conditions and weather was above “par”.
