Nice links style course
30 dollars on Father'sDay. I would have paid another 20. Greens and fairways in great shape. Player friendly for the most part.
excellent fairway grass
This golf course is very well maintained, Nice fairway grass made us to hit the ball better. Also rough area around the green is well arranged. We've enjoyed the game.
Good time for the right price
I would recommend Blackheath when you can get out there at the right time and at the right price.
This was a Sunday mid afternoon , beautiful day but slow. Nothing out of the ordinary for public course weekend in the area, but certainly not fast and that equals a 5 hour round...
Bring food with you as the hot dogs are self serve and were possibly spinning in the machine since the mid 2004...
Course was in good shape and can play mildly to challenging with tee selection.
As stated in the beginning, if you get the right price and the right time to limit then overall round to closer to 4 hours it's worth a trip.
Good
I am no golf expert, but thought this course was a good, not great, course. It's a different style of course. I like to "get away" when I golf. I like the tree's and the country setting. On this course there are no tree's, so you can see everyone else all of the time. Not a bad thing, just different.
The course was in good shape. Most holes you can see the hazards or where the fairway breaks, so you can choose clubs and shots wisely. I golfed my best ever here, so not sure if I was having a good day or if the course is just easier.
Great course great value from Golf Now
Great weekend price from golf now, course was in great condition despite the weather lately. Only suggestion would be the rangers should do a better job of monitoring slow play. Round took 4.5 hours which isn't terrible for a Sunday afternoon.
Holiday Struggle
We played as a foursome on Memorial Day at 0900 so we were basically setting ourselves up for a miserably long round. I guess they could have coordinated tee times better since we teed off 20 mins after our scheduled time. Expect chaos on holidays at any course though. The course overall was in good shape, greens were solid. We were a little peeved that the cart girl skipped us, could've used a beer or two to compensate for the wait. I usually play here around 0630 on weekends and really enjoy the speed of the early weekend round.
Good condition - greens good shape
Nice course and have enjoyed playing here. This time 5/26 which was holiday couse over-booked, Tee start was aprox 25 minutes late. Did not enjoy pace of play.
First Time
Found this course through GolfNow and was very pleasantly surprised with the challenge of this course close to home.
wide open
This is an open, fairly easy course to play. A decent value can often be found. Unfortunately, the course took on 6" of rain the night before we played (in the morning) and lots of it was under water, including one hole where they put in a temporary green. That's the nature of the course though with lots of lowlands. If it's been rainy, this place will be really wet. But in the heat of summer it will be baked because there are so few trees on the course. To call it a links course might help describe the layout, but it's not really a great links course as I know them.
Good links course
A 2some for <$50 a good deal. Wide open so the wind definitely comes into play. A bit easier from the blue tees. Greens were in pretty good condition already, but the tee boxes need some TLC. Hot dogs $3.50 each a little high, but we got the last 2! We got stuck behind a 4some (we were 3) for 6 holes, so thankfully they were done after 9 holes. A great day with the boys. Just wish it was a bit closer to home.
Long, short, anyway you want it.
A perfect course for a sunny no wind 75 degree day. A links feel but has some shade areas with surrounding woods but they do not come into play. Wind would make this course very difficult.
From the back tees, the course would be too much for a handicapper above 9. Go blue tee or white which is more of a senior tee. Approaches to greens have a high level of challenge. Greens are large and well maintained but not super fast.
Fun interesting course.
Very surprised
1st time user, will become a long time customer. We had a fantastic round of golf in under 4 hours
Great staff and very nice course.
Wish I had played this course earlier in the season…as I would have played here at least half a dozen times by now. I am looking forward to playing here many more times to come.
Great course for the price!
Overall a nicely maintained course that offers a links style feel while not being overly difficult. I have played other links style courses in the area that cost more and are not nearly as nice. Will definitely be back
Excellent Course to play
This is very open like Scotish style course with beatuiful trees around and open fairways.
Nice course, fun to play
I booked on golf now at the last minute. As has happened in the past, I had a discount code that was rejected for unknown reasons. This time it was a birthday code which shouldn't have so many restrictions but, alas, not able to use. I thought I was at least getting a good rate to justify the booking fee I paid but ended up paying the same as the guys ahead of me who were NOT golf now bookers. I like the convenience of searching for available tee times without a bunch of phone calls but wish I could count on consistent service. Also had trouble printing/emailing the confirmation.
With a little wind, it plays like a links course
Conditions, especially the greens are generally pretty good. There are a variety of holes and I use most of the clubs in my bag. Decision on the tees at #2 (short 4), #14 (short 4) and #17 (par 5) make things interesting, especially if the wind is in your face on #17. I play the blue tees as the whites are very, very short (<5400 yards).
Add this course to your summer rotation
Good course for the value, especially thru golfnow.com. Rolling, undulatating fairways can provide tricky lies but well placed shots will yield good scores. Has a real "links" look to it, but with regular watering or rain it still ends up being target golf, per usual. Clubhouse is nothing fancy, although just about anything is available including food and merchandise. Some reviewers mentioned slow-play, but that was not the case when we played (Labor Day). Overall, Blackheath is fun to play and is a worthwhile addition to your summer Metro Detroit golfing rotation.
Great course.
My husband and I really enjoyed playing this course. It was in very good condition and the staff was friendly. I would recommend this course to my friends!
