Good Afternoon on the Course!
First time playing this course, and rather enjoyed it.
Not really any bad trouble that you can get into aside from the bunkers and a couple water hazards. And as much as some would think that just because the course is wide open with minimal to zero tree's to worry about, i found it was the greens that made the course the good challenge that it is. All of them were elevated and pins were in challenging spots, but reading them was difficult, cause sometimes the ball wouldnt break as much as you were seeing or would break far more than anticipated. Definitly recommend playing this course as i will find time to play here again.
Blackheath from blue tees.
This course is tough no matter what tee. Get close to the pins because that is where you will add the most strokes. I love the links style. If you are sensitive to noise, don't play here. Holes all on top of eachother. You just have to take a look before you take it back.
Heather has been tamed
The heather at Blackheath has been significantly reduced since the last time I played. It takes away from the challenge of this course.
The fairways and greens were in excellent condition.
Need more ranger presence as the group in front of us had 1.5 empty holes in front of them and groups were piling up behind us. Also the group in front were not responsible golfers - they would not let a twosome through. Main problem was one golfer that stood over each putt between 30 and 40 seconds. Needless to say he did not make many.
Good course to improve playing in the wind
Well kept and well maintained. Could Marshall better to maintain pace of play
Great Links Course
Always in great shape and priced well. Staff is friendly and beer is cold.
super greens
I enjoyed my round at Blackheath very, very much! From tee to green it was a challenging and the course was in great shape!!!!
Course Condition
I have been playing Blackheath a couple of times per year for about 5 years. The course is absolutely in the best condition I have ever seen especially for a public access facility. The greens were a perfect speed with no bare spots. Fariway's were outstanding and the bunkers had been raked. I had an average round and that is the only thing that wasn't near perfect at Blackheath on July 21, 2014.
difficult greens
tee time was very early morning & there was still fog covering the course, so our tee time got pushed back as there were many groups on the first tee. the fog made it very difficult & the greens changed dramatically during the round as the moisture evaporated. nice course with interesting layout. the course is wide open as there are no trees apart from along the property line. will play again
A true "grip it and rip it" style course.
This is a great, rather stress-free course to take driver out on nearly every single hole and let the big dog eat! It seems kind of rare (at least the courses I usually play in Metro Detroit/SE MI) to have literally a wide open golf course with no trees. It's liberating to be able to swing for the fences with driver knowing you can miss it a fairway either way and still have a shortish shot at the green. Conditions here tend to be a little bit wet, or even soggy if it's rained in the past week or 2, since it sits in a bit of a bowl. Other than than, the greens are decently smooth and surprisingly quick for being so soft. This course should always be on your short list if you're looking for an affordable, easy-going round with your buddies. Oh, one more thing, I think it's hole #10 that has a cavernously deep bunker back-left of the green. A.) DON'T HIT IT THERE, and B.) if you won't be holding up groups behind you, it's fun to try at least once to throw a ball down there and see if you can hit it out. It's easily the deepest bunker I've ever seen, probably about 12 ft deep or more, no joke.
Busy but fun day
The course was busy but as got off on time. Fairways are forgiving if you know where to miss. Greens are in good condition. Had lots of fun.
Great Links course
This course is in great shape, well maintained fairways and huge greens. We played from the tips (6700 yards) and it's quite challenging. The course has 3 tees to suit individual game. II was told that the course has a new owner who also owns Glaciers Golf Club and Wabeek Country Club, they are spending money to make it even better.
Blackheath good course
The course was in great shape. Pace of play could ave been better. Got stuck behind a outing so we waited 5 to 10 min. to hit on every hold
Challenging greens
Course is in very nice shape. The fairways are well manicured. The greens can be very difficult if your on the wrong side of the hole.
Great links course
Wide open.lets you work on all parts of your game. Great condition and fast play.
Phil finally won!
.course was immaculate. greens and fairways in beautiful condition. lots of interesting holes & elevation changes. No problems with rangers, pace of play etc. Excellent value through Golf Now.
good experience
overall a good experience. Went off ther back nine first which was a bit unusual. Played as a twosome at 7:30 AM and finished in just over 3 hours which was a nice change. Course was in decent shape - greens were in excellent shape considering the winter we had and what some of the other courses look like. The only minor issue I had was the the fairways were freshly cut and there where clumps of grass all over the place. By the end of the round I saw them getting rid of the clumps with a rope strung between two carts so I am sure it was fine for the rest of the day
Very nice
Course was in great condition. Course is relatively easy although greens were small and hard to stick. Very little long iron play...mostly drives to short irons and chips.
It's a fun, links course worth a try.
Fun Course
Played the course after plenty of rain, and it drains well. Tee shots are not difficult, but greens are protected and fun to putt. One of my top 10 public courses in Metro Detroit. Only downside is there's not really a clubhouse... more of a golfers fort.
This course is fun
A good course for the money. A links style course thats is pretty open, but with a lot of hills.
