Rustic Glen Golf Course
About
Located just minutes from Ann Arbor, Rustic Glen Golf Club sits at the edge of the Irish Hills area. The rolling topography provides the
ideal terrain for a round of golf. Originally opened in 1968 as a nine-hole course, it was completely redesigned and expanded to 18 holes in 1999. The layout measures to 6,469 yards from the tips. It's not particularly long but there are some holes that are drivable. There are also plenty of opportunities to work on your short game. Strategically placed bunkers frame the fast greens and the gently rolling hills guarantee that you 'll come across some uneven lies, as well as some great views. The scenic view from sixth tee stretches across the Saline Valley. Don't get too distracted by the view on this hole though; this long par 5 demands your attention.

Horrible experience
I am disgusted by how I was treated today. I'm from California and my brother (from Michigan) wanted to play nine holes of golf before I left the next day. We paid $44.00 and having seen the extremely slow pace of play - we immediately went to the pro shop and asked for our money back. They said no rather rudely, and said that they would provide a rain check. Well, that does me no good in CA.. We didn't even tee off on the first hole after waiting 20 minutes !!
The employees are rude beyond belief and my advice to anyone remotely thinking about playing this nightmare course is to head to Raisin Valley in Tecumseh MI, where you'll find a hidden gem. That's what we did, and we had a blast.. Trust me you'll be glad you missed the pathetic cow pasture called Rustic Glen.
What I expected
Let's start with the positives: the staff were ridiculously friendly. I played as a single with the first tee time. I was told there was an outing at 9, which wouldn't be a problem as I play fast, but it was nice to get the heads up. He also have me a rundown on the course, using the layout on the card as a guide. That was helpful, because there's some confusing routing. The greens were great. Very receptive and rolled true.
The negatives: the fairways are too narrow. You can tell they used to be wider, and have been altered. I get it. Cost saving measures. Use less water, and less maintenance mowing. But good drives shouldn't end up in the rough when you know they shouldn't be. The layout has little imagination. Almost every hole is straight. There are 10 bunkers on the course, and inexplicably, 4 are on one hole around the green. And there pretty much all shaped the same. There's a fairway trap on a par five that can't possibly see that much action. You don't have to think too much to get around. It's a typical country course. You get what you pay for.
Decent practice course
The 2nd cut was kinda high for my liking. Not very challenging as every hole was pretty straight. Well maintained otherwise. Decent course for the price.
Great pro shop staff, great bar stall, food better than you may expect, course not to tough and in great shape
Friendly
Always a pleasure to golf at this course with the friendly staff.
Nice Day, Nice Course
Really a great course to play, and you can't beat the price. 30 bucks (or less on a hot deal) for 18 and a cart? Sweet.
The par 5's were rather short, so they made for easy birdies or pars that felt like they should have been bogeys. Layout was really fine all across - just got stumped on an uphill par 4!
Staff were nice but didn't seem to see my reservation from golfnow. Had to show em the email confirmation on my phone - be ready for that.
Nice course
The staff is very friendly and accomodating. Fairways and greens are maintained well. Greens hold well and ball rolls out well. The course layout isn't difficult. You can score well here if swinging decent. A lot of opportunity to scramble out of trouble here on any mishits. On the day, I played here, it was a little slow, but not horrible.
Fun Course
The course was in good condition and even had rakes and ball washers. We met a young man that played each week on a league and played with him the first 9. He was an excellent guide and I played better than the back nine, in which hidden dangers were lurking, especially the par 5, fifteenth! there is hidden water in front of the green and my 3 wood found it! Overall a very good experience and I will return, and get even with NO. 15.(lol)
Course a little on the Dry side
Nice day for golf with a good friend. Course was dryer than I like but besides that it’s a nice course to play!
