About
Stony Creek is part of the Huron-Clinton Metroparks system and many locals consider it to be one of its gems. There aren't any residences near the golf course, giving it a secluded feel and providing unhindered views from the elevated tees. The course opened in 1976 but underwent a major renovation that included re-sculpting the bunkers and reconditioning the entire golf course. The layout features several doglegs and a surprising amount of elevation changes. The fairways are tightly lined with trees and bunkers are strategically placed along the greensides and landing zones. There are also lakes and ponds that come into play on six holes on the front nine and three on the back. Stony Creek's par-3 17th is the most memorable water hole and the 14th is also notable for its tiny "postage stamp" green.

Nice Metro park course. I will be back!
Very nice staff. I liked the layout of the course. It was my first round of the year, so I will be interested in checking out the course conditions when the weather is nicer, but we had a great time.
Great course, terrible staff
Booked an early tee time. Delayed start due to frost, not unusual for this time of year. Staff was very rude, telling my group to sit quietly and wait. Greenskeeper was nowhere to be found. Older man at front desk refused to call keeper for updates on potential start times. Two hours later staff says they don’t know where the greenskeeper is. 2.5 hours after our scheduled tee time we’re finally given green light to play. If not for my love of the course itself, and proximity to home, never would have waited. I would have accepted and honest “we dont know where the greenskeeper is, we’re working hard to get you on the course” or something like that from the front desk. As rude as they were, I won’t be going back to this course.
Eagle and an eagle all in the same day
Course was in excellent shape. The colors in the fall at this course are beautiful.
Slow pace of play ruined day
Third tee time of morning. It should be a very quick round.
Two 4-somes in front of us were extremely slow. Rangers were not keeping them on pace. No courtesy from the groups ahead.
Our 4 some was walking. Finished 15 holes in 4.5 hours and ended the round as we were still another 45 minutes from finishing.
It was one of the worst golf experiences I have had in years.
Wet & Windy
Very, very wet. Cart path only and the conditions were very tough, windy also with temps in the mid 50s
Stoney surprise
Beautiful weather, great course, friendly staff. There were no waits and considering the rain we have had, the course was in great shape. The only down side was cart path only rule.
Rushed
We played today. A 4some. It had rained a couple days ago so the course was wet. Puddles everywhere. When we arrived cart path only was enforced. So trudging through mud and ponds was not easy for any of us... and the ranger comes to us and tells us we need to pick up the pace, when we were doing the best we could with the situation. Everyone was playing slow. We just thought it was very inconsiderate and rude to come at us like that.
