Stony Creek Golf Course
About
Stony Creek is part of the Huron-Clinton Metroparks system and many locals consider it to be one of its gems. There aren't any residences near the golf course, giving it a secluded feel and providing unhindered views from the elevated tees. The course opened in 1976 but underwent a major renovation that included re-sculpting the bunkers and reconditioning the entire golf course. The layout features several doglegs and a surprising amount of elevation changes. The fairways are tightly lined with trees and bunkers are strategically placed along the greensides and landing zones. There are also lakes and ponds that come into play on six holes on the front nine and three on the back. Stony Creek's par-3 17th is the most memorable water hole and the 14th is also notable for its tiny "postage stamp" green.

add $10 -40 to the green Fees you’ll be charged to enter the park
Excellent layout descent conditions greens were a bit shaggy
Pace of play was nauseating what ever happened to golf course etiquette allowing faster players through play ready golf please
Fun course like the kind I play up north
Love the up north feel of the course, plenty of wildlife to see including a herd of whitetail deer which was nice. the layout was nice and the greens were holding shots good. nothing to complain about, look forward to playing it again
Love this course
I’ve played the Stony Creek Metropark course for many years and I love everything about it. Price is right but you have to pay for Park entry unless you have an annual Metropark pass. Very pretty, tough, and challenging. Greens are tough to read but are in good condition. Better bring a few extra balls too. Lots of water and dense foliage but that’s what makes it what it is. Also plenty of deer to be seen.
Beautiful course for a good price. Horrible staff.
Love the course but the front desk staff are miserable and rude. I dread having to check in before each round.
No course management or care
In 20+ years of golf, I have never had such a bad experience as I had here today. The course was mostly flooded from a train storm the night before, and the only thing the marshals were worried about was enforcing cart path only. We had a group in front of us that was playing so incredibly slow and inconsiderate - walking to one player's ball and watching them hit, then walking to another player's ball to watch them hit. Four holes open in front of their group and the marshal wouldn't address the group or their pace of play. It took us an hour to play 10-12, and we finally gave up and left the course. I told the staff at the clubhouse and they seemed entirely disinterested. I guess they already had my money. I will not return to this course.
Review
Well maintained fairways, tee boxes and greens. Could use a few rangers to move play along as well as team up Groups of twosomes
Beware the park fee
Stony Creek is a beautiful course - well worth the $30 I paid to play, including cart (senior rate). However, if you are just visiting, as I was, be aware that there is a $10 fee to enter the Metropark which houses the course.
Good Time
We got paired up with a couple of guys we didn’t know and had a very nice time. The greens were tough, but the course layout is very user friendly with just enough tough holes to make it a good challenge. We also like nature, and we saw sand hill cranes, a red fox, a groundhog , and a noisy hawk. We had a great time.
Good course
Nice course pace was kind of slow but it was a Sunday mid day I expected that. Staff was very kind except for the older gentleman working the counter he was a jerk.
Great course
The course was in great shape. The weather was excellent, and as expected, the course was quite busy so the pace of play was pretty slow. Regardless, we had a great time and will definitely be coming back
