Stony Creek Golf Course
About
Stony Creek is part of the Huron-Clinton Metroparks system and many locals consider it to be one of its gems. There aren't any residences near the golf course, giving it a secluded feel and providing unhindered views from the elevated tees. The course opened in 1976 but underwent a major renovation that included re-sculpting the bunkers and reconditioning the entire golf course. The layout features several doglegs and a surprising amount of elevation changes. The fairways are tightly lined with trees and bunkers are strategically placed along the greensides and landing zones. There are also lakes and ponds that come into play on six holes on the front nine and three on the back. Stony Creek's par-3 17th is the most memorable water hole and the 14th is also notable for its tiny "postage stamp" green.

Good value
Very slow play but to give the course a break there was a frost delay. They did need a ranger to speed up play maybe in a couple of weeks
Terribly managed
I’ve been playing golf for 16 years and never had to leave a course and ask for a refund until today. An hour after our tee time we weren’t even close to teeing off, and they didn’t have a cart available. I’ve played this course several times in the past but didn’t even get to play today. I can’t believe how terribly it was managed. If you physically don’t have carts, don’t let everyone book carts.
Hidden Gem
Played first thing this morning. Course is in amazing shape for this early in the season. I was the first one out so pace was not an issue. We had a tremendous amount of rain within the last 48hrs, and this course does not drain well at all. It is what it is. The only downside other than water all over (not the courses fault) was the unbelievable amount of scat all over the course, other than the greens (also not the courses fault. I can’t wait to get back up there when it dries out.
Great round
The course is maintained neatly. It is a wonderful experience to play around of of in late November in Michigan.
Fall Golfing at Stoney
Course was in great shape and very nice to play. Especially nice for November golf in Michigan.
Stoney Creek
Course was in pretty good shape, I was pleasantly surprised. Greens were in good shape, although there were plenty of ball marks that need to be repaired....as in a lot of courses I've played recently. Most greens were leaf free except for a few....but that's Michigan fall golf. Wasn't happy about paying the $10 entry fee into the park though, thought at least some of that should have been refunded when you're only playing golf. Had a good time though, would go back.
Monday Morning Glory
Beatuiful fall Monday morning golf. Everything was wide open and it seemed like we were the only ones on the course. Course was in great shape for the time of year, my only complaint is the unevenness of the tee boxes. Packed with wildlife, saw probably 15 deer as colse up as 5 yards, turkeys and geese. Love this course!!
Slowest pace ever!
Both times i have been to this course they have over packed it. We waited at every hole and had another group on our tails the whole day. The staff has never been friendly. The park charges $10 admission fee although the description says “free parking” which is misleading.
