Stony Creek Golf Course
About
Stony Creek is part of the Huron-Clinton Metroparks system and many locals consider it to be one of its gems. There aren't any residences near the golf course, giving it a secluded feel and providing unhindered views from the elevated tees. The course opened in 1976 but underwent a major renovation that included re-sculpting the bunkers and reconditioning the entire golf course. The layout features several doglegs and a surprising amount of elevation changes. The fairways are tightly lined with trees and bunkers are strategically placed along the greensides and landing zones. There are also lakes and ponds that come into play on six holes on the front nine and three on the back. Stony Creek's par-3 17th is the most memorable water hole and the 14th is also notable for its tiny "postage stamp" green.

Nice course to learn on.
Nice course. Good food. A little pricey if you dont get the hot deal though.
nice day
course was clean and in good shape for this early in the year
This course has nice birds
Great wildlife experience during my Saturday morning 18 on the track. Saw three deer in total. A male and female crane on hole 7, one of which glided like a mystical Pterodactyl five feet from our cart. I disappointing was unable to lunge into my cart and open Snapchat in time. I lost my sense of direction at times given the many doglegs on this course, most of which were to the right. Hole placements on this wet morning felt like you were putting up a mountain at Yosemite. Although, I applaud the greens keeper who sinisterly dug those 4-inch cups making the damp conditions much harder to conquer. Overall great metro park course. 10x times more enjoyable when the round was free with GolfNow rewards.
GREENS/WEATHER
Considering the conditions, foggy, rain and wet the was in great shape for November and the greens where still pretty quick and true. To be playing golf in November cannot complain.
Paid $10.00 for parking
Course in good conditon. Problem is that it cost me and my brother each $10.00 to enter the park. They wouldn't refund the entrance fee at the course because we booked it thru GolfNow. So that means we each paid $10.00 for just parking. Not fair. Will not go there again. Wasn't such a good deal after all.
Very decent course
Lots of long holes. Fairways and greens in decent shape. Golfed as a twosome, with a threesome ahead and twosome behind us. The couple behind us were rudest I've encountered on a course. Kept hitting up on us, pulling cart up to women's tee box as we were teeing off. Fellow in clubhouse hated us for having a golf now coupon.
Not such a "hot deal"
I booked two tee times for a group of 8. One tee time was a "hot deal", and the other booked on line thru the course's web page.
There is a $10.00, per car, park entrance fee to this course. $8.00 of is reimbursed in the pro shop. However, that does not apply if booked through Golf Now. As a result, the foursome that took part in the "hot deal" ended up paying more than the other foursome. Not such a deal after all.
Arguably the slowest 9 holes ever. Waited every shot. Staff was great at the turn we told them we were done and heading home to watch football. They apologized and offered rain check for the back nine. Great people hopefully just one of those days....
stoney creek
had a very enjoyable round twosome, finished under 4 hours. very limited waiting, course was immaculate
Meh
Super slow round. 5+ hours. No rangers ever seen to move groups along. Group in front of us slow. Group in front of them even slower. Old ladies behind us riding right up our back end the entire time (we had no where to go, ladies)
Course was standard. Expensive for what it is. Better deals out there.
Moral of the story: if your day is hit a shot, wait five minutes, hit a shot, wait five minutes, hit a shot, wait five minutes.... you're not going to have a good time.
had a great golf day with my wife and she also liked the course
Beautiful place to play golf at great rates.
Would be a nice improvement to have to the Gold tees distanced properly relative to the other tee boxes on the course. Most of the Gold tees are placed very near the Red tees.
Fun course, mean staff
Course is nice, some areas are in need of repair. Staff is mean and cranky.
Was OK
Had to pay full park entry fee... played there previously had some money deducted & with senior rates about same cost ... no big value
