Stony Creek Golf Course
About
Stony Creek is part of the Huron-Clinton Metroparks system and many locals consider it to be one of its gems. There aren't any residences near the golf course, giving it a secluded feel and providing unhindered views from the elevated tees. The course opened in 1976 but underwent a major renovation that included re-sculpting the bunkers and reconditioning the entire golf course. The layout features several doglegs and a surprising amount of elevation changes. The fairways are tightly lined with trees and bunkers are strategically placed along the greensides and landing zones. There are also lakes and ponds that come into play on six holes on the front nine and three on the back. Stony Creek's par-3 17th is the most memorable water hole and the 14th is also notable for its tiny "postage stamp" green.

Well maintained course on GolfNow deal
Stoney Creek, being part of a Metro Park was nicely maintained and gave the feel of golfing in northern Michigan. The fairways were mostly forgiving, but I thought the greens were tough with some undulation that I don't normally experience on cheaper golf courses. Made it fun and challenging though.
Fair price but slow pace
Was a very slow pace of play all round long and course was not in the greatest shape. But would most likely play it again in the future.
metropark golf
I haven't played here in a few years and I know why pace of play is horrible course was running 10 minutes behind form scheduled tee time which should not be a problem at most courses but I have a 5hour and 30 minute round keep in mind I tee off at 10:04 am had a ranger but he was useless did not help move the pace of play and the tee boxes are torn to crap. Please!!!! If you want to play a metro park go to Lyon Oaks the best park in the county avoid this place unless you want to spend time with bugs and sun
Great Round
Course was in good shape, a couple of tee boxes were less than ideal but overall the course was in good shape. Fun and fair course, would definitely recommend.
Nice but slow....
The course was OK they had some issues with some of the tee boxes and pace of play was really slow all day.
Slow and Terrible Tee Boxes
1st tee was backed up 20 minutes from the start and it was impossible to find a flat, grassy spot in the tee boxes. Would have been fine for a $25 course but I’m not paying $50 to play here again.
Awful course
Over booked. Way too many walkers. Took 3 hours to play nine holes. Absolutely trash.
Walking Stony
Stony is one of my favorite courses to walk because the layout is perfectly situated to accommodate walking with the tees set closely to the previous greens.
Tee times were a bit cumbersome. I reserved online and was pushed back 25 minutes because there were conflicts between their online system and offline bookings. The ranger did a great job of getting me in and was only delayed approximately 25 minutes.
Course was in great shape and I had an enjoyable round.
BEWARE: You need to pay $10 entry fee because this course is inside the Meteo Detroit Park. (unless you already have a pass). I wish I knew before booking my tee time. In addition, I basically had no service on the golf course. I know a lot of people use Grint or 18 Biridies to track distances, so this might become a problem for you. Pace of Play was decent on Sunday.
Enjoyable
Course was in very good shape. Staff was highly accommodating, Good pace of play and the bunkers were satisfactory considering all of the rain in the area.
