Stony Creek Golf Course
About
Stony Creek is part of the Huron-Clinton Metroparks system and many locals consider it to be one of its gems. There aren't any residences near the golf course, giving it a secluded feel and providing unhindered views from the elevated tees. The course opened in 1976 but underwent a major renovation that included re-sculpting the bunkers and reconditioning the entire golf course. The layout features several doglegs and a surprising amount of elevation changes. The fairways are tightly lined with trees and bunkers are strategically placed along the greensides and landing zones. There are also lakes and ponds that come into play on six holes on the front nine and three on the back. Stony Creek's par-3 17th is the most memorable water hole and the 14th is also notable for its tiny "postage stamp" green.

Very good course, slow play
The course is located inside a Metro Park, hence there is an entry fee of $10.00 per car. Even with the extra fee it's a good value based on the lower comparable greens fees and nice course conditions. The only drawback was the 6 hour round.
CARTS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I play Stoney Creek 0nce or twice a year. This was my first and can say I was disappointed with the Quality or lack of in the cart selection. Tried three , all on their last leg. I play most of the Metro Park Courses and by far Stoney Creek has the leftover carts.
Cant complain about the course . In great shape.
Friendly course
Afternoon round was very pleasent. Pace of golf was ok.
Yardage
The website 4 or 5different yardages for men to play. The scorecard only has two yardages 6450 5600 yards. The guys I play with are all 70 and we like to play 6100 to 6200 yards. We played the tea set up one on the par fives but that’s still over 6300 yards. They should make up some new scorecards that match what they show on their website. I think that’s one of the reasons for the slow Because people aren’t playing the yardage that they should play
It was cartpath only, since I booked in line, they had all my information I think I should’ve been advised that.
The blue yardage is 6400 yards. The white is 5600 yards. A lot of courses are going to combining those two to get something in the 6000 to 6150 yardage area. That causes people to play from the wrong tees and that I think it’s why the pace of plate is so slow.
I found it funny that I paid a convenience fee to book online, It’s not my booking preference and it wasn’t convenient.
Great value
For a Metropark course, it’s great. Pace of play can be slow on weekends and certain times, but the staff does a good job. Course is in good condition and moderately challenging.
Slow play and to many drunks
Really slow play. Saw a ranger but never talked to anyone we could see Too many over served players.
Feels like playing Up North
Always enjoy playing this course. Good layout and challenging for the everyday golfer.
4th of July Golf Round
Overall the golf course is okay, but the staff was weird and very unfriendly. They were acting and responding like a little 'dictators', which was the opposite of what I wanted to see for a fun day out with my family. Not going back, it doesn't worth the hassle and the price paid
Decent track for the price
For the price it’s not so bad. The pairings and pace of play could be managing a little better, but need to keep in mind it’s a public course managed by city workers so there’s no impetus to compete with other courses or improve customer service.
Also need to be mindful that if you don’t have a park pass for the Metro Parks then you’ll be paying an additional $10 to enter, even if you’re just golfing…
All in all I thought the course was manicured quite well, and the conditions were just fine. There were a few challenging holes, but overall enjoyable, so I’d recommend.
Overall good course
Overall the course was good. The off course amenities could be refreshed but for a muni-course it has great variety. The carts need a refresher.
