North/South at Tanglewood - The Lion

About
Opened in 1991, the North and South Courses were Tanglewood's original championship 18-hole course before the West nine was added in 1995. All 27 holes are known as "The Lion." The North is the gentlest of the three nines and the South is a mix of trees and water while the West has water on almost every hole. The North/South course has a gently rolling terrain that doesn't offer dramatic elevation changes but it also makes a flat lie hard to find. The undulating landscape also gives a bowl-shape to most of the holes that enclose errant balls and bring them back into play. The South nine incorporates a variety of wetlands, offering a pond or marsh hovering around many of the greens. The club is consistently ranked as one of the best public golf courses in the metro Detroit area.

Nice Course
Very nice course but I think you need to see more rangers moving the pace of play along
Very Well Maintained
The course is very well maintained. My only complaint is on some of the holes the house's are to close to the fairway. A slight pull or push an your in someone's yard.
Just loved the layout and the greens were incredible
Highly recommend this course the staff went out of there way to accommodate us and even helped with pointers about the course and possible hazards to be aware of

Great course. Very cold windy day. Wrapped our cart in ceran wrap to keep the wind out lol! Will be playing again come prime time.

To be able to play this late in the season was just a commodity. With that said, everything about the course was prestige. Minimal leaves. Good mowing on both fairway and rough allowed me to find balls easily. Played solo North/South and never saw anyone on course so for playing 18, the pace of play was an easy two and half hours. Loved the driveable doglegs off blues tees. If it's like this every year on out in 40 degree weather and still open, I'll be back!
North to South on Tanglewood
First play this year and first time playing South course in several years. Last time was prior to course changes.
Really enjoyed the round. Played as a twosome and never waited. Perfect fall day weather very comfortable.
Greens, fairways and overall course conditions just great.
Excellent Course
We played Tanglewood GC for the first time on Sat 10/21. We found the course to our liking. While it appeared busy we were never pushed and never waiting. The course was in good shape for late October with few leaves in the fairway or on the green. It seemed to be a bit of target golf but that was only because we had not played there before. We will put this course on our list to play again next year.
Greens condition
The greens on the course are very bad and loaded with sand from their airation. Could not put anything due to that much sand mix all over the greens. When I told them they told me oh well it the end of summer
Public course in private condition
Well maintained, friendly staff, beautiful scenery, drove an 1:15hr just to play from Ohio and never knew what to expect but would definitely be back with others.
Course had a different tee time, 30 minutes after my GolfNow had.
Enjoyable
Really enjoyed this course. Well maintained and pretty landscaping. The group of two in front of us invited us two to play along because the pace was running slow. Happened to be some young gentleman that worked there and they were a pleasure to play with and patient with us beginners!!
