Absolute Grueling Pace of Play
Played here with a buddy - it took us over five and a half hours to play 18 holes. Two people - over five and a half hours. The Pace of play was absolutely grueling and was immediate from the second hole all the way to the 18th.
At one point in time, we were stacked up four groups deep on one hole waiting. I never once saw a ranger the entire 5 and a half hours. Not even once. (isn't that their job to move people along?)
All in all, I didn't find the course that fun to play either. The holes are long, average over 400 yards. There are some challenges, such as a creek you need to go over - but all in all, it wasn't that challenging of a course. Nor was it breathtakingly beautiful.
For the price I paid to play here - there's better, faster, more fun courses in metro Detroit. I won't be back.
Surprising
Course was in great condition . Some difficult holes, but great advantage for women.
Value
Greens rolled true and green fairways considering the recent lack of rain
Great Early Morning Round
Had the first tee time at 6:20am. Staff was busy getting ready but very friendly. Course was in great shape.
Updated
Second time out playing this year. I totally did not realize how long this course has become from the blues. Course played long but in really good condition. The greens play well, so course played well but much harder than I remember I will be back to defeat this course.
Fair Course; Slow Play
I found the course to be in decent condition for early in the season. The price was reasonable but the pace of play was quite slow. Front 9 took 2 hrs, 40 min. Quit after 13 holes because it was moving so slow.
My thoughts on the course
My thoughts on the course this course is well maintained and the staff was very pleasant to be around. The course layout made it very challenging but very enjoyable. I love playing a course where you have to play Avery cub in your bag I would recommend it to my friends
Decent Course
Decent course. Front was more challenging than the back. Very little water. Starters were grumpy and rude.
Good Course
Started early morning; finished 18 in 3.5 hrs
Am 15 handicap; the course was easy and forgiving to play 12 over. Conveniently located. Enjoyed playing
The retaining wall is going to be great
I would recommend to anyone.
SYLVAN GLEN
It was a sunny, yet windy day, my first time ever at Sylvan Glen. Second round of the year. I found the course to be somewhat challenging because of water at uncomfortable distances and modest elevation changes and more than a few off balance stances that I had to make. Some of that is due to poor play on my part, leaving myself in awkward positions, but hey, that's golf. The course was in great shape, save for a few chewed up tee boxes. The greens rolled true, with decent pace. Some nice long challenging par 3s in the middle of a lot of par 4s and 5s. If you don't mind road noise (front 9) you'll love it here. The course is just long enough, has just enough water, sand and trees. It has just enough undulation, just enough slope. I will definitely play here again. The signage could be a little better to keep you headed in the right direction. Use your map, it helps. Other than that, it's definitely a nice course worth playing more than once.
Be aware of construction
I always enjoy golfing. This course is usually overpriced for me. Good deal on GolfNow. The course has construction on local stream/drain that runs through it. There were temporary greens on holes 9 and 18. The course did charge me a cart fee that I was surprised by as I thought my reservation included a cart. Greens are undulating and had lots of challenge for early in the year.
Thank you for playing out course during the construction, we anticipate for it to be done and the greens be open on April 18th. Hope to see you again.
Waste of time.
We showed up on time and after waiting one hour for a cart we asked for a refund. this was nothing but a waste of time.
