Second time out playing this year. I totally did not realize how long this course has become from the blues. Course played long but in really good condition. The greens play well, so course played well but much harder than I remember I will be back to defeat this course.
Fair Course; Slow Play
I found the course to be in decent condition for early in the season. The price was reasonable but the pace of play was quite slow. Front 9 took 2 hrs, 40 min. Quit after 13 holes because it was moving so slow.
My thoughts on the course
My thoughts on the course this course is well maintained and the staff was very pleasant to be around. The course layout made it very challenging but very enjoyable. I love playing a course where you have to play Avery cub in your bag I would recommend it to my friends
Decent Course
Decent course. Front was more challenging than the back. Very little water. Starters were grumpy and rude.
Good Course
Started early morning; finished 18 in 3.5 hrs
Am 15 handicap; the course was easy and forgiving to play 12 over. Conveniently located. Enjoyed playing
The retaining wall is going to be great
I would recommend to anyone.
SYLVAN GLEN
It was a sunny, yet windy day, my first time ever at Sylvan Glen. Second round of the year. I found the course to be somewhat challenging because of water at uncomfortable distances and modest elevation changes and more than a few off balance stances that I had to make. Some of that is due to poor play on my part, leaving myself in awkward positions, but hey, that's golf. The course was in great shape, save for a few chewed up tee boxes. The greens rolled true, with decent pace. Some nice long challenging par 3s in the middle of a lot of par 4s and 5s. If you don't mind road noise (front 9) you'll love it here. The course is just long enough, has just enough water, sand and trees. It has just enough undulation, just enough slope. I will definitely play here again. The signage could be a little better to keep you headed in the right direction. Use your map, it helps. Other than that, it's definitely a nice course worth playing more than once.
Be aware of construction
I always enjoy golfing. This course is usually overpriced for me. Good deal on GolfNow. The course has construction on local stream/drain that runs through it. There were temporary greens on holes 9 and 18. The course did charge me a cart fee that I was surprised by as I thought my reservation included a cart. Greens are undulating and had lots of challenge for early in the year.
Thank you for playing out course during the construction, we anticipate for it to be done and the greens be open on April 18th. Hope to see you again.
Waste of time.
We showed up on time and after waiting one hour for a cart we asked for a refund. this was nothing but a waste of time.

VERY Poor Pace of Play
I knew the weather was going to be record highs for November and could not wait to play golf with my friend.
First off the bar tender was mean to us and the beer selection was garbage. We were in a hurry to get to our tee time and the bar tender snottily told me she would not sell me beer unless both people were present (I've never had a golf course do that before!) I usually buy the beer while I'm waiting for my friend to show up, dress or pay etc.. Then there was a beer limit of 2 cans. Then they only had Coors light and blue light. :( I felt this was bad service.
We are waiting to tee off the first tee. No one seems to be playing even though there is a long line of golf carts waiting! These guys in front of us were so unbelievably slow. I have never seen this rate of play before. I mean we are trying to beat the sunset and these guys won't tee off until the greens are clear on par 4 holes. On the first hole, they are waiting around to hit their second shot, to the point where I keep asking are they shooting on our fair way or are they shooting from a different fairway?
I just really wish the course had a course ranger out so they could kept the pace of play. We skipped ahead of the sunshine bogarts and the guys in front of them kept waiting to hit their second shots which weren't very good. One time they waited for the greens to clear and then started trying to find their ball! My friend and I were in total disbelief.
Bummer that the last golf day of the year is something to complain about.
*Our tee time was 3:40 | sundown was 5:30 | we had to skip 3 holes!
Golf
Beautiful, fair and long course with fast greens. Park 3'so are challenging. Excellent experience.
Sylvan Glen
We play here alot and always have enjoyed the layout. Course was in good shape. Greens rolled true considering they had beem aerated a few weeks ago. Decent value. We will return.
sylvan golf
went by my self in the rain and still had a blast.
I thought the course was EXCELLENT !. I will be going back four sure, and will bring some people with me next time.
No personal care what so ever.
There was no beverages available. No food. No cart. The deal on golf now was the same price. Also they give first come first serve.
Great Course
Course is always in great shape. Never gimmicky, but a decent challenge nonetheless. Some of the older starters are super cranky, but this is still one of my favorite courses.
Good course near Troy
I have played here many times. I like the course as it is within the proximity (less than 10 min from my residence). Since, this is within the city, I am aware that the pace of play is a little slow. I played with my teenage son (he is a beginner) and chose this course as there would not be pressure to rush. I could play 18 holes in decent time (I took about 4 hrs to complete). Course maintenance is good and it is challenging for beginners but moderate for the average golfer. My son enjoyed this course, as he could hit without losing the ball. Not much of water and woods.
Overall, I am happy with the course, though the price is slightly higher.
Nice course slow pace of play.
Course was worth it for $17 just give yourself 5+ hours to play 18, pace of play was real slow. Tough to enjoy a round when you have to wait 5 minutes between shots.
5 Hours Later...I Won't Be Back
My friend and I arrived about 20 minutes early for our tee time to putt and warm up. The starter growled at us, 30 seconds after we arrived, that we should go off 15 minutes early because the group set to tee off in front of us hadn't gathered their third player. We hurried, generally welcoming the chance to tee off early. Meanwhile, the group that was supposed to go off in front of us stood on the tee box while we teed off, with no idea why we were going first. After about 5 holes, the same starter drove a FIFTH, apparently late, player to the 6th tee for the group in front of us. We waited on every. single. shot. When we bought the fivesome to the attention of the starter at the turn (which he was already aware of), he snarled at us that they were keeping up with the group in front of them (they weren't, they were a hole behind and didn't allow us to play through, despite the starter seeing this and us asking). I have never been to ANY course that allowed fivesomes. Most reprimand groups that try to play with 5. Not here. I was actually snapped at for questioning this practice. Over 5 hours later, I'll never go back to this course. Slowest round of my life. Poor quality starter with no clue on how to manage the pace of play. Simply a joke. Worst golf experience in 15 years. This could have been a decent value on a beautiful weather day. It wasn't.
Thank you for playing Sylvan Glen.
