Golfer Reviews
Don’t bother
Tee times were not adhered to.. could have grown a full beard play was so slow
Needs attention
We used to play this course regularly, and it was always in great shape. It no longer is. The one plus is that we played 18 in under 3 hours. There weren’t many people playing. I would think it’s due to course conditions. The grass along the fairways is so deep that if you miss the fairway by a couple inches, you might not find your ball. We found quite a few though. There were many areas that were ground under repair. Most of the greens were still in good shape, and were very fast. Some of the tee boxes had dead patches. Purchased a 6 pack inside, and the girl seemed very put out when I asked for more ice than she gave me. I heard the course was sold, and that possibly is the reason it’s not as well kept.
Awesome but troubling
I loved the course But…. It has very tight fairways so of course you often end up in the rough. But the rough hadn’t been mowed in days. We spent many many minutes just trying to find a bal that just missed a fairways. I lost three balls that should have been found. If they mow the tough properly I would love to play it again.
Great course, trim the rough
I like this course because it’s close to home and it’s fair to the more average golfer. Been playing here for years and over the last couple seasons I feel like the rough is just a bit too long. I like to bring my gf out with me and she struggles to get the ball out to the fairway once she goes in the shaggy stuff. A small critique for an overall really nice course.
Everything is great except tee boxes
The fairways and greens were really wonderful
I have always like the course layout
Just need to get the tees better
Old school cool
Visited my buddy who moved from the west side of the state to east of Lansing. This was a nice old jury Matthews old school tree line course average shape wife went with enjoy the different tea boxes, which were appropriate for each of us and 61 bucks for three of us on GolfNow can’t beat that with the car so I enjoyable time and went to Lucky steakhouse which has gone downhill in my opinion so anyway, yeah I try a different one over that neck woods next time, but I would try it once for sure. Got busy when we were leaving for the leagues around 4:30 or so but pretty wide-open we got a couple singles play through us that was about it.
Played with my good buddy that moved east of Lansing so old-school course very consistent average condition conditions. Jerry Matthews would a design nothing right at home about but we try another course before we play this one again again, but it was good to see my buddy Dave, and play this course if you got the time go down to grand we love that last year, Keller of course this is pretty average wife and they had good tease which was good. Good different difference in the length for the appropriate.
Oak Lane
I just love this course! Old school design, no tricks no blind shots, mature course that is very well mapped generous fairways are tree lined, and greens smooth and fast.
Enjoy!
If you enjoy spending six hours in a golf cart staring at the group in front of you while another group breathes down your neck, Oak Lane Golf Course is the place for you.
The issue here isn't just a slow day; it's a complete lack of tee time management. The pro shop appears to be scheduling multiple groups for the exact same tee times, leading to a massive bottleneck right at the first tee box before you’ve even hit a ball.
Good small town midwestern course tucked in a park-like setting. The course was empty mid-day mid-week and I finished in 1:30.
Course was in good condition, tee boxes were small, some were more beat up than others. Greens were dry and balls were bouncing off. Fairways were cut short, greens were cut short, rough was long enough to punish you but not too long where you weren't finding your ball.
Short at only 6100 from the tips. Only a par 70 (front is a par 34). Tree-lined holes and a few doglegs meant that the course favored target golf over distance off the tee. Several crowned greens, some with bunkers. No fairway bunkers on the course outside of one hole. Water doesn't really come into play. The only significant hazard is getting in the trees.
Love this course
Play here often. Nice course. Need a beverage cart though
Mosquito City
We love this course but won’t be back until the Mosquitos die off. It was so bad that we were approached by other golfers asking us for Mosquito spray.
By so bad, I’m talking constantly flailing, swatting, and enduring bites on both hands while trying to putt.
