About
Located in between Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, Washtenaw Golf Club, founded in 1899, is one of the most historic clubs in the state of Michigan. The club was private for most of its history, but an ownership change in 2019 turned this venerable layout into one of the area’s best public experiences. The 18-hole course plays 6,512 yards from the championship tees, though there are four sets of tees The club is in the midst of a multi-year restoration and enhancement project, guided by architect Ray Hearn, that includes green enlargements, tree management, and in the installation of some new championship tees. Facilities here include a putting green, small driving range, chipping green, and a large clubhouse, grill and bar, patio and event space.

Very Hard Course
Greens are really hard and difficult. Don’t be above the hole. A couple of impossible pin locations, but overall the course is a fun challenge, especially the par 7 6th.

Fast, true rolling, undulating greens.
The course was in great condition even after about an inch and a half rain overnight. Fairways were cut and the greens were quick. The only problem I found were the sand traps. Sand was course and hard packed in most bunkers and the depth of sand under the ball varied enough that I couldn't play a consistent sand shot around the greens. I did enjoy my round. Next time I will try harder to avoid the sand.

Walk Back in Time
Fantastic, old school former private golf course in a parkland setting. Surprisingly rolling terrain for the middle of Ypsilanti. Course conditions were perfect. Fairly open off the tees, this course gets tougher (while extremely fair) as you get closer to the flags. With hard & fast greens protected by well-placed bunkers, this course is a paradise for golfers who enjoy approach shots, and heaven on Earth for short game enthusiasts.

Great classic architecture at an affordable price
Great classic architecture golf course that tests all aspects of your game. For only 6.5k yards from the tips, you will hit almost every club in your bag which is a great complement for me. Greens here have great undulations and greens were firm and fast allowing you to use the slopes on the greens. Only knock I would have is there is no aiming points for some the blind approaches into greens so previous knowledge or driving/walking ahead to see the green does help. Overall this course is a must play for me several times a year even though I live 45 minutes away

Great Old Country club course
Always a pleasure to play this old country club. Staff is always pleasant and cordial. Pace of play here can be very fast or a bit slower. It only takes 1 group to slow the pace. It was busy this day and we played at about 4:20 pace.This is not far off the recommended time.Narrow fairways and little higher cut rough increases the degree of difficulty. Starter said they were preparing for an amatuer tournament in the coming weeks so they were notching up the degree of difficulty a bit..especially the green speeds!! Very quick!! Alot of fun since I tend to like those more than the SLOW ones. I try to play this as often as I can because it offers a great challenge even though it is not the longest in distance. In my later years I can appreciate courses in the 6300 plus range being made harder by increasing green sppeds and allowing the rough to grow a bit higher. Greens are also fairly small in size so it does require an accurate approach shot to score.Some sand and water come into play on several holes to add to the challenge. If you are near this course..play it if you like old school courses that challenge you to use all the clubs in your bag...
