About
Located in between Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, Washtenaw Golf Club, founded in 1899, is one of the most historic clubs in the state of Michigan. The club was private for most of its history, but an ownership change in 2019 turned this venerable layout into one of the area’s best public experiences. The 18-hole course plays 6,512 yards from the championship tees, though there are four sets of tees The club is in the midst of a multi-year restoration and enhancement project, guided by architect Ray Hearn, that includes green enlargements, tree management, and in the installation of some new championship tees. Facilities here include a putting green, small driving range, chipping green, and a large clubhouse, grill and bar, patio and event space.

Pretty good….but
I like this course. But man the greens were chewed up pretty badly today. I don’t recall them
Being so poor last time I played. I had a few putts hit a bump and completely change direction. Pace of play was great on front but back slowed significantly. Fairways are good. Overall I like the course.

Great old school course
Fun course, staff was friendly. Course in very good shape overall. Greens were a little marked up due to a large outing that day. Will be back.

Great Course
Excellent course with plenty of hilly conditions and undulating greens. If you’re a golfer who likes to shape the flight both ways, this is the course for you! Also, the carts have GPS distance “scopes”.
The greens are very fast if you happen to leave your ball above cups. This was a private course back in the day, so it’s a very interesting layout and even a lamppost which alerts the group behind that you have crossed the bridge on the ninth hole! Great idea.

Course was nice! Conditions were pretty good, given the rain that the course took during the day. The biggest negative is that the pace of play was AWFUL. Two group back ups on every tee and groups taking multiple mulligans on the back nine while groups are waiting.

Bads:
- Cart girl was rude
- Pace of play was so slow we quit after 13 holes at (5 hours)

Great course, challenges my level of play and sinking a long putt that bends and breaks on these greats are always the highlights of my rounds. On the hunt to join a course membership and right now WGC is top of that list in the A2 area.

Do you like to walk?
Postage stamp greens, narrow fairways, tall trees, plush fairways, moderate rough, and greens nearby the tee box. Wonderful, old school, walking course built in 1899. Reminds me of Glen Echo CC in St. Louis , Mo built in 1901, where I learned to caddy and of course, play golf. Exceptional staff willing to help.
