About
Located in between Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, Washtenaw Golf Club, founded in 1899, is one of the most historic clubs in the state of Michigan. The club was private for most of its history, but an ownership change in 2019 turned this venerable layout into one of the area’s best public experiences. The 18-hole course plays 6,512 yards from the championship tees, though there are four sets of tees The club is in the midst of a multi-year restoration and enhancement project, guided by architect Ray Hearn, that includes green enlargements, tree management, and in the installation of some new championship tees. Facilities here include a putting green, small driving range, chipping green, and a large clubhouse, grill and bar, patio and event space.

This course is in championship competition golf condition. Everything is country club groomed. Greens are fast and roll true. Simply perfect

Great Course
What a beautiful and well maintained course. Came to visit my family for a few days and had an opportunity to play my first Michigan course. The greens were better than some courses I’ve played in Florida. Very nice fairways and I loved the narrow fairways and holes that forced you to choose your shot wisely. A must play if you are visiting the Ann Arbor area.

Challenging
Very challenging course. Penalizes you harshly if you don't hit greens, as they are mostly small and very fast. Course was in excellent shape. Wouldn't mind playing again now that I know the layout.

Continues to improve with gradual restoration
Since it went public, Washtenaw is already on the short list of best public-access courses in Ann Arbor-Ypsi (along with Eagle Crest). I'm very pleased to see the new owners making all the right moves with their restoration project. Since playing it last summer, they have done a lot of tree management and are working to expand many of the greens. I was also tipped off to some new back tees being planned in the future to challenge the young pups. Since they can't close the course down to make these improvements all at once, the project will be gradual over several years. Nevertheless, the course already feels more open than it did (including the 15th and 18th holes) and the turf and playability is also benefitting already. There are some great par 5s out here, which is surprising considering it's such an old course, and some clever green complexes. The vibe here is awesome. Very welcoming after a century of being private. Keep up the great work, y'all!

First time playing
We started out after 12:00 the first 9 holes were trampled a bit but the back nine were great. The staff was super friendly. Well kept course some bumpy cart path areas. We had a great time.

Ranger presence
I think pace of play would benefit from more of a ranger presence. We had a 4 some ahead of us with 2 players that didn’t belong on the tips trying to play them resulting in an open hole ahead of them.
We understand that pace of play is key to your game and we work hard to deliver a great golfing experience for everyone. We hope you'll give us another shot soon.
Great shape and greens fast and true
Despite the weather being wet last few days course was in phenomenal shape and greens were fast.

Feels like a Country Club
Wastenaw Country Club was a pleasant surprise. What can I say....everything was excellent here. The course was in great shape and the greens were respective and rolled well. The carts were brand new and it felt like a Country Club. Definitely will go back.

Do not hesitate. First time playing the course. Went to college in the area and was a private club then. For the price I paid, $35, it’s a no brained. Greens were the best I’ve played all season.

Beautiful course
Course was awesome just like a donald ross course is, tight fairways, pretty much open, sloping greens, definitely will be back!

Enjoyable Course Needs a Ranger
One belligerent foursome of one elderly guy with 3 ladies really slowed up the pace of play. They were ignoring golf etiquette and not waving through faster groups behind them. Three groups skipped a hole on the back 9 to bypass them. A ranger would have helped
Otherwise it was a really good course layout with enough challenges for most levels of play
