good conditions but...
Greens and fairways were consistent. Course layout can be akward at times with parallel fairways/holes going the same direction. Challenging pins to be sure. Did enjoy the actual golf.
75 and sunny and not a beverage cart in sight? Not a one, all round. What gives? My mouth was so dry by the time we finally came up on a water dispenser, and then it was empty. No way to run a golf course.
We had a group of 4 and the two in the opposite cart had theirs break down/run out of juice on the 8th hole. Though the rescue cart was prompt considering the proximity to the clubhouse, the delay caused a significant buckle in the pace behind us.
Nice course for Beginners & above
Nice mix of par 5, 4, & 3.
Good for Beginners to learn how to play long.
But still challenging for the better players.
Play was slow at times. Never saw the drink cart.
It's worth the value.
Would maybe recommend playing afternoon sometime.
Course was in pretty good shape but would advise playing in the afternoon after the grounds crew are finished. The backside is pretty challenging. #7 had me hitting a 4 wood to the end of the fairway, but still had about 178 to the pin. May have to try and take driver over the ditch next time. It's a fun little course but nothing special. Would play again if in the area.
Good day at Bluff
Very pleasant day at Bluff... Pace of play was good and the course is in very good shape this year. The staff is more than helpful and pleasant.
Terrific value for your golfing dollar.
This is a fun coarse
This is a fun coarse to play with some harder holes than others.
Need to know course to know were to play your shot so you attack your approach shot on a couple holes.
Horrible golf course
Poor conditions course is badly design and value is not worth the full price. Would play for $15 or less.
Great course
Beautiful course, close to the cities. Some very challenging holes.
Great Monday
I visited with my brother and father-in-law. The course was perfect for our Monday morning together. The price was just right for an early morning round with carts. We had a great time and would consider returning in the future.
Very well kept
Very nice course, the back 9 is more challenging than the front 9.
Some great par 3s and character holes.
Really enjoyed this course. GPS on cart is great. First time playing back nine and some local knowledge is great.
Greens in great shape but some plug marks on some greens. Fairways also in great shape with water challenges here and there.
Friendly staff.
All round very enjoyable.
Holiday slow down
Played early on the 4th and was very slow rangers could have done a bit more. Great course variety of holes/shots. Fun
Very nice course
We found the course challenging and in good shape. Our foursome played in under four hours and the staff was very nice.
pushed aside customer
I set up my tee time fair and square and paid for it. When it came time for my tee off the golf course found a bigger group that wanted to play aka more money for them. So I was kicked aside and was told I could join another group of random people that I didn't want to play with and it was very obvious they didn't want me with them either. This was the second time in a row this has happened to me. I'll never go back to this course if they have to choose between making 50 bucks or losing a customer they will take the 50 bucks every time. The manager was present for all of this.
Nice Suprise.
I had not played Bluff Creek in years and was pleasantly surprised Sunday by the improved conditions of the course.
Keep in mind much of my reserved ratings were based on the fact that we had multiple inches of rain the day previous. I will review the course again when it has a chance to dry.
Greens were in great shape considering the rough Winter and wet Spring. Tee boxes need worked on a bit but not unplayable. Pace was solid and just over 4 hours on a Sunday is outstanding.
Clubhouse is old and they need more food. Beverage service was reasonable.
Excellent greens
Greens rolling quite well even with plenty of rain on us....great value with golfnow.....very very challenging .........after a couple of trips you'll know where not to hit your ball...club selection paramount ........good luck!
Bluff Creek
Overall, the course was good condition considering all the rain received lately. The rough was very long so accuracy was crucial. The greens were in excellent shape as were the fairways. The pin placements on some holes were difficult. This would be a difficult course to walk because of the hills. I would recommend this course to a friend. You may want to call ahead to see if the rough has been mowed.
Worth the trip
I played Bluff Creek for the 2nd time yesterday and came away even more impressed with it this time than I did before. It takes a bit of effort to get there right now due to road construction but it is definitely worth the trip, especially if you get a great rate on GolfNow.
The course was in very good shape with the only exception being #14. In this case the fairway was very wet. In fact it was so wet that the turf was bubbling up and when you walked on it it was like walking on one of those inflatable jumping rides. Apparently all the excess water on the course must funnel right down to this fairway and accumulate. All in all it's a very minor grievance.
My only other complaint with this course is hole #12 which I feel is a very unfair hole, especially for the average golfer. I know this is their signature hole but the complexity level is outrageous.
The rest of the round was great. The pace of play was good at just under 4 hours. I walked the course and you definitely feel it when you are done as it is quite hilly, especially on the back nine.
All in all I would recommend checking out Bluff Creek. The course is challenging, and well kept. The staff is friendly and I'm sure you will come away wanting to come back again.
Slim Fairways, solid course but not my favorite
Overall Bluff Creek is a nice track that is in decent shape but there are some conditions that took away from the overall enjoyment of the round. The fairways are very narrow at Bluff Creek, which isn't a problem rather a nice challenge. However the cut of the rough was terrible and it made finding slightly mishit shots very tough and time consuming. Overall its not a bad course, but not my favorite.
Solid Course
First time at this course and I had a great time. Will definitely be going again.
fun course for the money
We had a fun time until we ran into a really slow foursome. No ranger came out to speed things up. The course was really pretty. Fun layout, and the fairways were in great shape. The greens were a little rough because players didn't fix their ball marks. Other than that, I really enjoyed it. I will play there again.
Hi Kent,
I enjoyed playing with you Tuesday at Bluff Creek. Hopefully your trip back to Dallas was a good one. If you are ever in the area again and would like to play a round let me know.
