Mississippi Dunes Golf Links

This course was recommended by someone who lives in the area as I was visiting. This course was enjoyable to walk and play. A good mix of holes using the river and tributaries added to the beauty.

The only thing I would have like to have known, as it was my first time playing the course, was that you pass the clubhouse from the 8th green to #9. And that #9 is labeled as #10. That led to some confusion as I thought I had missed a hole. Not the break of concentration you'd want in a round.

Staff was very friendly! I'd go back for sure.

Fun course, fast greens. Back nine is tight, T boxes are not labeled well and the back nine zig zags through itself.

I've played Mississippi Dunes three times in the last year or so and have had a great experience each time. Be warned, though; this course can eat you alive if your iron play is off. Greens are well-maintained but extremely undulated. On many holes, missing the green by two yards will result in your ball rolling 30 yards downhill, leaving a difficult chip just to save par. In spite of the frustrations I had on the course, each hole is unique and visually stunning. I will definitely be back.

What is going on in the clubhouse? Before you even get started they aggrivate you by charging you a $10 cart key fee. NEVER have i had to pay a key deposit anywhere. They said they had carts stolen so they want to make sure you don't steal the key. So the course was in great shape, we played the "royal" course meaning they closed hole 9 and shortened 11 and made a par 3. No one mentioned that before we played. After we finished, I was driving home and remembered I had forgotten my key deposit. I had to drive back to the course to reclaim my $10. Last time I was there the clubhouse attended was relentlessly trying to exchange my $10 for two premium beers. What a shame, nice course but I first felt like a criminal, then like a salesman was trying to take an extra $10. Ownership needs to focus on service not trying to nickel and dime the patrons. The course is great, the clubhouse has the feel of a par three muni.

Typically Mississippi Dunes is one of my favorites; not this time. The conditions of the greens and tee boxes ruined the experience. The greens were so unbelievably slow that putting was impossible. The tees were in rough shape with very little grass. Mississippi Dunes would've served themselves well if they would have offered a discounted round.

Prepare to battle for pars. Only flat spot on the course is the tee, and the wind is always blowing. The Dunes is an excellent challenge, but can be very frustrating. Every hole demands a well placed tee shot as the course is riddled with dunes and guarded fairways. Most holes the greens will be elevated and are very quick. Even for April 16th they were fast. This course and location is like you are up north in a woodsy setting, there are no houses in the area so it feels like you are in the wilderness, except for an occasional passing train - which is actually kind of cool. The course it-self can be tricky at best - so bring your "A" game or at least a good wedge- which you will need ! it has a good mix of 6- par 3's, 6 par 4's and 6- par 5's which is unique in-itself. it is always in great condition and pace of play is great! My favorite part is the front 9 holes which are fun and very picturesque ! cant wait to play it again .

I've played this course as often as my work and MN PGA card allow and haven't ever had a bad experience. Even when I played horrible and lost about 9 balls, its easy just to look up and enjoy the scenery and keep playing.

3Stars of off course amenities is that I just haven't used them enough to know for sure.

I will say that I have played this course at least 10 times over the past few years, even though I live 45 mins away. The staff is extremely friendly and super accommodating. I have been there a few times where the beverage cart was slow to get around the course, but I think that had more to do with the golfers than the cart girl....now on to the course.

The course is always in phenomenal shape. I prefer fast greens and these never disappoint. I would certainly rate this as one of the most challenging courses in the Cities and here is why. Every green is elevated and they cut down all the rough surrounding the greens, so if you aren't throwing darts, the ball will roll into collection areas. The greens have some of the largest undulations that I have ever played and mix that in with fast greens, and you are in for a test. The layout is very fair and I really like the non standard amount of Par 5s, 4s, and 3s. Just look at the scorecard and you will see what I mean. This is a great course that doesnt get a ton of press for being in such great shape and provides a challenge to your game. My home course is The Wilds and I would say this course tests me more than The Wilds. I highly recommend checking this course out, you won't be disappointed.

Showed up for my early morning tee time on Saturday with 5 groups waiting to tee off on the first hole. Course was slow the entire round, couldn't hit my driver much on the front nine.

Possibly the most beautiful course of its kind, in the world. Designed to be challenging, it lives up to its intent. Staff was friendly and helpful. Menu limited for the end of the season but the pulled pork is to die for. Mississippi Dunes should not be missed.

Co use was very good shape, beutiful place to play in the fall.

The course was creatively challenging, especially the greens. It's not a long course but there's a lot of undulation. The views on each hole or spectacular, right on the Mississippi River.

The course was in excellent shape. Many par 3 and 5 holes. In general a long course. Straight hitting required. Many holes with fairway hazards. Beautiful scenic holes especially on the front 9. If you don't have your A game bring a lot of balls. Only issues: The signage between holes are inconsistent. One hole is a par 4 or 5 option with 2 greens but no mentioned is made of this on the scorecard (confusing for 1st time players).

Who designed this course?
It's a cross between a very nice golf course with a mini golf layout.
Right on the Mississippi River - could be one of the best courses in the state.
They layout of the course is poor.
Greens and fairways are in great shape - very nice.
The remaining parts of the course need some attention.

If you can get a Golf Now special or another deal - will be a good value.
Paying there full asking rates, not a chance.

I have golfed all over the cities and this is still one my favorite course.
It offers plenty of challenges, a few risk/reward holes and greens that will punish you if you left your a game at home.
Really is a fun course even if it costs me a few strokes :)

So the course is very fun and tough your first go around. Tee boxes need some work but greens are very nice. I was very disappointed in the service and lack thereof. No beverage cart on the course. No starter.... Poorly staffed! At the turn I I went to grab a drink and there was nobody inside working the clubhouse period! If it weren't for the hot deal I would have been very upset. Also no GPS in carts they have been removed. So bring your own or a laser because you will need the help. Also the tee areas have are poorly marked. The experience is not just about the course! Get it together.

Got hot deal plus 30% off. Had 715 am tee time and was a single. Played 18 in 2:30. Group ahead let me through. Lots of lost balls because I wasn't straight. Course was in excellent shape. Greens are tricky because they are all elevated with shaved areas around greens. Needs more signage on hole layout as I missed #15 and had to ask mower. Would play again and do better since I know layout. Could be slow pace if course is busy because of all of the blind shots

Everything about this course was fine except the design around the greens. Every green was elevated. A carbuncle if you will at the end of the fairway. If you carry a 64 degree wedge in your bag and can use it this is your course. The pins were tucked surrounded by steep inclines and you need to know which way to miss, not always apparent if you have never played the course. There are some beautiful spots on this course. However the pimples at the end of the fairway were a big disappointment and very frustrating. You need more than a good short game to get it up down on this course.

The course and the setting. are very nice. Tee boxes were pretty beat up but fairways and greens were decent. The course is not easy but very playable for most abilities. Ladies tee is non existent on some holes but that's not all bad.
We played on a Golfnow hot deal so it was well worth the money. If we had paid full price it would have been a disappointment. They do not manage the groups well. Should be matching up twosomes to make foursomes to speed up play. We waited at least 5 minutes on almost every shot so it was quite frustrating. The deck looks out to the backwaters of the Mississippi River so it is pretty nice. Heard the food was good but we didn't eat.
Would go back if we got a good deal again but not for full price.
