Michigan Golf in November
Great Day Good Weather in The Mitten . Cart Path Only but still Golfing in Michigan in November
Fall Golf
Course is in great shape. Greens appeared to have been punched a week or two ago and were rolling great!
Needs Mowing
Never again will I play this course when it is cart path only and if the rough stays as long as it is. Fairways were nicely manicured but, the rough was 4" high. I measured it.
I Always Enjoy St. Clair Shores Golf Club
Course and weather were perfect. I was paired up with two really good golfers. And I shot my best round of the year. What's not to like?
Well maintained course
I like St. Clair Shores But it's always Slow play. They must over book and always hook you up with other people Which this time actually ruined our day on the course, hitting multiple balls racing all over course. Total chaos !!! We play Twice a week at other courses that don't hook you up. Slow play is a killer. They need to monitor the course much closer. They need to offer more Hot Deals for Golf Now we would golf their twice A week.
Good morning,
Thank you for playing at the St. Clair Shores Golf Club. I would like to address a few of your concerns. We book our tee sheet on 9 minute intervals and I do ask our staff to not take any walk ins unless a spot is open. We deem a normal 18 hole round time as 4 hours and 30 minutes, hopefully you did not exceed that. While we understand people do not like to be paired up we cannot operate in such a fashion if the tee sheet is full. If we allowed everyone to play solo or as a twosome then our tee times would fall behind dramatically. We would encourage those folks to come out at slower times as we are more likely to accommodate your request. We provide a ranger on the course daily starting at 9am, my apologies if they weren't visible on your day of play. Please don't hesitate to ask the ranger any questions in the event you run into slow play or need anything else. The hot deals are not offered by the SCSGC, they are offered by Golfnow.com, we do not have control over the hot deals. If you have any other questions, comments, or concerns please don't hesitate to contact Rob Spinazzola at 586-294-2000 ext. 2. Thanks and we hope to see you again soon!
St. Clair So Good
Always a fun time playing this course. I scrambled my way around for a decent score,
Always in superb shape
My first time playing SCS in a couple of years. The course is extremely well-kept. Pace of play is often said to be quite slow, but no issues today - we were around in about 4 hours exactly with a foursome, and several groups ahead of us. We never bottle-necked or got the feeling that we were being held up, nor holding up the groups behind us. Rangers were very visible, friendly, and helpful.
The course is quite short, and should be easy, but I failed to take advantage. It's the kind of course where one should have a shot at shooting one of their lowest numbers. The course was in pristine condition in every aspect - tees, fairways, rough, bunkers, and greens. Not to mention top-notch carts and paved, smooth cart paths. At $20 with a Golf Now hot deal, it was a great bargain. I've missed playing here, will definitely make it a more regular part of our rotation.
Great Value on a HotBuy
Consistent greens and lush fairways make this course a pleasure to play. Forgiving layout lends to good scoring opportunities. On the shorter side , even from the tips, great for working on mid to long irons from the tees. Restaurant on site along with beverage cart will keep even the thirstiest players satisfied.
Always A Fun Course To Play
It was hot! But the course was in great shape and I got to play with three great gentlemen. We teed off around 10:30 a.m. but the only downside was the traps had not been raked. About halfway through round a worker was finally getting to it. Management needs to speak to this guy. He was oblivious to golfers approaching green listening to music with ear buds and no hard hat. We don't want to kill the guy and he should have better sense to know golfers can't always control their shots.
Promise Kept
Last week when I played here I commented about the rough being way to long. I was assured it would be mowed before the next time I played there. That promise was kept and the whole course was in great shape. Good job!! I'll be back again next week.
Fun With Grandson
My 7 year old grandson and I enjoyed ourselves playing this course in a scramble format. Children under 17 golf free here with a full paid green fee in their midst. The pace of play was slow due to a high number of inexperienced golfers on the course, but we did not care!
Still the Same
No surprises....it was still very slow play. The rough was very deep (almost up to my ankles). Growing seed on top of the blades. There was no first cut of rough it just went from nice fairway to deep grass. If they want to speed up play the rough should be cut so one doesn't spend 5 minutes looking for their ball when it was only two feet off the fairway.
Good morning, My name is Rob Spinazzola and I'm the operations manager for the St. Clair Shores Golf Club. I want to give you a couple reasons why the rough was so long when you played on Tuesday. This May we received over double the amount of rain we normally get in addition to the hot temperatures right after creating a quicker than normal grow rate. To add to that two of our machines that mow both our baseball diamonds and the golf course rough broke down, essentially creating a perfect storm. I can assure all that we are working very hard to get caught back up on the issue. We do not want the rough any longer than it has been in prior years as it lends to a lot of lost golf balls (even some of mine!) and slow play. As of this typing we should be caught up on the issue by today. Please contact me further to discuss at 586-294-2000 ext. 2.
A solid city golf course
A well kept up golf course. Fairway and greens were good and rough was very long due to wet spring. Could use a first cut rough as fairways are narrow. Plenty of bunkers to keep golfers honest.
Nice course, Long rough
SCS Country Club is a nice little layout, the fairways and greens are in great shape. Don't go into the rough, however, some places were 6" and very thick right off the fairway. The goofy spring weather has made it difficult for the staff to keep everything cut at an appropriate level. I was assured that they are working to get things perfect.
Hi Sue,
Thank you for your glowing review of the St. Clair Shores Golf Club. I can assure we are doing are best to stay on top of it, the weather got a little crazy on us. We hope to see you again soon!
SCS Management
Beautiful Course
This course is always well maintained, The ruff is deep right now which slows down play trying to find your ball, fairways are always good (bent grass). Very clean I Love this course. I hope they put out more HOT DEALS for Golf Now members. We try and play twice a week so we have to go where we can save money retired now.
Thank you for the excellent review of our golf club. The weather got wild on us but I can assure you we are doing our best to get caught back up. We hope to see you many more times this season and for seasons to come!
SCS Management
Thanks for the 5 star review. We hope to see you again this season!
SCS Management
Thank you for the 4 star review. I hope that when you return we can provide a 5 star experience. We hope to see you again soon!
SCS Management
Good morning, thank you for spending your time with us at SCS Golf Club. We do understand your concern about the rough but we do not purposely keep it at this length. However this past week has brought us over 4” of rain and two days of complete closures. Unfortunately that has made it almost impossible for us to get our heavy machinery on to the golf course and mow. If we did it would likely result in the machines getting stuck. It does not benefit us in any way to have longer rough. If you have played here before I hope you understand this is not the norm for us. Normal rough cut is 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 inches. The rough is long due to factors that were out of our control. I hope you decide to give us another chance in the future. If you would like to discuss further please contact Rob at 586-294-2000 ext. 2.
Thank you
