ABSOLUTELY A WASTE OF MONEY
Staff:
One staffer wasn’t rude but wasn’t very welcoming. Two people said “good morning” walking in and both got zero response. He got the system going and then left. Starter was an absolute moron. We requested west and north because we knew South would be trashed. He then decided it would be a genius idea to send us to South to start off. What an idiot.
Course conditions:
No way this place should be charging full price! $67 for this flooded, currently diseased course is a complete ripoff. There’s google reviews from 3 weeks ago talking about course conditions (not from the rain) and the course is still the same.
Tee boxes are unleveled and beat to dirt. Most fairways are all mud. Zero grass. Most balls had to picked up and moved backwards because the fairways were either flooded or all mud. 3 of our 18 holes instructed us go to the other side of the River and tee off there because the fairway was all mud and being “repaired”. Two par 5s were turned into Par 3s all under 140 yards because of this and we were still charged full price. Ridiculous.
Pace of Play:
They have three sets of 9 holes. Our group of 4 had a 6:30am tee time. Played the first half in 2 hours. Made the turn and had to wait for three additional groups on the tee box before we could start our back 9. Poor management and poor coordination between the staff. Groups making the turn should have priority over the groups that are just now coming in. Took us 3 hours to finish the back 9 because of this poor coordination between the starter. 5 hours total when it really should have been 4 hours.
We are never coming to play here again and I’m contemplating putting in a claim to receive my money back. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had golfing. These golf courses in Macomb need to be shut down for their lack of management.
Actually got to finish
I was able to play 18 holes in 2hours 45 mins. It was early morning day after 4th of July. Several holes in rough shape from flooding and no discounted rate for losing 2 par 5’s that were turned into par 3’s. Take notes from bee tee who offer the discounted price because of the conditions on a couple of holes.
Poor Conditions
Fairways are burnt out and dead from flooding. Greens are burnt out and damaged. $70 for this course is not worth it all. It used to be a really nice course.
Course conditions are subpar
Every tee box is beat up. Multiple Par 5’s are cut down to par 3’s due to terrible fairways conditions. Multiple greens are riddled with disease, honestly the course needs to just take a pause and let everything grow back and heal then I’ll gladly pay full price. Paying $67 for that on the weekend is absurd.
Ehhhhhh
Honestly super disappointed, usually play this course several times a summer and enjoy it. I can’t believe they didn’t disclose either pre-booking or when talking to starter that 2 of the par 5’s were completely under construction and instead it’s a drop shot for a 150 yard par 3 now.
I understand it’s rained a lot and they are doing the best to repair quickly, but I felt like the rate they are charging for 6 short par 3’s (and not being told ahead of time) was crappy.
Will be back as I believe they are a solid track and they keep things very nice, but for a $75 round on the weekend to get that was bad.
Course Terrible Condition
With the course in terrible condition the play was very slow. Rangers need to monitor pace of play. Plus golfers need to play ready golf when they’re behind a 1 hole.
This course was to strict
For the last 4 holes I had a ranger on watching us because he said we were moving slow when the group in front of us were going slow. Tee box’s were filled with broken tees. The course of over booked.
Course is in good condition, but....
......the tee boxes are terrible.
Inexcusable condition.
Windy round
Course is in great shape greens well maintained.
Would recommend this course to all players.
Too much $ for the condition it’s in
Well… Once again, Sycamore has raised their price. But they haven’t equally raised the aesthetic level. $67 to play 18 in the spring when the fairways and greens don’t get blown off, the tee boxes are in bad shape, par five turned into par three because of flooding, dead spots in fairways, rough not cut to proper level, and pace of play hour and 10 minutes on the front line and then make the turn and have five groups in front of me. Only by the grace of people letting me play through was I able to finish in under four hours as a single. They want an immaculate price for a course that’s not immaculate anymore.
Pace of play
Monday round before noon… they have 27 holes and chose to put a solo behind 4 groups of older women and 2 other groups of 2. Think that they definitely could’ve split it up a little better to not cause everyone to play 2.5 hours for 9 holes

Hello, thank you for playing at our facility. I'm sorry you were disappointed in the pace of play. However, the first group you were behind teed off at 8:56am and was back in the clubhouse by 1:06pm for a round of 4 hours and 10 minutes. Their final group teed off at 9:12am and was back in the clubhouse at 1:34pm for a round of 4 hours and 22 minutes. Playing as a single may lead to a faster round but you may be impeded by other groups. I encourage you to call the clubhouse before you book to ask for a tee-time that may move quicker. We are unable to do that when tee-times are made online. Thanks again for playing here and we hope to see you again soon.
Thank you for playing Sycamore Hills and your feedback. Our price is up $3 from last season and we feel it falls right in line with golf courses in Macomb County. In the past year we have made improvements such as: brand new golf carts, a new sea wall around the West 3 and West 4 pond, newly paved cart paths, brand new range balls and brand new hitting mats. Unfortunately, when flooding occurs, it takes a few days for the flooded areas to dry up and heal. We hope to see you again!
