A pretty winter day. Photo submitted by geno929 on 01/20/2013
Course has holes of different types
Great value for the money on golf now if you are somewhat flexible on tee tmes.
Average course
Roughs were very long: any ball missing the fairway was usually lost. This was somewhat understandable with the amount of recent rain in st. louis. However, price should be dependant on course conditions.
Great value, good challenge
Very interesting course with a wide variety of challenges. None so difficult as to frustrate but must think as you go
Like the course but Greens are brutal right now.
I really like this course in general. Makes you use a lot of clubs, great set of par 3s. 18 is one of my favorite holes around, great finishing hole.
This time out 2 of our foursome had never been and after extolling the virtues of the course we found that almost every green on the course had been aerated and resembled sandtraps more than greens. Brutal, when for the same money on golfnow we could ahve gone to several other courses.
Anyone else find it ironic that a golfcourse owned by the pipefitters union doesnt have an irrigation system? I think this is why the greens needed repair after last summer's drought,
enjoyable & challenging
course in good condition & people very friendly...
This course provides you with a wide variety of shots.
I enjoy the wide variety of holes. Plenty of water, trees, narrow and wide fairways and changes in elevation while at the same time not "too hilly" for us amateurs. Fairways are in very good shape for this time of year.
Some great views
The course was very wet because of recent storms and it is a little early in the spring for the grass. The course was still in pretty good shape and they were working to improve it while we were there. Overall very nice course and I will play it again.
best value for your money
Well kept course one of the best courses in area for the money
Not worth the money spent
What a difference a year makes. I played this course last year about the same time and it was in great shape last year. The greens were awful and inconsistent speed wise. Some of the bunkers were basically clay and dirt with little sand. Some of the greens were mowed while others weren't. All in all it was pretty poor and I am going to wait awhile before I go back.
Great layout
Loved the layout, fairways were good, greens were slow bumpy and patchy but it's still early spring so i'll give them a break.I would love to play it again.
Course has holes that are challenging and wonderful to play!
Absolutely loved this course! First played 3 years ago in a charity event as a new golfer only playing for two months. Course was too difficult for me at that time. Now, having played more rounds than I can count at courses all over the country, the difficulty of this course was really fun! Course is beautiful and water holes make you think about approach. Course is well maintained even though coming out of winter. Can't wait to play when everything is totally green again and grass is no longer dormant. Will be my new favorite home course!
decent shape for start of year
fairways although still brown were in good shape, back nine greens were recently aerated and bumpy
Always a great place to play
This is a great course any time of year. The summer and fall seasons are the best because of all the green lush fairways and greens. In the winter season the course doesn't look as good but still a very enjoyable place to play. I never get tired of playing this course. Course was in good shape for mid Feburary. If you haven't played here put it on your list.
Challenging course with great greens
One of the most challenging courses in the St. Louis area. Windy days adds stokes to some par 4's making reaching greens in 2 almost impossible, even for big hitters. Signature hole #17 as a par 3 150-165 over water makes par a good thing. Not a walkers course so don't look to do. Prior to becoming a Walter's managed venue a few greens would suffer from heat during summer. Fans where placed on those that now provides for all to be perfect under the hottest conditions.
In pretty good shape for now, should be even better in summer.
Even though it's early February, the course is in good to great shape. The tee boxes, fairways, bunkers, and greens are in great shape, and the wildlife is active. Look forward to playing again in the near future.
My wife and I love this course. Beautiful, well maintained, interesting and fair for all players.
We play this course often. We have been considering membership but enjoy to play the many other courses in the area.
Emerald Greens is one of the prettiest, if not the prettiest course in the St. Louis area. Sometime we just stare back at the past few holes played and gawk. You really need to see it.
The course is not long. It can be demanding in a target golf sort of way. You will use almost every club in your bag. Sometimes the driver isn't the best choice. Play it a few times and you will be hooked too.
Great Course Layout and Fairway maintnence. Slow Greens
The course layout is absolutely beautfiul. The 18th hole, hitting island to island is one of my favorite holes I have ever played. The course over was very well maintained. My only complaints were that the Course was poorly marked for distances, however it isnt bad enough where you dont know distances. You are always able to figure them out one way or another. But they should try to label all of their sprinklers. Also, the greens were SUPER slow. More slow than any o ther course I have ever played. So it gets some time to get used to. However I STRONGLY recommend people to play this course. I would definately pay full price to play it. However, getting it for 20$ on golfnow is absolutely amazing.
well maintained course
over all a great fun course very challenging. each hole offers a different challenge even to a more expierenced player its a must play
Well worth the price.
Great shape. Very challenging course, I had a great time and will do it again. Especially if there is another deal like that!
