Great Layout but
The course war in good shape except for the greens. I did not expect to pay the charged rate to put through sand on most greens. There are many courses in the area that have much better playing condition for a lot less money. Disappointed.
Greens need some work
Besides about 10-12 greens needing some serious TLC the course was in great shape. Final 3 holes are fun to play and offer great risk reward golf. Would like to play it again once they get the greens in better shape.
Great course trending down
I play Greystone about 8-10 times a year and my first round there this year was quite disappointing. Quite a few patchy spots all around the greens, so severe to the point the couldnt rotate their pin placements (front, middle, back) like they normally do.
This is beginning to be a growing trend at Greystone the past few years. You can certainly argue that this is mainly due to it just being early in the year. Normally, I'd buy that argument but having played there enough over the years and been to other public tracks already, there course maintenance was by far the worst its been. Between the green conditions right now and their bunkers, there is definite work to be done to get things back where they normally are at. Hope they can get things fixed up quickly since it's such a great, fun and challenging layout.
Some of the tee boxes could also use some leveling as well. Most notably #2, 14 and 17.
Great course with up-north feel
This course was excellent with a challenging layout and well maintained greens and fairways. Holes 6, 16 and 18 are must play holes. If you want to take your game to the next level, this is one of the best courses in Southeast Michigan.
Interesting layout
Course needs to maintain the tee boxes much better-the ladies/far forward tee boxes were a joke-crowned in the middle-very poor condition. Greens weren't great either-they still have dead sections from the winter kill we had this year. And so many players don't know how to fix ball marks-such a shame-perhaps the Pro shop needs to ask players if they know how to fix them. Need more sand available to fix divots.
Better places to play
The clubhouse refused to serve my drink neat! Said they were not that kind of place. I have golfed and had my drink served neat all over the world and have never been insulted this way, with the insinuation that serving drinks neat somehow tarnishes the club in which it is served. The place has no class. As to the golf, it was so so. Their clam of the best finish in Mi golf is way overstated.
Love Greystone
This course is always a good challenge. Course is always in good shape and service is great. The last 3 holes is the best finish in Michigan golf
tough year for greens!
I've played this course many times in the past, but this was the first time out this year. I was somewhat disappointed in the conditions of the greens. You can tell that they were hit pretty hard this winter and they are still bumpy and bear in spots. Other than that, fairways and rough were in great shape! And for $28 I won't complain too much. Would hate to pay full price to play it though, not with the greens in that condition.
Nice
Great course. Nice staff. Greens were a little beat up but that's the norm for courses in the area after the harsh winter. I plan on playing there many more times.
Get ready for the last two holes…
Just hit it straight and you will be fine…not very forgiving.
Great course!
First time playing Greystone so i wasn't sure what to expect. After the round i can easily say this is one of my favorite courses. The course has a nice layout and is in great condition.
Memorable course, greens still recovering
Balanced course for beginners and advanced golfers with challenges scattered through the 18 holes. Multi-tiered greens were true but tough due to the winter damage.
The clincher for this course is the well appointed clubhouse with a beautiful patio overlooking the finishing holes (16, 17 & 18). As you drown your pain with a cold one, you're able to witness the trials of others.
Looking forward to playing here again !!!
nice place with nice greens
i really enjoyed playing this course, we got a deal on golf now for 60% off, so for the price its a great track.
the course is very fair & the greens are very quick,
but i had one issue, if your ball rolls off the fairway the amount of dogwood pollen makes finding your ball very challenging.
will play again if the deal is right.
Greystone is awesome!
Staff is super friendly and accommodating, very pleasant all around. Course is beautiful! Well worth the money to play.
I love the last 3 holes.
The last 3 holes are very challenging. Ball placement is important
Excellent value
Thus course is challenging with some great holes 18 is a great finishing hole.
Way awesome!
Enjoyed everything about this course from the staff to the wonderful sights from numerous holes.
Best back nine in the state
course always in top condition. the course is tight but fair
Pricey - but worth it - good challenging picturesque course for Macomb Co
Enjoyed this course - it is tricky but enjoyable with only one or two overly difficult holes. The last 3 holes are a lot of fun. It was $59 online for it which seemed about right (no bargain / not over priced). Course was in good shape - the greens were true.
Love the last 3 finishing holes. Makes this course.
Unfortunately it was a 5 hour round. It probably would have been longer but they had an evening mens league who called and complained about slow play. It seems there was a twosome
that got 2 holes behind. No ranger to move them along - again until the mens league complained. You would have thought that when they made the turn at 2 1/2 hours someone would have been on them - especially if they came in 1/2 an hour or so behind the group in front of them. This is why many of us avoid this course even though we love it.
