Overall good course
Not very challenging, but other than a few overrun by geese the course is fairly well kept.
We were rushed to finish our practice range session so they could pair us up with a twosome that was set to tee off 15min before us.
We really enjoy this course
Nice course play was slow on this day usually plays faster
But course was great shape considering weather
This course is difficult but fair
I'm a 12 handicap, but this course eats me up every time I play it. You have to be thinking about what you are doing on every shot. I have yet to break 90 at Greystone, but I never feel like it was because of some contrived course layout that makes the course overly difficult. But, you also do not get any holes off, any one of them can result if a double bogey or worse if you don't pay attention to what you are doing - especially off the tee. I'm going to keep trying to post a good score there, I know it can be done, but need to be ready to go off the first tee by hitting the range first.
Tough finish
Challenging layout, especially the finishing holes. Course test the long and short game.
Pace of play was awesome!
teed off at 10am on a beautiful Saturday morning..could not believe we played in 4 hours! Course was in good shape for a late arriving spring. Greens still had a few marks from aeration.
Challenging and beautiful layout!
The course was in great shape considering the early season conditions. 16 - 18 are three of the most beautiful, and challenging, golf holes I've ever played!
Good course
Course is nice and kept up well. When I played it this year, both times were in early April when the weather was cold and windy both days in tournaments. Greens were cut short and fast, but bumpy. Wait till the summer to play it. Last three holes are fairly cool if you have never played em.
Lives up to "Best finishing holes" hype
Gorgeous course!
Mix of open and tight treelined fairways.
Undulating greens.
Interesting little track
With all the great courses in Detroit, it would be easy to dismiss Greystone as a relatively uninspired course. It won't grab the accolades of Shepherd's Hollow or Moose Ridge, but Greystone is certainly one to play. Greystone touts its closing trio (16-18) as the trademark of the property, but I actually find those holes to be contrived. Far better holes are seen on the par 3 6th and some of the par 4's that do a wonderful job of shifting the fairway in the landing areas and challening you off the tee box. At the GolfNow rate, this is a great place to play.
