Long day on the course
The place was packed and so we ended up waiting 30 minutes past our tee time to tee off. The course was in average shape with a few wet spots and several dead spots, but for the price, it was better than expected. We were on the course for 5 hours because it was moving so slow.
Nice course but slow play
First time playing Tamarack. Nice course and good conditions. I am told new management has made significant improvements in the conditions. Nice open layout and the greens rolled well. Not a bad value for the money if you judge on the course alone. However, the place of play is ridiculous. We arrived for a 2:52 tee time and we were told that they were backed up over a half hour. The place looked like Six Flags Great Adventure. We finally tee’d off after 3:30 and proceeded to play a five hour round. We barely made it in before dark and groups were stacked up back to back to back behind us. This course is extremely overbooked. Management should take a trip down to Mercer Oaks (Mercer County) to see how a 36 hole County course should be run. Won’t be back for the simple fact that I don’t have over 6 hours available to spend at the golf course.
Back up on first tee
We had a 2;28 tee time. We were told 10 minutes for carts after checking in, Starter tells us 45 minutes. 50 minutes later a way we go. Played East course the West had longer backup.
Dog track, cow pasture fairways greens okay
Fairways were rock hard, no grass in spots. Apparently there isn’t sprinklers in the fairways so they get rock hard quickly and the grass dies. The greens were okay, of course there was a fair share of ball marks not repaired by golfers. At least I did see sprinklers around the greens. The pace of play is awful and another thing is they allow way too many people on, the pace of play was glacial. I wouldn’t play here again.
Future gem
I've played Tammarack for many years. It's a municipal 36 hole course. That in itself makes it unique. New golf professional management
has really made an impact. You can see tremendous work being done. Its look has changed . The greens have definitely gotten better. Not as good as Morris county courses, like Berkshire. However, the greens roll alot better. Fairways are much better also. Tee boxes are being worked on. I think within a year or two , Tammarack will really shine.
Weekend rounds still take about 5 hrs. They need to get a handle on that. Overall a "good" course and value.
5 hour round
I played this course twice the first time was a four hour and 45 in around I thought maybe was just busy for the day so I gave the course a second chance and it got even worse it was a five hour round I should have known something was up when the teetimes they were offered were only eight minutes apart so that means the course is definitely over crowded no rangers they don’t seem to care and the person I was playing with said five our rounds are the norm so I guess they just don’t care there you’ll never see a penny of my money there again
Great day with my boys
Staff as usual was friendly however once again the course seemed over booked. Course was in pretty good shape and the greens were fast. A little disappointed by the pace of play but any time out with my sons is a great day
First time on course
Played the EAST COURSE along with one other. Great shape, fantastic layout.
Could not beat price, clean carts, very friendly staff no hassles at all.
Will be back very soon and looking to sit in the restaurant have a meal and beer
EXCELLENT
Nice course, slow pace
We had to wait 30 minutes to tee off due to no carts. First Tee we were 3 grouping. During the COVID time table of every 16 minutes for tee off, it doesn’t apply here. Course lay out and condition was good.
The course was in good shape and the pace of play was really good. I would definitely play this course again in the near future.
Great pandemic course!
The course is in great shape, greens are pretty good. Only complaint I had was that I was sandwiched between two foursomes for some reason? I had to play alone and wait a good 5-10 minutes in between most holes. Only complaint I had though. Keep up the good work
THEY OVERBOOK TEE TIMES 2 HOUR DELAY
My tee time was 11:48 did not get out until 1:40. Manager said if we wanted to leave we could get a rain check but no refund. They were also sold out of water and Gatorade. Poorly managed establishment would not go back.
Complete 180
I played this course last year and it was in terrible condition the greens were in bad shape, fairways were burnt out, and the tee box’s pretty much had no grass. They put in a ton of work and the course is in phenomenal condition compared to last year. Great value for the course. Pace of play was a little slow but otherwise I would say everything else was great overall I would recommend and I will be playing here again.
Tamarack west
If I could I’d give it 4.5/5 stars. The only thing that wasn’t great was we got off 15 mins after our tee time. But once on the course the pace of play was great. The course was in very good shape and the layout is very nice. Challenging but fair and plays to all golfers. The practice facilities are great and due to covid I couldn’t see how they’re clubhouse is but I’m sure it’s nice. Overall a near perfect course and must play track.
Lots of improvements
I haven’t played Tamarack in at least 15 years but decided to take a shot based on recent reviews. They’ve definitely put some money into the course, and it shows. There are still some major dead spots on the fairways but the greens and traps are in tremendous shape. Pace of play was a little slow, that was always the biggest drawback, but overall in very good condition. Play now before word gets out!
Tamarack West
Coming from NY where the courses are still closed, I’ve played here twice thus far and find Tamarack West to be a great course. The staff is super friendly and attentive to your needs. The starter does a great job managing all the golfers coming through. The fairways and greens are in excellent shape and is a well designed course. Would definitely come back.
