Bad conditions
A lot of dead grass, very bad conditions. Also ongoing sprinklers in the middle of the fairway and lawn mowing. And this was during a 1pm tee time
Terrible course
This was my first time playing this course. The course was in terrible condition. Fairways were covered in dirt, tee boxes had tall grass, and greens were burnt. The bunkers were the only well kept part of this course. Course wanted to charge my friend an extra $32 for a single cart. Given the current pandemic, we were shocked. Thankfully our 4th walked. My friend’s cart ran out of gas on the 7th hole and staff needed to bring a new one out. Groundskeepers were cutting grass throughout the entire round and would stop and park where we were hitting our shots. Finally, the sprinkler system turned on while we were playing our last hole. It was 4 o’clock in the afternoon. Overall, terrible course. Avoid if possible.
Nice layout
Very wet in front of all greens staff very friendly a lot of spots on course are air rated
Good county course
Looks like management is certainly improving the course. Some of the greens need some work, but otherwise playable. The checking in process we as good, and the staff were friendly. I will certainly play there again, because the course is fair and really wide open.
Played on Friday July 17th, ridiculously hot. But the course was in great condition. Course is well maintained, fair but challenging. Greens are in great condition despite the extreme heat and the fairways rolled real nice. Highly recommendable course to play
Played a easy 4 hr round. No stress shot 80 with a putt here or there it might of been a little lower. The 2 girls in the beverage cart were great. Every one of the staff I encountered was very friendly. Will definitely play again.
Greens
We were never informed that the greens were being aerated before we booked this round. We would have never booked this course. The green were unplayable. At one point I went to putt the ball ended up hitting sand, stopping suddenly and just spun in its spot. I attached a photo of one of the greens which was one of the better greens but you can see for yourself it was impossible. I am looking for some kind of refund being every other course will inform you of aerated green or even lowering the price of greens are being aerated.
Long day on the course
The place was packed and so we ended up waiting 30 minutes past our tee time to tee off. The course was in average shape with a few wet spots and several dead spots, but for the price, it was better than expected. We were on the course for 5 hours because it was moving so slow.
Nice course but slow play
First time playing Tamarack. Nice course and good conditions. I am told new management has made significant improvements in the conditions. Nice open layout and the greens rolled well. Not a bad value for the money if you judge on the course alone. However, the place of play is ridiculous. We arrived for a 2:52 tee time and we were told that they were backed up over a half hour. The place looked like Six Flags Great Adventure. We finally tee’d off after 3:30 and proceeded to play a five hour round. We barely made it in before dark and groups were stacked up back to back to back behind us. This course is extremely overbooked. Management should take a trip down to Mercer Oaks (Mercer County) to see how a 36 hole County course should be run. Won’t be back for the simple fact that I don’t have over 6 hours available to spend at the golf course.
Back up on first tee
We had a 2;28 tee time. We were told 10 minutes for carts after checking in, Starter tells us 45 minutes. 50 minutes later a way we go. Played East course the West had longer backup.
Dog track, cow pasture fairways greens okay
Fairways were rock hard, no grass in spots. Apparently there isn’t sprinklers in the fairways so they get rock hard quickly and the grass dies. The greens were okay, of course there was a fair share of ball marks not repaired by golfers. At least I did see sprinklers around the greens. The pace of play is awful and another thing is they allow way too many people on, the pace of play was glacial. I wouldn’t play here again.
Future gem
I've played Tammarack for many years. It's a municipal 36 hole course. That in itself makes it unique. New golf professional management
has really made an impact. You can see tremendous work being done. Its look has changed . The greens have definitely gotten better. Not as good as Morris county courses, like Berkshire. However, the greens roll alot better. Fairways are much better also. Tee boxes are being worked on. I think within a year or two , Tammarack will really shine.
Weekend rounds still take about 5 hrs. They need to get a handle on that. Overall a "good" course and value.
