Great Value
Tamarack West was a great value and fun to play. Apparently the course was renovated recently and did not appear correctly in my Golfpad App that I use for yardages. Luckily my playing partners knew the place well and gave great recommendations and yardages. The course was in outstanding shape. I can’t wait to return to try the East course. My only complaint was that I got to the course early to warm up on the driving range only to find out that it was being mowed and I would not be able to get any tokens. Also, the only marked yardages on the fairways or at the 150 yard marker. None of the sprinkler heads have yardage markers and there are no 100 yard and 50 yard markers that you would typically find at other courses in the fairway.
First time since the new West course opened
I grew up playing Tamarack and was very disappointed to see its decline over the years. I had the opportunity to play the newly rebuilt west course, the old Red-White combo. Overall conditions were good - much better than before they closed it. They added some fairway sand traps to add difficulty and many of the greens were reconfigured. For a course that has been open for 3 weeks, though, it was not without disappointment. Burned out areas of fairways and greens. Tee boxes already with large patches of dirt. It was very easy to see where they stopped installing new turf and used the old, beat-up areas around greens and in the rough. There was also a lot of crabgrass. I can’t help but envision the way they completely lost the fairways on the east course when they re-opened that side a couple of years ago. Also, a 4:45 round was ridiculous. My advice? Play it now while it’s still in good condition. To me, Middlesex County has to prove that they know how to take care of a golf course before I go back on a regular basis.
Great course!
Beautiful layout
Beautiful condition
Can't wait to come back
The West is Open
The renovations have brought this course back to life. Enjoyed playing and will be back.
Winter Golf
I am extremely grateful to be playing in January in the Northeast. However, winter golf in the county as a resident should not cost more than $30.00. Furthermore, with all the tee boxes dug out and excavators on the course and dirt piles all over the place, some discounts should have been applies.
Jan 2nd
To be playing golf here in NJ on January 2nd is incredible. However, to pay the price for this course that is under construction in the winter is ridiculous. I know you are doing improvements to the course but with it under construction you should not be paying $50 for this track and the east course was over $70. I don't see how that can be the pricing at this time of the year.
Conditions could be better for the price
Fairways are chewed up and in rundown condition. Tee boxes appear not to have been tended to in a few days or weeks.Staff is friendly and helpful. Checking in and teeing off was seem less. However for the value, You may want to check out other places first.
This course has fallen off a cliff!!!
Course in terrible shape with the exception of a handful of greens. Pointless and very long frost delays. Clueless staff. No ranger to help with pace of play. This facility is a disaster!!!
What a dump
Middlesex County, you ought to be ashamed of yourselves for this cow pasture. This place used to be nice back in the late 90s!!! Bareback fairway, uneven rough, lousy tee boxes…only think that was acceptable were the greens. You guys are clowns!!
Horrible
We waited an hour and 15 to get a cart to play. They have two courses and were randomly giving out carts to either course who had the same time. Then the round lasted hours extra because of pace of play. Not worth the price, course wasn’t even that nice.
