Opened in 1929, Old Orchard Country Club has a classic design with challenges that stand up to modern golf courses. Throughout the course, you'll see traces of the site's former use as a farm. Ancient apple trees from the original orchard frame many of the holes. The diverse layout will test you with a variety of different shots but the gently rolling terrain makes for an easy walk. Skill and strategy will be generously rewarded but it's not an overly punishing layout for the high handicapper. Old Orchard's greens play true and fast and they are often flanked with strategically positioned bunkers. A stream wanders through the golf course, coming into play on several holes. Golfers will face a tricky island green on the par-5 seventh hole as well as an almost-island green on the par-4 13th.

Course is in terrible shape but still fun
Played from blue - course has good length/fun holes and layout, but is in terrible shape. Greens are worn down, fairways are all burnt, cart paths are dirt. Overall had fun - very laid back, pace was pretty good.

Remove the course from Golf Now, immediately
Unfortunately, I didn’t read the scores of negative reviews until after I spent $70 x 3 to play at this dog track. This course needs to be removed from Golf Now immediately so other fools don’t spend another nickel at this place.

Course condition was not good.
Sand traps in poor condition.
Sprinklers were on when playing.

Blame the owners
I don’t need to repeat all the negative reviews of this course while all very true no one has pointed out the real culprit here. The owners, yes the well known gas construction company in central NJ for those of you who don’t know, JF Kiely. The nephew of the owner, he should be called out and ashamed of himself to let a course of AW Tillinhast be in such shape. Everyone I speak to they all say the thing; this could be such a great course, what a great design and layout. But how sad it is that he has no respect or any love of the game and to disrespect AW Tillinhast name with the way this course has fallen from grace. You should be ashamed.

Worth
Course was alot of fun. Tee box grass was a little long but nothing crazy. Will definitely play again

this golf course should be shut down...........
golf course is a DUMP. golf cart had no BRAKES the local golfers call this course scourched earth in SPRING OK although very bad condition fairways are like high rough on most courses GREENS are burnt only dirt is there ALL GOLF CARTS ARE JUNK they should refund everyone who played here HALL OF FAME DESIGNER OF THIS COURSE SIR TILINGHAST IS SPINING IN HIS GRAVE...RIP ALL BEWARE IF SOMTHING IS NOT DONE THIS COURSE WILL BE CONDOS THIS AREA IS EXPENSIVE TO LIVE WHY IS THIS DUMP ALLOWED TO STAY IN BUSINESS IS BEYOND ME.........

9-13 Review (unplayable)
Really sad to see the course conditions. Back 9 was closed for airation, but why bother? Front 9 was either over grown or bare. Greens were un-puttable (literally)and the round was basically just going to the driving range.
Course was never in great shape but this was a joke and the course should really be closed at this point.

Very sad!
This could still be one of the nicer courses around, I've been playing here for more than forty years. I've gone to weddings in the restaurant, have had leagues here. I live in Eatontown and this used to be the first local course I would want to play. Now, Tillinghast must be turning over in his grave. The conditions yesterday were the worst ever. The course could still be salvaged if they would put some big cash into maintaining it. You can see that the current staff is in over their head. Still a great design, but when you can't putt because of all the dead grass, hit out of the sand because of all the live weeds or hit off a decent lie anywhere on the course, well they just can't expect us paying customers to be happy about it. I still hold out hope, but it is seriously like watching an old friend pass before your eyes. Very sad.

This course is strait up garbage, please avoid this dump at all cost, this was my first time playing here and it’s like hitting off sidewalk, this course doesn’t even know what Maintaince even means, for the price they are charging they are robbing customers, this is laughable and I’m hard pressed to even call this a golf course, should be booted off golf now and i wouldn’t send my worst enemy here, when asked the staff if this was ever maintained was rudely told off and told there had been a drought for 7 weeks and that all jersey public courses are like this and i had played 18 holes earlier that morning on lush greens, i asked about an irrigation system and was told only rain could improve this course, be prepared to Hit off weeds, rock hard dirt and cnt even call them greens, it’s pure dirt with patches of weeds, the ball will bounce upon contact, never rolls, i have never seen such a nonsense establishment in my life, disgrace to the of golf

Horrible
After golfing for 45 years, this is the worst conditions of any course I have been on.

Course is in shambles
I’ve played here before, about a year or two ago and this doesn’t even seem like the same place. The course is not maintained at all. The “fairways” were more like dead grass mixed with rough, and the greens.. well they weren’t even green. If there was 7 ft of green grass on the greens, that was a lot.
The staff was friendly though.

About as bad as any course out there.
Everything is destroyed. Greens are like a 70s shag carpet but with a lot of parts where the grass is dead so making a put is a miracle. Tee boxes aren’t mowed, and most sprinklers are spraying water but clearly Aren’t working. For 67$ it’s the worse value I’ve ever seen. I wouldn’t pay 20 bucks for this course. Don’t book here!
