Opened in 1929, Old Orchard Country Club has a classic design with challenges that stand up to modern golf courses. Throughout the course, you'll see traces of the site's former use as a farm. Ancient apple trees from the original orchard frame many of the holes. The diverse layout will test you with a variety of different shots but the gently rolling terrain makes for an easy walk. Skill and strategy will be generously rewarded but it's not an overly punishing layout for the high handicapper. Old Orchard's greens play true and fast and they are often flanked with strategically positioned bunkers. A stream wanders through the golf course, coming into play on several holes. Golfers will face a tricky island green on the par-5 seventh hole as well as an almost-island green on the par-4 13th.

Needs serious TLC
Down trees in the fairways, tee boxes not mowed, zero sand in the bunkers and greens that are riddled with brown patches. I've played here almost a dozen times and this is by far the worst it's ever been. Really is a shame. $70 with the cart is too expensive for the condition this course is in right now. skip it and play someplace else.

Worst maintained course I have every played
This was my second time playing here. The first time was in May of 2020 with a few people that I work with while we were furloughed. It was actually super nice at that time. Thats why this was so disappointing. First of all the amount of money they charge for a course with zero greens keeping is on the level of theft (literally). The fairways were so long my partner and I probably lost 10 balls in the fairway. I made it a point to ask other people playing what they thought of the course and everyone was in agreement that it was unacceptable. Thats why every review as of late is a 1 start review. Does the owner of the course want to go out of business? Maybe?
Course lacks proper maintenance.
It has been at least a dozen years since last there. Clearly management does not spend enough on maintenance. Clover in bloom on fairways, sand traps seem untended, grass on greens left long and putts often bounced. Greens were recently cut, but trails of cut grass often left on greens.
Conditions not anything like I remember. Will not return until I hear things have changed.

They need to cut the grass in the fairways when you lose a ball in the fairway it’s not good

Last Time
The place is falling apart. Our cart didn’t have a working parking brake. The course was in absolutely horrible condition. And somehow, they feel that it’s okay to charge $55 a round. Maybe those expensive green fees should be put towards some maintenance.

The price isn’t bad and lot of potential with layout of course but the maintenance is why i rated one star. I lost my golf ball on the fairway and the traps have a lot of grass in them. The greens aren’t cut often and the tee boxes are in rough shape. I would rather pay more for a round if you spent the money on maintaining the course. There is also no rangers keeping tabs on slow play and i haven’t seen the food stand near 5 or 6 open in a long time.

Hit your ball in the fairway???? Good luck finding it. This is by far the worst golf course in the United States. They should pay you to play here. Absolutely a disgrace to golf! I actually spun the ball out of a bunker. And broke a tee trying to stick in the ground!

That’s it
Until I see a change in reviews or price I will not be coming back to this course. $60 for 18 is outrageous here. Tee boxes are horrible. Greens were not maintained. Pretty sure management is letting the course go and will just sell to a developer. Save yourself the time and money and skip this place.
Horrible Father’s Day experience
Set a tee time for 4 a week in advance for Father’s Day. Two friends and a son show up to be told that they have no power carts left. I spoke to them a half hour before arriving and no one mentioned that they were running low. They also had a total of 4 pull carts for use. Ended up leaving bc the staff was unfriendly and actually angry at the patrons for being upset that multiple groups of tee times were ruined. People were leaving as fast as they were showing up. Will never recommend and will never go back.

Awful condition
Tee boxes a mess if you could even find them.
Lost balls in fairway it was so high.
Greens badly need of cutting as well.

Garbage course for $70
I think maintenance quit because this course is trash greens are longer than fairways. Fairways are longer than the rough. I don’t get how you can charge $70 for this garbage course. I left there feeling like they owed me…. Save yourself the 70 and play any other course in NJ

Dumpster Fire!!
The owners have completely given up. The course could be awesome, the layout is great, but they don’t own a weedwhacker and have more grass in the bunkers than in the tee box. Guy in the pro shop is a joker; hates people and being around them. Complete mess and a rip off, should be 5 bucks a round plus a cart.

Dog track
Calling this place a dog track is an insult to dog tracks. When the starter, who was very nice, warns you about the course conditions, particularly extreme lack of mowing efforts, and suggest you keep a close eye on each others’ ball even if you hit it in the fairway, you know from the start you are in the wrong place. I’m not a golf snob by any means as I played rough courses all the time back in Ohio but this is much worse than those. After I lost my 5th ball in 7 holes, not to water or any hazard, i had enough. I lost 4 as they ran just off the fairway and 1 of them after hitting down the fairway…I am not exaggerating. Understanding the clubhouse worker could not not do anything for me except point me to reading the “conveniently placed sign about no refunds, I left and called the GM a couple hours later. When I called, the clubhouse worker who I spoke to as I left, gave the hesitant pause when I asked to speak with the GM. We all know what that is, “screen my calls as I don’t want to deal with anything.” Needless to say, I did not get a return call. I’m not writing this to get any type of refund but to warn all golfers, and dogs, not to play here.
