Opened in 1929, Old Orchard Country Club has a classic design with challenges that stand up to modern golf courses. Throughout the course, you'll see traces of the site's former use as a farm. Ancient apple trees from the original orchard frame many of the holes. The diverse layout will test you with a variety of different shots but the gently rolling terrain makes for an easy walk. Skill and strategy will be generously rewarded but it's not an overly punishing layout for the high handicapper. Old Orchard's greens play true and fast and they are often flanked with strategically positioned bunkers. A stream wanders through the golf course, coming into play on several holes. Golfers will face a tricky island green on the par-5 seventh hole as well as an almost-island green on the par-4 13th.

Worse course ever played on
I normally don’t give a bad review but this doesn’t deserve anything but a bad review. $60 per person was too much-I wouldn’t pay $10. This course has so much potential-please put money back into it and makes it worth the money to play. So disappointed.

Greens or Browns?
I don’t like leaving a negative review, but hopefully it gets to management. I’ve played this course 3 times now. The first time was about a year ago. There weren’t many issues i could recall.
The second time i played here was early spring of 2022. I played on a Wednesday after work. The “fairway” was more like a rough. I drove several balls off the tee directly into the fairway and couldn’t find them because the grass was so long. Ever since then, this course has been falling off.
I most recently played this past Sunday. Several more issues to note. Again, fairways were not well maintained and the grass is entirely too long (although i found all of my balls this time). The second issue and probably the most frustrating is that the greens are consistently too long! I’ve seen fairways mowed shorter than these greens. It’s like putting on Velcro. It completely ruins the experience. There were several holes where the greens were only 50% grass and 50% dirt. Several greens had long crabgrass growing in random areas. They’re in horrible shape. I’m not a super particular golfer so i can manage with a slightly undermaintained fairway, but the shape that these greens were in is inexcusable. None of the bunkers are raked so if you’re hitting out of them, you’ll likely be hitting out of someone’s footprint. I saw a gopher living in a hole it dug in one of the bunkers.
This course is absolutely not worth a $70 round on weekends. I would be upset if i paid $40 to play in these conditions. The only positive comment i can give is that the rate of play is generally pretty good, probably because there aren’t many people that want to play here. This course is in desperate need of a new maintenance crew. I will not be going back.

Old Orchard
Course is a shell of its former self. Needs a rescue by a new owner with the wherewithal to spend the necessary money to provide the TLC that is so desperately missing .

Worst Course Ever Played
Stopped playing here years ago because of the deteriorating course conditions. We decided to try it again, and it was worse. Pulled into the parking lot at 10:15 and there were seven cars in it. That was a clue. Burned out weed-infested fairways, green mowed too high to prevent them from burning out, crab grass part of the landscaping plan, ground so hard that it was a struggle to insert a tee (and clubs would just bounce off the fairways). Gave it a five star rating for pace of play because there was no one else on the course.
Just do the golfing world a favor and sell the course to developers for housing.

It’s finally done…
This course was one of the first few courses I really fell in love with the game. It’s a sad day today writing this. But, here it goes… This course has been struggling to stay alive, over the past 3 years it’s gone from a fun little dumpy muni to a literal dried out boneyard of a dog track. The staff or budget or lack of love for this course has finally killed it. This again is very sad to say. But. Goodbye Old Orchard A.W. Tillinghast (1929)

DON'T BOOK THIS... Trust me
Wow... Just... Wow. Not to be repetitive from other reviews... But DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. $70 is criminal. It's absolutely unfit for play. Greens are cut to what a respectable fairway length. That's assuming there's actual grass on the portion I'm describing. It's either velcro or a patch of mud. Awful. The fairways are dead or full of crab grass. There's no diliniation between fairway or rough. There's no 1st cut, 2nd cut. There's no collars. It's not a golf course.... It's an unmaintained field with 18 flags. I'm shocked that they are open for business. They certainly should not be. Just wow.

Terrible
Flags weren’t even in the hole and the tee boxes were horrible. Couldn’t tell where the rough was versus the fairway. Horrible experience. Greens not cut either.

Save your money!
This is a sad example of a corporation that just doesn’t care about the customer. They have a lot of guts charging $70 to play this course and when management was asked all they could say is well Suneagles charges 100+. There is no difference between the tee box, fairway, or rough. All crab grass! The greens are long and look like they havent been rolled all season. The sand traps look like they haven’t been groomed since covid started. Beer bottles left on the course from the previous day. This place is a nightmare. If your desperate for a place to play, the driving range is more enjoyable!

Used to be great
Every fairway was basically the rough. 3/4 of the greens burnt to a crisp. Putting over burnt to not to burnt. Tee boxes are 1-2 high in weeds.

Shame what was once a decent track
Just horrendous condition. There was literally nothing but weeds on the tee box. Fairway had more weeds. Green were slowest that ever experienced. Just horrendous.
