Opened in 1929, Old Orchard Country Club has a classic design with challenges that stand up to modern golf courses. Throughout the course, you'll see traces of the site's former use as a farm. Ancient apple trees from the original orchard frame many of the holes. The diverse layout will test you with a variety of different shots but the gently rolling terrain makes for an easy walk. Skill and strategy will be generously rewarded but it's not an overly punishing layout for the high handicapper. Old Orchard's greens play true and fast and they are often flanked with strategically positioned bunkers. A stream wanders through the golf course, coming into play on several holes. Golfers will face a tricky island green on the par-5 seventh hole as well as an almost-island green on the par-4 13th.

Worst course around
Course is in such horrible condition. You loose your ball in the fairway and spend more time looking for balls then actually playing cause the grass is so long. Place really sucks bad.
Awful
Worst course I've ever played at. The course didn't look like it has been mowed in weeks. You couldn't find your ball on the fairway. The entire course needs some major TLC. It could be one of the best courses in the area with upkeep but they have just given up.
Oh, the computer wasn't working so they took my credit card on a piece of paper. I may need to cancel that card so I don't get any unexpected payments.

Better than hitting the range…
I love the layout of this course, the staff are super friendly, and the pace of play is average. I think this course can seriously improve the grounds, fairway is just slightly shorter/ less weeded grass and greens are terribly slow

Worse than usual
This course has so much potential. The day we played the grass was so high sometimes it was hard to find your ball in the fairway. The greens were very very slow. The sand traps were concrete.

Just dont
Weeds and overgrown tee boxes, couldn’t distinguish between fairway and rough on most holes. Rough was mostly clover and weeds and couldn’t find your ball in play bc of how poorly maintained the rough was. Greens were lumpy shag carpet. Bunkers were packed in. The only reason I gave average to pace of play bc we were first to tee off and had only a twosome. I played it once and that was one too many. Especially for the price.
Coming Back!
I haven't played this course in over 25 years - having PTSD from suffering through flocks of geese and chewed up tee boxes and greens. But I was pleasantly surprised. This layout is really appealing to the eye! If taken care of The OOC has so much potential! After all it's a Tillinghast course! My only hope is that the current owners continue to give it the proper TLC that it deserves and improvements are evident with each future visit. (Please put sand in the bunkers!!) I went with my best friends and had a wonderful day! We definitely will consider coming back here in the future.

Carts don’t work
Had our golf cart die mid round, they came out abs gave us a new cart and that one also died. We couldn’t even finish our round and the employee said they can’t get new carts because of covid … so they just keep sending people out in the broken carts. nice.

Nice round
We knew the greens were aerated and were pretty bad but that being said the course was nice. Staff were very friendly and attentive!!

Great layout, place is stuck in the 80’s
Overall the course is a great layout. Fun to play but the conditions are horrendous. I usually never write these reviews but yesterdays round was brutal. The pace of play was fine, the 2 employees that we met were friendly. But other than that the place is stuck in the 80’s. The bunkers were concrete, the fairways and rough were exactly the same and the greens were rock solid. I couldn’t even put a tee in the tee box the ground was so hard. We ended up walking which was $37.00 a head, with a cart was $63.00. Do yourself a favor, don’t play here.

I’m normally not good in the sand to begin with but my one shot on hole 3 I nearly broke my wrist swinging into it. So the other 2 times in my round I ended up in the sand I told my friends I’m taking a practice swing into the sand just to see if it was going to happen again
Not a top pick
I’ve played here once before in winter (25 degree day) and expected the conditions. They haven’t changed even with all the warm weather. The greens were awful, tee boxes close to being as bad as the greens. If you find any other course that’s in the $60 range, this should not be a top pick. The staff was great though as the drove out another cart when one of ours died on the second hole. So basically the staff friendliness and pace of play is floating the 3 stars for overall in my opinion.

Save your money and go elsewhere
2nd time playing this course. It hasn't changed since last summer. Whoever owns this place is just laughing at you when you play here. They are talking every dollar of your round and simply stuffing into their bank account. They are spending not 1 penny on course upkeep. The bunkers are horrible. It's hard to tell where the fairways end and the rough starts. Add 3 strokes per 9 due to the horrible greens which are patchy and moldy; good luck hitting a putt! The bridges you have to drive/walk over, it would not shock me if you read that someone falls into gross water crossing over one. The staff is nice. The course has a nice layout with some challenging holes. This place could be nice but they are just putting Z-E-R-O money into any course maintenance. Cut the fairways. Treat and roll the greens. Rake the traps. If the owners don't care about it, sell it to someone who does or blow it up already and make condos. Bottom line, save your money and golf elsewhere!
