Opened in 1929, Old Orchard Country Club has a classic design with challenges that stand up to modern golf courses. Throughout the course, you'll see traces of the site's former use as a farm. Ancient apple trees from the original orchard frame many of the holes. The diverse layout will test you with a variety of different shots but the gently rolling terrain makes for an easy walk. Skill and strategy will be generously rewarded but it's not an overly punishing layout for the high handicapper. Old Orchard's greens play true and fast and they are often flanked with strategically positioned bunkers. A stream wanders through the golf course, coming into play on several holes. Golfers will face a tricky island green on the par-5 seventh hole as well as an almost-island green on the par-4 13th.

I want to cry
First I will say that this course is a Tillinghast design. Google the Tillinghast courses in NJ alone. The greats of golf have played here. Sir Walter Hagen for one. If this course was ever brought back to spec and lengthened a bit, it would be a true gem. Shameful what it is right now. Almost no maintenance or conditioning is being done due to it supposedly going the way of Townhomes. I wish someone with some affluence and love of the game and it’s History would buy this property and do the right thing with it. The layout of many of the holes is spectacular. The current owner is just waiting for his payday. DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE IN IT’S PRESENT STATE, YOU WILL REGRET IT..
The price to play this course is very reasonable, it could be in better shape but overall it's a good value.

It’s a big course with beautiful land but everything could use a little more love like paths and tee boxes(no ball cleaners or rags) carts are a bit old and slow. That being said I will be back I enjoy the course.

Worst carts ever
Workers all very friendly and the man at the turn was super nice. Regardless of course conditions which were average, knowingly giving out carts that do not work and fail every 4-5 holes and needing to be brought out a new one is simply unacceptable and they wouldn’t offer a refund either despite knowing this. Their carts are a joke and even more ridiculous was the cost of them!

Sad states of affairs
This course could be beautiful but it’s in beyond poor condition. Sand traps have weed growing in them, no distinction between tee boxes, fairway, rough. It’s like playing on a soccer field that has greens that have speed bumps like you’re approaching a toll booth on the parkway.
The green fees were cheap but honestly not worth time or money even on an incredibly low hot deal.

time for you to sell
course was in terrible condition, how many bad reviews do you need to figure out that you can't properly manage this facility? this is a classic old golf course that deserves proper maintenance. if your'e going to continue to run this course into the ground, then it is time for you to sell it & move on. your'e obviously in over your head. i've played there for many years & can't believe what's happened to this place!!!!!

The course was in very bad condition the grass was very high in the fairway, greens in bad shape, golf cart died by the 5 th hole had to be exchanged. The 13 or the 14 hole was closed and no one told us. It’s a shame this was a very nice course I played there for many years
I don't get it....
I read all the negative reviews about the condition of the course. Except for the aerated greens, the course was in fine shape. Even booked again for this Sunday!

poor conditions, fun round
the good; I shot a personal best 76 and there was no one else on the course.
the bad; guess there's a reason there was no one else on the course.
it's actually a fun layout, and any course I can play without waiting on shots is worth it for me.
but the fairway is barely different than the rough and the greens are very sandy and more brown than green. If you're close and it's $30 go for it as long as you know what you're getting lol but $50+ with a cart would be a little silly.

Greens were just aerated and uneven
Course was not crowded and had good pace of play. Greens were aerated but not fully top dressed, leaving them bumpy and uneven. Course would be a good value when greens are finished
