Opened in 1929, Old Orchard Country Club has a classic design with challenges that stand up to modern golf courses. Throughout the course, you'll see traces of the site's former use as a farm. Ancient apple trees from the original orchard frame many of the holes. The diverse layout will test you with a variety of different shots but the gently rolling terrain makes for an easy walk. Skill and strategy will be generously rewarded but it's not an overly punishing layout for the high handicapper. Old Orchard's greens play true and fast and they are often flanked with strategically positioned bunkers. A stream wanders through the golf course, coming into play on several holes. Golfers will face a tricky island green on the par-5 seventh hole as well as an almost-island green on the par-4 13th.

NEVER AGAIN!
This course has obviously been let go for so long that it hardly resembles a golf course. Tee boxes are mostly grass less. Unmown Fairways of crabgrass. Most of the rough areas around the greens couldn’t have been mown in months. Greens were in major disrepair. I could never recommend this course in its current state. No starter. No visible employees anywhere other than the 2 uncaring young men in the pro shop. They seemed completely uninterested in being there. I’m sure Tillinghast would be ashamed.
Once Beautiful Golf Course in Dire Need of Repair
Old Orchard Country Club has fallen far from the beautiful course I remember 20 years ago. With an inability to distinguish the fairway from the rough, with greens looking more like browns and in desperate need of mowing, with golf equipment parked on the 10th green for hours, recommend spending your money elsewhere. The greens fees were pretty steep and the value would be poor even if fees were cut in half.

Overpriced and very poorly maintained
Leta start.with a grass cutting machine was left on the green all day...yes all day
Greens all are bare...fairways are crabgasss
Embaraasing to xharge 65 dollars for this
The parking lot has broken lights and overgrown grass...that should have been my first ckue

Dog Track!
I’d put this course up against any place in the country for the absolute worst conditions imaginable . Brown greens, 3 inch high crab grass for fairways and knee high weeds for rough. $70. I wouldn’t be paid $70 to ever step foot on this dump ever again. 100% not playable in any fashion. Save your money and do not come here.

Must not have the money
Its a shame watching a golf coarse slowly destroy its self I can only think that there is no money here to try and save it

Poor condition
Had an Absolute blast playing the course,. The layout is gorgeous but the money is too much for the condition of the course. Some of the greens are Just dead grass. Would only play this course again if it was on a hot deal and wouldn’t spend more than $40 to play with the cart. The one thing I will say is the pace of play was great because I had no one in front of me and no one by me.

Terrible conditions for a high price
This course could be great if maintained, however that is not the case. The rough is way over grown, half the greens are missing grass and one even is all sand. For 70$ this place should be mint. You can pay way less in the area for a much better course.

Bad Shape
I absolutely love this course but the condition it is in right now is deplorable. The rough was ankle high, the greens looked like the pictures of the surface of Mars, some fairways were well maintained while others were nothing but crabgrass. The grounds crew really needs to put some effort into this course. This place could be something special with a little effort.

Horrible course conditions
The condition of the course was terrible. Mainly the greens.
The greens were completely destroyed. Missing grass on many greens. Hole 12 was completely covered in sand and no grass. It looked like the flag was in a bunker.
The price of this course should be no more than $30-$35.
The problem is this course charges a $70 fee, but the course conditions are nowhere near the par of a course with similar rates.
If they are doing work on the course, then they should charge discounted rates, instead of continuing to charge full price for play, without even warning guests the conditions of the course.
Good value
Midweek afternoon finished 18 in 3 + hrs. Sand Traps very well kept. Greens are ok? Alot of brown patch. Greenskeeper was verticutting them to recondition. Open Fairways but alot of crabgrass. Carts very comfortable . Price was good. Watch that water culvert that runs through middle of course,

Could be much better if there was ANY care given to the course
As prior mentioned, the carts and maybe the grill on hole 5 are about the best things on the course.
The greens have fungus or something on them that causes almost all to be very patchy. Tee boxes are filled with crabrgrass. Hard to tell where the fairway ends and the rough starts. The greens were not short at all. The pace of play was good as there was no one in front or behind us but I feel that is simply because the golfers in the area know the conditions here and stay away. The one hole is kind of neat with a "island" green but the water around was nasty and filled with thick growths of algae.
This course could be a nice little gem if only the owners dumped some money into it. Drop the mowers down to make a fairway. Roll the greens. The clubhouse and sitting areas could be fantastic if improved upon. I could see this place being a hit with a updated bar/restaurant added.
I'm guessing within 5 years, mgmt. will sell out to make condos.

What a Shame.
Used to love this course. I lived nearby and played it a lot. It was always subject to developers dreams, so not ever in great shape, but better than it is now by a long shot. The bunkers aren't maintained, the tee boxes are messy, the greens are atrocious and the fairways are a mixed bag. The "practice green" was ridiculous; sparse but shaggy, could barely putt on it. This Tillinghast course has great bones and needs a large infusion of $$$.

Poor conditions. Overpriced.
$70 per player including a cart. The bunkers were lumpy, not groomed, and had weeds growing in them. The greens were chewed up with some on the back looking like swiss cheese. Tee boxes were overgrown. Ladies tee markers missing on numerous occasions.
There are a ton of tee times available because if you go once you will learn your lesson and not go back.
Save your money and time with this course.
