Old Orchard Country Club
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2025.
Opened in 1929, Old Orchard Country Club has a classic design with challenges that stand up to modern golf courses. Throughout the course, you'll see traces of the site's former use as a farm. Ancient apple trees from the original orchard frame many of the holes. The diverse layout will test you with a variety of different shots but the gently rolling terrain makes for an easy walk. Skill and strategy will be generously rewarded but it's not an overly punishing layout for the high handicapper. Old Orchard's greens play true and fast and they are often flanked with strategically positioned bunkers. A stream wanders through the golf course, coming into play on several holes. Golfers will face a tricky island green on the par-5 seventh hole as well as an almost-island green on the par-4 13th.

Terrible conditions
Great layout, great staff. Terrible terrible condition, it’s shameful
A complete joke
They have completely let this course go. The fairways are like Rough and the greens are absolutely awful.
We played six holes and were forced off course because of a lighting store and we were refused a rain check
"Old "Orchard
the name is correct "Old"
Fairways need to be mowed
Greens were in bad shape
Not very good for the $$
Watering greens on a prime day and full price?
Arrived at the course and seemed like a very nice layout with nice views. However, as I got into a cart, it did not seem to be fully cleaned and the brakes did not work properly. Not the greatest start to a course that charges 70 dollars on a Sunday at 8:45 AM. This wasn’t really what bothered me the most and I was able to look past it. What drove me to be very disappointed by a full price prime day of the week of golf were the course conditions. Every Tee box was chewed and grass was absent from most of them. In addition, 9 out of 18 holes were absolutely soaked with water at 9 AM with a full course of people playing. Watering systems turned on with a full course of people are out on a prime day? This was the best time to be doing this? The pins and holes had the foam out and were full of water to the brim of the holes. Literally unputtable on 6 of the 9 soaked holes. Walking the green, you could feel the saturation with every step. To top it off, the sprinklers, hoses, and Other course equipment could be found all over every bunker and green side area, not to mention most bunkers were either concrete or fully weed filled. My group paid 70 dollars each to play and putt 9 true holes? I’ve never seen such a disregard for golf patrons on a Sunday morning. When charging that price, a course needs to take into account the conditions. Nice layout, but a shame they treated their course or the patrons this way, when people want to get outside to enjoy a round after not being able to for so long with everything going on. Would never return with this price or the conditions. If conditions at this course improve, I would.
Poor Course - has Potential, just badly maintained
This course could be a beautiful course, however it is poorly maintained. There were large clumps of dried up dead grass clippings on the fairway, roughs were very long, and pooling of water/soppy grounds everywhere. Even plenty of grass clippings left on the green that had to be swept away just to put. I understand that it was hot and had to keep the grass "maintained" just seems like a bad drainage issue. Cart paths are bumpy and riddled with potholes, and plenty of divots to go around. Dead tree branches that have fallen or have been cut off were just sitting right in the rough. Bunkers were more dirt and weeds than actual sand. The cups were filled with water, some had pool noodles to prevent extra touching while others were missing all together.
This course has gone downhill
I played here for the first time in about 5 years. It has always been a decent course and fairly well maintained... that is no longer the case! Bunkers are not maintained, some are extremely overgrown with weeds (to the point that my group allowed relief from them). Crab grass, dead grass and fairways that played like 2nd cuts. Additionally, my group (which was a buddy and I and another twosome we were paired with) was accused by the starter of trying to play the back 9 again for free. This was simply not the case, as we tee’d off at 9:30 and hit the 10th hole just after 11:15 (obviously this is not physically possible) and the starter after some questioning admitted he was wrong and reluctantly apologized.
Overall, terrible course in general and poor experience. Will not consider playing here again.
Nice
The first time playing this course, our playing partner gave us tips on some holes since he played the day before. Enjoyed ourselves it was a 4 hr round. will go back.
Old Orchard
Although the course has a pretty nice layout , The condition of the course was really bad. Most of the fairways were full of weeds and dead spots . The greens were patchy and looked like there are some insect problems . Even the fringe around the greens was full of weeds . I had played there once a few years ago and don’t remember it being like this. Hopefully they get it back into nice shape or I think people will stop playing there
Great layout however
I have played here for years. I was very disappointed in the condition of the course. Crab grass everywhere tee boxes, greens. The greens were over water to the point of pooling water and unable to putt. The rough next to the fringe on the greens had to be 4 to 5 inches long and probably has not bee cut in weeks. It is definately not worth the money and after playing here 10 years when we vacation at the shore, this course is going to be removed from our list to play. Hopefully somebody buys it and gives it the attention need to make it a nice place to play.
Great lay out!
Course has a great layout.
Old style course feel.
Some short par 5s with a few long par 4s to keep you honest.
Needs some TLC but who doesn't.
This course is a disgrace
For being the middle of July in peak golfing season, this course was absolutely disgraceful. The only difference between the fairways and the rough was the color. More sand bunkers than not had crab grass growing and some were 90% overgrown. Greens were in decent shape, with exception of a few that had holes in them and dirt spots from lack of grass. If the course cost 40 dollars, then I would understand., but 70, they need to get their course straightened out.
GolfNow Payment
This is the 4th time I tried to use my golfnow gift card and the people at the front desk are clueless on how to process the money. It is a hassle every time and this course was no different.
Lady at front desk had zero clue how to process the gift card. GoldNOw needs to teach its courses how to accept gift cards.
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
This course has gone to pot in basket. The conditions are the worst I've ever seen. The fairways are like the rush and the greens are awful. We were forced off the course because of a thunder and lightning storm, we only played six holes and were refused a rain check. This has to speak volumes about this place
