Opened in 1929, Old Orchard Country Club has a classic design with challenges that stand up to modern golf courses. Throughout the course, you'll see traces of the site's former use as a farm. Ancient apple trees from the original orchard frame many of the holes. The diverse layout will test you with a variety of different shots but the gently rolling terrain makes for an easy walk. Skill and strategy will be generously rewarded but it's not an overly punishing layout for the high handicapper. Old Orchard's greens play true and fast and they are often flanked with strategically positioned bunkers. A stream wanders through the golf course, coming into play on several holes. Golfers will face a tricky island green on the par-5 seventh hole as well as an almost-island green on the par-4 13th.

It's good to practice.

It's not a good place to play games, but it's the best golf course to practice alone. The staff is nice and nice. But the facilities are bad. Men's bathrooms are often locked. So I had to use women's bathrooms. Women don't even come here anyway.

Horrible

-Golf carts old and falling apart. My cart ran out of power on the first tee. Second cart barely worked. Course was like playing in a cow pasture (I'm from the south). Crab grass and weeds in the fairways. Sand bunkers ful of weeds. "Horrible maintenance. The greens are all beat up. Half of every green was ripped up so bad it was black turf underneath showing. Lights don't work in the bathrooms, stalls are broken and disgusting. The porta potty was cleaner then the bathroom. If this course had proper management it would be incredible. It's wide open fairways are great to drive. For $60 this course is way to much. It should be a max $30 course because of how poorly it is maintained", 9-1-2024 reviewer.

Horrendous

Golf carts falling apart, literally watched the top fall off of one. Tires are not aligned.

Golf course is like playing in a school yard park. Crab grass and weeds in the fairways. Sand bunkers had more weeds and dirt in them then sand. Horrible maintenance.

The greens are all beat up. Half of every green was ripped up so bad it was black turf underneath showing.

Lights don't work in the bathrooms, stalls are broken and disgusting. The porta potty was cleaner then the bathroom.

For $60 this course is way to much. It should be a max $30 course because of how poorly it is maintained.

If you're looking to just go have a fun group of people who don't care about playing then sure this is fine for you. But known you will not score well

The Worst Golf Course I've Ever Played!

The tee boxes were horrible, some had no grass just dirt, others had overgrown grass and weeds, and the blue tees were missing or not even marked. The greens were not puttable and unplayable due to overgrown grass and big chunks of grass missing, when you putted the ball would bounce, go in a totally different directions, or not even get close to the hole to to poor conditions, impossible to putt. The fairway grass was so long that it was difficult to find your ball, even on drives or irons that were in the fairways. The bunkers were just sad, not raked and the "sand" was like hitting off concrete. I have never played at such a disgrace of a golf course. If it cost me $1.00 to play golf at Old Orchard, it wouldn't be worth it. Such a disgraceful golf course. There should be a "warning" message to all golfers that are considering playing at Old Orchard, something like "All golfers beware, this golf course is not maintained and is in terrible condition!".

Course conditions

Unfortunately, the conditions of the golf course at old Orchard are very very, very poor from the Teebox to the fairway to the greens. It looks like it hasn’t been taken care of once. This was a very beautiful course, but it seems like there’s no one taking care of it now .

Burnt greens with deep holes. Grass trimmings rema

This course is definitely towards the end of my list of Monmouth County New Jersey courses. The greens were burnt and had gaping holes in those burned areas which made putting near impossible. The grass trimmings from the cut grass remained on the course I hit the fairway and still lost my ball on multiple holes because of the shavings from the grass hiding the ball, other golfers complained about the same

Unkept course

Played this course with some buddies due to its proximity to my buddy’s work. Everything about the course conditions were bad. The greens were atrocious and you could lose your ball in the fairways. Definitely do not recommend

Spend Your Money Elsewhere

This was my first time playing Old Orchard and to say I was underwhelmed is an understatement. The course conditions were the worst I have ever played. The greens were overgrown yet patchy with dirt and had full chunks missing (as if people had taken full iron swings off the surface). The tee boxes were horrifically overgrown. It was impossible to tell the difference between the "fairway" and the deep rough as the grass was not maintained at all. If anyone is considering playing here, rethink your choice. I am normally not one to leave bad reviews, but I felt the need to warn other golfers to save your money. The value for money is a total ripoff ($67 including a cart).

Caddyshack meets Nightmare on Elm st

Definitely the worst course on the East coast, never mind NJ. Sure got to play 18 in less than 4 hours at 7:30 am, but a nightmarish course for way too much money. It was like getting robbed at every hole. My cart worked fine , but that probably was the only fine working one. They should definitely make a comedy out of this place. There was enough wildlife to charge zoo fees too.

Sad shape

It is really a shame to see how badly this course has been maintained. The fairways are mostly crab grass, the greens are a combination of grass and hard packed dirt. The layout of this course is very nice and could be a premium golf course it were taken care of properly. I'm not sure if it has changed hands recently but in any event they are in desperate need of a GC superintendent who knows what they are doing

Why? Just why?

Why is this course still open. I hadn't played the course in 25 years. Came to town and last minute needed a place to play with family. The place appeared abandoned. The greens are unputtable. Weeds, dead from mold or just crazy long. The spots that were flat and "smooth" were rolling at a 4. Fairways were a mix of mixed weeds, no grass or grass that was 8 inches long. Bunkers that weren't grown over were packed sand. I could go on but why is this place still open and charging any money.
