Golfer Reviews
Fun course
We teed off at 8:15 on Labor day The pace play was perfect. Greens were in great shape. My only complaint was the construction work on hole 8 and that the fairway was recently aerated. I recommend this course for average golfers looking for a well maintained challenging course.
Nice place to play
This course was really nice. It had its easier holes and its tougher holes. Greens were really nice except for more than a few pin placements. I think the greenskeeper was mad at someone, he put the pins in positions that made the greens feel like miniature golf holes. Placing the pin on the top tier or the bottom is expected, but right at the crest of huge slopes makes it absurdly difficult. Still I enjoyed the course, I didn't like having to pay the daily park entry fee of 10 dollars because I used GOLFNOW's Hot deal rate. I think if you book a reg. Tee time on GOLFNOW, you would pay the entry rate of 10 dollars and they reimburse you 8 dollars. Kind of defeats the value of the Hot Deal!
Great Condition
Indian Springs is in great condition. The greens are well watered and cut short for good speed. The fairways are green and a little wider than last year. The rough is fair, and the tall grass areas are healthy and need to be avoided. The course is rolling and is beautiful to play. The bunkers are fairly well maintained. Wild turkeys greeted us on the first hole.
Indian Springs on 8/7
Love metro-park golf courses, well maintained. Pace of play was biggest problem, but I felt it was 'normal' for a Sunday afternoon.
Not happy.
When you enter the park they charge you $10 then tell you to tell give the pro shop our parking pass and they will give us $8 back. Well that's not true if you book through golf now on a hot deal. So with this "hot deal you save actually only save $2.00 oh and when you talk to the pro shop guy about it he laughs in your face. Will not be back.
Great place for a friendly round of golf
This course provides a good value to the average golfer. It's not full of extremely challenging shots, although there are some narrow windows for your tee shot on a few holes. The greens were consistent, but played a little slow. Like a lot of public courses there are a lot of ball marks on the greens that people don't fix (I probably repaired 50 of them yesterday). Overall, though, a really fun round at a good pace for the weekend.
Nice day of golf
Everything went well and had a nice day.
Only comment on the course would be to add new tee boxes for the gold tees.
Having them with the red tees is to short and the white tees are to long.
Very average golf course
Not great, but not bad, a decent golf course for a decent price.
Metro park charge
Course was nice. Metro park golf. Open not too much visual framing or water 10 to 30 $ pass to enter park made whole experience negative
Disappointing
Was looking forward to playing after reading previous reviews ... Tee time 2:50 was backed up at first tee ... No one at 10th!
A 4some before us .. A group of 5 before them... Ridiculous slow ... Even to the point as group ahead of us waited until the 5 some was onto next tee before hitting even tho the 4 some rarely made it past red tee box! If that wasn't frustrating enough ... Balls were landing on tee boxes from all directions... As we were approaching the green a golfer hit behind us and landed a foot in front of us.... Would not recommend or go back... Really disappointed... Course wasn't that nice either... No comparison to Stony Creek, another Metropark
Always enjoy the Metro Park courses.
One of the better Metro Park courses. The greens were in excellent condition. Even though the Slope may indicate a "moderate" course, don't be fooled. There are some tough and long par 4's....#'s 3, 11 and 18 come to mind . Hole #12, a par 3, is nice but "death" if you are right or left. I played on a Friday at noon and finished 18 in 3 Hrs. Staff was/is extremely friendly. Got a sandwich at the turn...they do not skimp on the meat and the prices are very reasonable. Always enjoy the ever present wildlife. Will always come back here. Great value for money. I see that too many people complain about the park entry fee. Do something nice and feel good about yourself....buy a yearly pass...support the parks.
Indian Springs
Greens are perfect, the best metro park course in my opinion.
A Beautiful and Relaxing Day Playing Golf
Most people will like this course because its is laid out on lots of property within a Metro Park in Natural Surroundings in the suburbs. It is very playable for most levels of players with an excellent Practice Area. Nature abounds on this course with Wild Turkeys, Deer and Fox. It is enjoyable to play because the holes are spread out so you don't have people from adjacent holes playing on your fairway. This course would easily rank around a 85 out of 100 for most golfers.
Hidden charges
Be aware that this is a Metropark and if you don't have an annual sticker, it's $10 to get in. If you are golfing on a hot deal, they will not refund the entrance fee ( you usually get $8 back at pro shop ). That hot deal all of a sudden isn't so hot.
Otherwise, it's a nice course with wide open fairways. Pace can be slower than you might like.
Dress Code
Overall this a nice course with 4 tee boxes to accommodate all levels of "good" golf. Paired up with 2 gentlemen who were just below fair and it made for a long round. 4 Hrs 30 Min. for a threesome. Also one had on a heavy metal type tee shirt and levi shorts. The only good thing was that the other played the senior tee box and that shorten his errors. Lots of seniors playing the whites and caused quite a delay on some boxes. Don't think I will be back
Good and long course but good for golfer that plays a lot
I always love to play this course not too hard and not easy either ladies friendly golf course they only thing for this course you have to pay the park fee which is 10.00 each time you enter the park unless you buy a whole year membership which is 22.00 dollar for senior
Slow
Took us 3 hours to play 9 holes greens were slow
Early in the year
Everything looked like it needed just a little bit more time to Green up the course was overbooked
Meh
The course was just ok. Early season conditions but the layout is somewhat monotonous. There are nice elevation changes but other than that it was ho hum.
The course was jammed up with no ranger to move people along. There was a 10 minute wait at every hole. We skipped two holes; otherwise it would have been a 6 hour round.
I had a Golf Now super deal so I don't feel like I over paid, but I doubt I will ever play here again, even with another deal.
We are aware from previous posts that "effective" marshaling is needed at the course and we are addressing those issues by offering training to the volunteer marshals. We apologize for the lack of marshal visibility as there was mandatory training started that particular morning which kept them off the course until later in the AM.
The course is aware of the "overbooked" feel you experienced. We have addressed this issue by changing our tee time intervals to every 8 minutes in the PM to not put as many groups out per hour as in the past. Please be aware, golf reservations are always maximized whenever it is 75 degrees and sunny such as the day you played and we did have a full house. We appreciate your patronage!
