Flanders Valley Golf Club - Red/Gold Course

About
Flanders Valley Golf Course boasts two championship courses that sprawl across the rolling countryside of Morris County. The facility is considered one of the best public golf courses in New Jersey and has even been ranked as one of the top 75 public courses in the country. The Red-to-Gold Course has a hillier terrain than the other course, White-to-Blue, which has a more traditional design. It is the more challenging of the two courses with mature trees scattered throughout and uneven lies provided by the elevation changes, which also offer scenic views of the idyllic surroundings. The Red-to-Gold's seventh hole is the most difficult of all the 36 holes at Flanders. This tricky par 4 has trees flanking both sides and it is also subject to the prevailing winds.

Good Option
Flanders (Gold-Red) is nice. Provides a good layout, with a good variety of different holes. Greens at the time of play were super true. Just be aware, some tees boxes have hardly any grass. Those tee boxes sit in areas where the sun can’t really get to them. Not a deal breaker whatsoever though.
Gold-Hilly.
Red-Flat, but you’ll have to conquer 16. One of the tougher par 4’s in New Jersey.
You’ll like Flanders.
Great course. Extremely high cart fees.
Played Red and Gold courses and they were great. The layout and greenskeeping were top notch. These greens were some of the best rolling greens I’ve ever played. Super predictable speeds for every single hole. The only thing I didn’t love was that a cart fee was $23. Riding with my buddy cost us almost $50 for a single cart. That is entirely too much for a cart fee. Maybe $20 between the two of us would be fine… but this is just too much. I’ll certainly play here again, but I might be walking.
Expensive
Very expensive public course for non county
But in good condition
Worth It
The course is in good condition. A few weeks after aerating the greens, but the greens are good.
Late day roound
Played this course late in the afternoon had rained hard the day before it was a little wet some of the tea boxes need some maintenance greens were very nice pace of play was decent great snack bar friendly staff a nice relaxing round was had by all
Hurry up and wait...
Play thursday 8/22 cluse had had so e heavy rain days before...greens nice shape, pace of play was good for 5 6 homes then not sure what happened...lots of 2somes out there...some walkers ans NO RANGER.. guys( hackers) in front of us playing multiple balls..... noce chipping putting area.. great snack bar...cart girl was out there doing her thing...good day over all except for pace of play...pair up this doubles and get 4's out on every hole would help..
Great course, greens were rough
Greens had been aerated recently. Between the holes and the sand it was tough putting but a nice course. $80/person for no county card is a little high though (with cart)
Too Slow
Tee boxes are terrible. Sand traps are hard as stone; don’t get into any or else! Carts aren’t available when you start and then they move too slow, are dirty and no gps. Not sure what’s going on at this course. Pace of play is terrible! Left after 13 holes.
Poor Conditions
Many tee boxes were very beat up. There was no sand in the traps. I won't be back
Poor conditions
The practice green should have been the first clue. Some tee boxes were just dirt. The greens were all in bad shape, the some of the tee boxes were just dirt. I will never be back. I play at a Union County golf course. Galloping Hill, and it's a country club in comparison.
Where are the carts?
The golf course had a cart problem by 10Am that morning, hwere all 100 carts were out. This constraint reated some confusion and lended to a messy start for most players. When a cra fee is $21, you'd expect them be avaitable. Course condition was just OK, as alot of the fairways are starting to burn out. cnditions so dry that they felt like cement. Bunkers were worse, as they abrely have a dusting of soft sand on top of a rock hard layer (and some pebbles to mess up your wedges)
