Hillsborough Country Club

About
Hillsborough Country Club is tucked away amongst the foothills of the Sourland Mountains. The golf course overlooks the beautiful Amwell Valley, sprawling across lush rolling hills gently sprinkled with mature trees. The par-70 layout is player friendly enough for all skill levels, it is even gentle enough for beginners. While it may not be what you're looking for if you want a long and challenging test, it's great for a casual round with a few tricky surprises. Accuracy will be generously rewarded but the golf course isn't overly punishing if you're slightly errant. Golfers will come across a fair amount of strategically placed sand traps as well as the occasional water hazard. In addition to the course, you can get even more short game practice in on Hillsborough Country Club's practice chipping and putting greens and there is also a driving range available.

ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT....
I played Hillsborough yesterday with a business associate. The place is extremely dated, which is obvious from the moment you pull up and park your car. The course itself has many pros and cons. The greens are clearly the best part of the course, as they are in absolutely perfect condition!!! That was surprising since a good portion of the tee boxes were loaded with crabgrass. How can you maintain such impeccable greens, when you can’t keep a tee box free of crabgrass???? You also cannot hit out of the bunkers, since they are mostly rock and very little sand. There are areas on the course where there is construction going on, or maybe just never fixed up. There are many areas where there are rocks or danger areas right around the green. Should your ball hit there, you quickly find yourself in trouble.....and it is not intentionally meant to be that way. There were several areas of the course where the fairways were “bald” or burnt, and basically played like cement. In several instances, a dead-straight tee shot down the middle of the fairway winds up rolling off into the woods, resulting in a lost ball. I felt the course was challenging enough. The cons of it simply made play that much worse. While a $35 green fee is attractive, you definitely get what you pay for. I would not necessarily rate this place as horrible, but it is in need of updating and better care. I would consider returning should more care be put into its maintenance.
Greens are in great shape. Fairways..Ehh. Nice layout
Course seem's out dated
Maybe this course had some life back in the day but this place seems out dated. Looks like the course may be under construction as well. (Some cart paths are totally gone)
Not bad price but you'll understand the price once you play.
Greens are not immaculate.
Very hilly course creates a challenge in where you need to hit your tee shots and iron shots. Some shots will bounce in all directions
Great day
the staff was great and the greens were the best I’ve seen them all season. I play this course frequently and although the fairways were beat up a little from recent storms the price is fair and very equivalent to the course. Best bang for your buck!
Probably won’t return
Although the price was great through golf now. I probably won’t be returning to Hillsboro cc because the guy running the place(Drew) makes you feel unwelcome if you book through golf now. Said he hates golf now because he doesn’t make any money from your bookings.. was surprised to hear this as there are other courses I’d like to play that don’t appear on your app so I know if Hillsboro didn’t want golf now customers they wouldn’t be part of the golf now course availability.. anyway not going back there any time soon no matter how financially appealing it is..
I have no idea who would ever give this place a 4 or 5 star review. Was by far the worst course I have played all year. Tee boxes are basically crabgrass, bunkers have no sand only stones and the fairways were completely patchy. Very short course and barely a need for a driver. If you want my opinion drive 10 minutes and play neshanic.
Fun course
The course is relatively a short course and the condition of the course is generally excellent. The fairways and greens are in very good condition, the tee boxes could be better. Greens are well maintained, fast and interesting breaks.
This course is great to help improve on'e's game.. It's very possible to be on the green in 2 for most par 4 and definitely on 3 for all par 5s. The most important thing is course management and this is an excellent course to help you realize that you do not have kill the ball. It was a fun round and would play here again.

Well designed course with some very challenging holes. Will definitely plan another trip. Enjoyed the day
