Pinch Brook Golf Course
About
Pinch Brook Golf Course in Florham Park may be a short course, but it should not be underestimated. The layout offers all the challenges of a championship course conveniently wrapped in an executive-length course. Water hazards come into play on nearly every hole, including a pond on the seventh that is shaped like the state of New Jersey. The elevated and undulating greens putt fast and true. They present a test for even the most seasoned golfers. The par-3 holes are particularly tough. Most of them feature strategically placed bunkers fiercely guarding the double-tiered greens, that or a forced carry. The golf course is great for honing your short game skills or for squeezing in a quick but challenging round. Pinch Brook G.C. is hailed by locals as the best short course in northern New Jersey.

It's okay, be prepared to wait
Par 3 tune up that doesn't care about the conditions or the pace of play. I've played worse, but the pace is a bit nuts. You can finish this course in a little over 2 hours if you have it to yourself. Playing 18 at almost 5 hours is insane.
For a shorter course, it's a decent public faciliity
We have played here before, but I don't remember there being so many par 3's. We had a very warm late December day (65 degrees) so last-minute booking we were able to play nine holes starting at 2:10 PM.
As to be expected, the greens were in pretty rough shape from being frozen a few days before. The pace of play was very good, and rather than having to jump on a plane to get someplace warm, it was a nice 1/2 round of golf.for $20 (walking).
Should be closed
This was a wate of money. Facilities are poor and the course is not maintained. No range, no chipping or bunker practice areas. No sand in bunkers. Leaves all over the course, including greens, fairways, as well as rough. Signage poor. Greens appear trampled and not maintained. Could be a fun course if it was maintained.
PinchBrook
Very pleased especially for time of year. Traps weren’t raked and secondary rough a little high. But considering time of year great condition!!!
All good but two things
As a short (i.e. executive) course, it was a fair test of golf and worth the money. The greens have variety - some fairly straightforward, others with lots of hills and breaks. There's enough water and trees to get your attention without being overly burdensome. It's not a course where using my driver (230+ yds with normal dispersion) often has a great benefit; 200 yards off the tee and in the fairway usually puts a wedge or short iron in your hands. "Play conservatively off the tee and keep your ball below the hole on approach" seems to be the best strategy for every hole.
Two improvements are needed. First, sand is missing from all of the greenside bunkers, which are plentiful on the course. There is only thin dirt and on occasion patches of mud. Second, the autumn leaf management was poor. I saw no maintenance crew manning leaf blowers until noon. Even after their work was completed, if your ball ventured more than 5 yards off the fairway, the odds of it being lost under tons of fallen leaves would be very high.
I like the course; I'll likely wait until the spring to try it again.
Good
The course is was in good shape. Only negatives are the starter could be friendlier, and there’s no attempt to monitor pace if play. Otherwise great experience overall.
Wonderful course
Loved this course. Beautifully maintained, very helpful and friendly staff. Challenging for a short course. But great for developing your short game.
Wonderful Course
Loved this course. We lucked out on perfect weather, but even still, the conditions of the course were spectacular. Greens are undulating, and quite challenging. Best to play with someone who knows the course if it's your first time. Genuinely challenging holds. Lots of Par 3s - great for short game practice. Two beautiful par 5s. Absolutely putting this one on the roster!
