Hopewell Valley Golf & Country Club

Hopewell Valley is a former private club in the hills of NJ. Mercer County golf has taken over this course and they are doing things right. The course may not have top class private course conditioning but with the amount of play they are close to it. The pro shop , starter, and clubhouse employees were all helpfull and pleasant. I hope to play another round here on this beautiful course.

I played 7/26/23 2:40PM. It was my first time. Course was in very nice condition. There was a slow group but there was a golfer with a drastic physical handicap so I had no problem with that. Some nice elevation differences and doglegs. On the easier side but still enjoyable for me. I would definitely come back.

It was very hot, I was walking, I do wish there were water jugs out on the course though.

The layout is awesome, and a lot of the holes off of tee will make you think. They have a grass driving range so get there early for your tee time. Course was in very good shape even after a lot of rain.

This course back in the day was private and you can tell from the clubhouse, swimming pool, tennis courts, etc.

Worth the trip from Bergen County.

Make sure you go to Conte’s after your round. Amazing pizza, and I ranked it a 9.1. Barstool Sports ranked it a 8.9. 10-15 drive from the course for your “19th hole.”

Not a drop of water to drink on the course. The pandemic is over. Put out some water jugs.

Course was in excellent conditions. Greens were perfect. Highly recommend playing here

It was my first time playing the course and the staff from check in to starter to range manager to grill room could not have been more efficient and friendly. The starter gave me the opportunity to play more quickly by moving me to the back nine and joining a group of two players with me as 1 additional player. The back nine is great and we finished in 2 hours on a national holiday.

The course is in excellent condition from tee to green. It is an old private country club currently under Mercer County management, and has largely retained the look and feel of a private club. They have 150 markers which are helpful and carts were allowed to go anywhere when I played. There are many green fairly large side sand traps and they could use more rakes.

I’ve always been curious to play here. And with the County taking it over, I took the opportunity to catch a $25 dollar deal in the afternoon. Pace of play was slow from people a couple groups in front of us. After 9, they must’ve left and it went smooth the back 9. I was impressed with the course conditions. People were friendly. The layout is cool. And something to eat at the turn was appreciated. I’ll be golfing here again for sure!
