Aeration
There should be some advance notice for greens that are aerated. Putting is impacted due to this condition. Rest of course was in good condition.
Gettin better all the time
Hanover has been around a long time and it's near it's best now. Well designed, it offers golfers of all levels a nice venue at a great value!! It's not a country club but well worth a go around at least once!!!
WOW
Extremely beautiful course have driven by back end dozens of times and wanted to play, got the chance and enjoyed every moment will be returning with friends.
Hanover
Course in good shape, greens in good shape. One or two greens need some help.
I have been playing Hannover for over 10 years and the shape the course is in is Terrible. If Robert Trent Jones 3 was here today to see the condition is back nine was in he would be mortified. All of the back nine hole layout signs are ripped down, the tee boxes are in bad shape and uneven and the grass seems to be not cut. For how nice of a course this used to be for the price it is just depressing now
Beware of the early morning round!
We had the first tee time and the guys were already out mowing fairways and tee boxes.
Unfortunately, nothing was done to the greens. They were covered in dew. LOTS OF IT! When I asked if they were gonna be whipping the greens the ranger said "We don't do that here. Never had. Would be nice, but we don't". The greens were slow and wet for about 2 1/2 hours (15 holes for us).
The fairways and tee boxes were in good shape. The rough was challenging - deep and thick. There were some bare spots around a few greens. Bunkers are decent and playable.
Hitting and STAYING IN the fairway is key!!! Unpaved cart paths and hard pan come into play if you miss some fairways by LITERALLY a few feet (grossly unfair - you must know to avoid these bare spots as if they are hazards).
At the end of the day, I feel the MOST IMPORTANT parts of a golf course are the greens. No matter how good you are, you can't score if you can't putt - and putting on a wet greens that leaves a roster tail means - YOU CAN'T PUTT! The course has challenging greens which are usually fast and true - one of the reasons we play the course. Getting above the hole is usually a mistake here - as it should be! Today, even from above the hole, you had to hammer putts to get there! BAD!!!!"
We will be playing our morning rounds elsewhere if there's even a chance that there was a morning dew.
Much improved
Played this past Friday. Busy day with a tournament being held. The ranger (talvin?) did a great job circling the tract and keeping everything in order. And he did it with a smile! Signs of improvement since my last visit earlier this year: teeboxes were very nice, some traps have new sand,, greens were rolling fast and true, Work still needed on hole 7, but judging from other noted improvements it's just a matter of time. Happy to see positive change!
Give it a try!
Great improvements over the last 5 years. Range grass hitting section is great, practice putting green is below average. Course is great!!!! Fairways are in good conditionsa nd the greens are beautiful, playable, yet challenging. New golfers will be able to play, but experienced golfers will be challenged even with their lack of sand and water. After your round head inside and grab a drink at the bar! Price is fair for their course quality, but man this place really needs some publicity. Memberships are extremely cheap for a course this good.
Worth a Visit!
I have played this course several times over the past 30 years and always found it to be just average. I have played it twice this month and will definitely played it several more times this year. It was in the best shape from tee to green that I have ever seen it. The greens are in perfect condition, true and fast. There is certainly the potential for three putt nightmares. Overall, I give it a solid thumbs up!
Front 9 doable, Back 9 difficult
Really enjoyed playing course although it was a rather warm day & took some of the fun out of it. Front 9 are fairly easy but the Back 9 seem longer & quite a bit more difficult. I love a challenge though so I am sure I will be back in the near future.
challenging greens
golf course was in great condition (fairways and greens) stay out of the ruff very thick and lush. greens were a little quick, and with the windy conditions were a real challenge. enjoyed the day and the course.
Not bad!
Fairways are way too close to each other, balls are flying all over the place. Slow play takes the fun out of the game. Other than that, you can't beat it with the price.
The course shut down 9 holes without any advisory , I understand this time of year for aeration, but before you drive an hour should should be made aware of conditions
Bad Day At Hanover Golf
The course greens and some of the fairways were not well maintained, especially the greens; bumpy, not even and bare areas.
Just great a value!
A friend of mine with a negative opinion about Hanover from an oddly mysterious experience at the course a few years back has discouraged me to play at the course. In spite of his discouraging opinion I went to play with another friend of mine, a better golfer than bogie players like me with a favorable opinion about Hanover in October this year and we both had a marvelous round of golf, meeting another two some players. Nothing to complain about the course, from the beginning to the end of round! Pace of play, friendly staff, free fresh self service coffee and a cozy space to spend time with friends before and after the game. Just a great value for the price as either as a member or a golfnow.com player. I returned to play at the course once more in November.
Stay on the fairways
Front nine is very flat and fairly easy Back nine is hilly and more difficult. areas off the fairways are dirt and tree roots. Bunkers and cart paths need help. Tees are being improved and new ones are being built and should be ready in the spring. Best hole is the last, a long down hill par five about 600 yards, that is really fun to play. The course is perfect for the average player. Better players will find it to easy.
Hanover Golf Course
This was the first time I played this course. It was well laid out and in great shape despite the hot dry summer. I thought the yardage was good and the greens were fast and challenging. I would highly recommend this course.
Greens are good, rough are too long
Staff are very nice and friendly. Greens are fast and true. The rough are long and grown in at least 20 yards into the fairways. It makes the fairways only 30 yards wide. We would have enjoy the course a lot more if they can cut the fairway 15-20 yards wider and 1 inch shorter.
