Excellent
I play a lot of golf. From NJ originally but live in Florida now. This course is beautiful, especially this time of year in the fall. I don’t see how people are reviewing it bad. It blows away most courses in Florida and is right with the best in the area here. There’s a few beat up greens on the back nine, but besides that the fairways, tee boxes, and greens are in great condition. Pace on a Monday afternoon was great.. finished my round as a solo in 2:45. Highly recommended.
Condition is not worth the money
I normally don’t post reviews but after being charged 85$ to play a course where the greens were absolutely horrendous and barely playable, I felt like I had to.
I wouldn’t recommend playing this course to anyone. The layout is great but the conditions are terrible. Multiple greens were clearly just dug to have seeding redone. A few holes I literally putted out of a patch of stomped down 4 leaf clovers.
The fairway was patchy and inconsistent. I wouldn’t mind if I paid 35 but this isn’t frog rock and 85$ Is crazy. Don’t play until they take action.
Beautiful course
Everything seems to be repaired very nicely. Greens rolls great. Scenery is magnificent. Hopefully management keeps course conditions in this top shape from now on.
On the return!
First time playing here, been playing most courses in the tri-state throughout the summer and don't see what past reviewers are complaining about?
From tee boxes to greens all were recovering just fine, even seen plenty of new root growth under fairway divots.
All staff I met were courteous and friendly and working hard to make this course great again.
Book a tee time and just enjoy the time out!
Last minute
$48 is a good value IMO
4 hour round.
New GK is trying to fix inherited green, FW & tee box issues.
No restaurant/bar Monday.
do not play
I'd have a hard decision to make if this course was free to play. It's not really golf out there, some of them can't even be called "greens." All they should be charging for is the cart fee. I write this sadly because this course ~10ish years ago was a hidden gem. A few of these greens are really on the edge of being completely lost, this course needs to be shutdown and rebuilt, like the NY Jets. Unfortunately both will slog on, barely resembling a golf course or a NFL team.
Sad condition & pro shop staff
Let’s start with the course. The tee boxes were in rough shape, full of divots. At least four of the greens had very little grass left and were overrun with crabgrass.
The pro shop experience wasn’t much better. The staff member was rude, and right after I paid, he literally rushed out to the driving range to scoop up all the unused balls. As he walked past me carrying bags of them, I asked if he left any for me. His response was, “There are some out there.” Sure enough, I found about 10 balls scattered across several mats. Appreciate it, buddy.
An unloved course
Deerwood is in such bad condition it should be called just "Wood" because even the deer don't want to bother with the course. The course layout is Amazing!! But clearly no one takes care of the course . A good crew who cares and a dog to keep geese & groundhog off the course would be an absolute game changer. The course should list it for sale saying "gr8 course 4 sale to a good home"
Avoid
The fairways are extremely spotty w good grass and no grass. Same with the greens, if they’re cut and in decent shape, awesome. But there’s been 3-4 greens not cut at all and most of them have huge dirt and sand spots. Don’t come here, $78 is not worth it AT ALL.
Nice course
Very nice layout of the course. Not too many par 5s. Our carts didn't have sand bottles, but the fairways were desperately in need of divot repair. The greens were in good shape with the exception of the issues they're having on the back to back par 3 holes on the back 9. Very poor. They've had a lot of rain earlier in the summer which may have taken a toll on the course. I would go back again.
Multiple holes that weren’t playable
3 holes on the course that weren’t playable because the greens were just sand and dirt
Nice layout and friendly staff
This course has good bones and could be a great course with the right course management. My golf cart didn't have any sand bottles which is desperately needed for this course. The excessive rain and temperatures earlier this year took a major toll on the fairways and some of the greens---especially par 3's on the back 9. I liked the course and would gladly return. Hopefully they can bring it back to its full potential.
Horrible conditions
As of August 2025, Deerwood is in the worst condition I have ever seen. About 1/3 of the greens are completely unplayable, a mix of bare dirt and crab grass. It is shameful that they are charging people to play in these conditions. Do not spend your money here.
