Better than courses that charge a lot more
I play this course a few times a month and it is a great value compared to what others are charging. They keep the course in great shape NOW and the rate are well under what Knob hill charges (and a better layout also).I play most of the public courses in Monmouth, Middlesex ,Ocean counties and it is always my first choice to play.
Bring a rangefinder.
The only negative about the course was some beat up tee boxes. Fairways, rough and greens were in pretty good shape. Front 9 is flatter and plays fairly easy. But the back 9 is much tougher and requires some shot placement. The back is also hilly with many more sloped greens. Very few yardage markers and due to elevation changes on the back 9 requires extra clubs.
Pace of play was actually quite good, considering cart path only and many times had to walk across the fairway to opposite side despite the course being pretty dry. Still played in about 4hours.
Golf round
The golf course is in good condition. Good price. Pace of play is ok. A little tougher for a 2-3 x a month golfer like me. Otherwise recommended for everyone
Nice and tight
Nice course to play. Very affordable. Challenging holes. Greens great shape. Just wish more people would fix their check marks.
Course in Good Condition
The course was in really good shape, especially the greens and tee boxes. The fairways are much improved also. The only complaint I have is that the greens on the back 9 were way slower than the greens on the front 9.
nice course
this course has a very nice layout, greens roll very nice , big generous greens, nice finishing hole 18 is almost 600 yards, be smart on this hole if your not a long hitter!
Great shape for time of year
Nice course. In good condition for time of year. Greens smooth an d on quick side.
Challenge Finding Ball
If you play this course you better hit the ball straight. The rough is the deepest I've ever seen. My husband had a real problem finding his balls. No distance makers, no GPS. At least the price was right.
Decent Experience
This was a fun course to play. The front nine are very straight forward and the back nine a bit more challenging but not overwhelming. the fairways were in great shape as well as the greens, however, the rough looked... well... rough. sparse vegetation, hard compact dirt. I was fortunate to do a lot of play from the fairways otherwise it would have been a frustrating day.
Best kept secret in NJ
In the last few years I play this course about 15-20 times a year because it is (dollar for dollar at average $ 30.00 round) the best bang for your buck. I love the 18th hole (600 yards from the back tee boxes) and the challenge it represents. This course is a Robert Trent Jones design. The greens..........well, don't go past the pin or your likely to 3 putt them all. The best part of the course is the condition of the greens. I play all over the state and these greens, although a bit slower than some, are in great condition. Yes the fairways and tee boxes are not 4 Star but which course is this year. Playing from the Whites vs Blue tee boxes can be a good 6-8 shot difference on round.
One and Done
Layout and tee boxes were ok. Greens were good and consisent. Fairways had some significant water damage due to the recent periods of heavy rain and then heat. Cart girl was around often. The cart person, James I think, was rude and ignored us even though we were the only ones standing there. We finally asked if we should just take a cart. He told us to wait and he would be with us in a minute. He then turns around and tells us to take cart 84. We had to wait for that? Cart 84 backfired at least fifteen times during the round. Left a bad taste to the day. I have worked at 3 NJ courses so understand the business. Not welcoming to newcomers.
Poorly maintained
Fairways are poorly maintained, along with the second cut and just off the greens. I seem to always have a problem with another group on the course when I go here too. Stuck behind obnoxious foursome with no golf etiquette, a group in front blarring music from their iphones, and players cutting in front on tee times. Not a bad course if they addressed the maintenance and I guess I'm just unlucky with the players in front of me at this course.
Moderately fair
The fairways were in good shape, rewarded good drives. Greens were very receptive and the ball held the lines of your putt. The rough was a little unfair, We had trouble finding our balls only a foot or two off the fairway. Overall, because of the length of the holes, you could play a more accurate game by using irons off the tee. I would definitely recommend this course.
Greens in great shape and very tricky for so early in the season
Course needs TLC but overall a nice place to play for the money.
Bang for the buck
The greens were under repair and the grass really hadn't came back since from winter. The layout is great and the front 9 and back 9 are totally different, almost like two different courses. I am going to go back in about a month and see how it looks after some warm weather. All considered I thought its was a great value.
WINTER ONLY
had to play the ball up everywhere, no grass, greens were good for january condition,, price was right
Crab grass is overtaking the fairways.
The layout has rolling hills and some fun and challenging holes. But it needs better groundskeeping.
fairways not in good shape need some fertilizer
I played this course about 2 year's ago ans found the. Course in very good. Condition and the starter i believe his name was George was less than. Friendly and did not. Return until now And now just the opposite staff great course not so great as far as condition the layout is awsume!
