Weequahic Park Golf Course

Nice little track. Not far from the blue tips but till challenging! Thick rough greens nice but a bit slow. Staff friendly. Good value! Close to EWR airport. Had a fox on number 9 who wouldn’t move away from my ball, Hence the title of the review.

No golf carts because of the rain the day before? No phone call to let us know. Very upsetting day to have to walk in 90 degree heat. Will not go back again.

Overall this course gets a “meh” rating. Not a bad way to spend a morning or afternoon, but won’t be bending over backwards to head back any time soon. Let’s just put it this way, there’s a reason that there’s always so many tee times available on such short notice.

First, the good: greens were decent as were the fairways. Overall quite an easy course. Very few traps and no water hazards.

The not-so-good: I played on a 95 degree day so the complete lack of amenities was especially noticeable. No water coolers anywhere on the course. There was a water guy who came around selling bottles around the 11th tee, but he didn’t take credit and we had no cash so we were up the creek. Luckily we brought water with us but could have been a dangerous situation if we’d forgotten to do so. No ball cleaners anywhere. The pro shop had literally nothing. You could t even buy a sleeve of balls if you wanted to.

In a nutshell, this is the most no frills course I’ve ever played on. And I’ve played on some bad courses. If you do choose to play here, you’ll enjoy the round as long as you come prepared. Otherwise you may be wishing the round is over by the turn.

The only downside to this experience was the marshal's attitude at the first tee. A bit pushy. I understand pace of play is important, but rushing a late 4th player to tee off when the next 4some doesn't tee off for another 5 minutes is unnecessary. Would still play here again.

Wasn’t expecting much given the location, but turned out to be a pretty nice, well-kept course. Occasionally got backed up on some holes and played with a threesome I caught up to. Greens seemed to be a little on the slow side which took a while to figure out, but I enjoyed some nice long drives off the tee into some wide open fairways. Not the most difficult or easiest, but being that close to NYC and in good shape for that price makes it worth it for me.

The course is in excellent condition this year. Greens are really nice. And the course is more than challenging enough for golfers above a 10 handicap. Jerry's crew is doing an amazing job taking great care of the course.

A nice course in downtown Newark,NJ. $87 for both me and my wife with a cart. Greens were quite slow but no surprise as many other municipal courses are as well. A good course for someone learning the game or getting back into it. Just the right amount of slope. Not too narrow.

Really gem of a course and only a 20 min drive from the city. Greens were excellent as well as the entire course.

Course was great. But after 9 holes we pretty much had to wait on every shot.

Repeat players. Great course for the money. Enjoy playing there. Everyone is very friendly except the starter. Has an attitude, more than one time. He's there for us, we're not there for him. Not going to let it ruin our fun. Take it from where it comes. Mr. personality.
