This course is always well maintained . the staff is also very friendly and couteous

Course is a true test of your golfing capabilities, long par 4's, a shot makers delight, must not gamble on where to place your shot. Medium to Fast greens, tricky to read. Excellent course a must play for the true golfer!

Trouble today was the golf now app service was slow to bring up reservations, frost delays had our group of 4 waiting 2hrs to get on for a 4.5hour round. But... Was good, but soft after the rain (no carts walking only for this day) but we'll worth it and Essex County member discounts apply. Recommend.

Despite playing right after a rain storm, I enjoyed the course overall. The price was a little high for a municipal course, but the conditions are also slightly better than other ones so that partially makes up for it. I would recommend this course if you are in the Newark area.

Short tight course that's been updated over the past few years. You shouldn't play here if you need a stuffy old traditional and exclusive environment. Only come if you want to play a fair course with friendly and diverse golfers who appreciate the game.

I treated my longtime friend to a round at Weequahic. She's an avid 4th year golfer. It was her first time here. We were both happy with the look of the new clubhouse and parking lot. My friend The staff, especially Jim, made my guest feel welcome and enthusiastic about the course and the game.

Since my friend's drives average 200+ yards, she loves to play from the whites or blues with me. We played exactly at our level and briskly: front 9 in 90 minutes and back 9 in 100 minutes. She only gave up one stroke on me for an 88.

Course strengths: Price for in county with card for me was $22 and for my guest was $35. Renovations to parking lot and clubhouse. Weekday pace of play. Look and feel of fairways. Cold water kegs housed in functional and aesthetic stands and strategically placed near several tees.

Areas of improvement: The greens needed mowing; they were all too grainy and slow IMHO. Occasional urban noise: car engines and horns, responder sirens, air traffic, party music(!). On the walk down to hole 2 green, my friend noticed that 3 fast food sandwich wrappers were laying in the middle of the fairway. It is the only time that I've seen that level of trash anywhere on the course. I made a note of it to the clubhouse staff. There should be a bar!! Let's make it happen people!

Country Club environment during the work week! Super quite, true greens, nice fairways, and a lot of fun..

You dont need a cart. Holes 9 and 18 are a tough walk..

Essex spent over 1m$ in renovations. Its made a considerable difference.. PGA type par5 #10 will keep you interested.. make sure to take a look back down the fairway once on the green.. Great selfie!!!!!

For some reason they have OB on 11.12.13.. doesnt make sense!!! Course is tooooo tight for that

... since the last time a played here. The changes to the 10th and 11th hole are excellent. The 10th is a "Redan",

bunker fronting left as the green slopes away diagonally, right to left. 11 is a monster par 5 finishing up hill. Over all conditions are okay, greens slow and bumpy though. I renew my protest with regards to the internal out of bounds.

This course is fun, Good condition for a muni that gets a lot of play. A must to keep it in the fairway, because of trees and hardpan. Greens had a lot of movement, but a little on the slow side. Only draw back is the internal out of bounds on 11,12, 13 and 14.
