Nestled in the hills of Scotts Mountain, Harkers Hollow Golf Club was carved from a sloping hillside, giving it a challenging terrain with plenty of elevation changes. Opened in 1929, the golf course has a classic layout designed by Robert White, the first president of the PGA of America. Although it is a seemingly mild 6,551 yards from the back tees, the course plays much longer and harder thanks to the undulating terrain. The layout does offer a few lengthy holes as well as some interesting par 3s. The greens are small and fast with breaks ranging from subtle to dramatic. There is hardly any water but the Lopatcong Creek does run the entire length of the golf course and requires the occasional carry. The par-3 fifth hole is the club's signature. It is particularly notable for its scenery, which is why it has served as the backdrop for many weddings.

Scenic Course

Well maintained, with some challenging holes. Only negatives were slow pace of play, and lack of a driving range (if you’re like me and need several holes to remember how to swing a golf club).

Muddy

Probably not the best time to go the day after a major storm. Bad drainage on this course. It was very wet and muddy. Extremely hilly so don’t go when you can’t get a cart. Good exercise day. Glad I brought my inhaler. LOL

first time there, challenging layout, considering the recent hot weather fairways in decent shape, greens in good shape except one, some tee boxes need work, staff was great. Not sure who the owners are but well worth the price and would recommend it to other first timers.

thank you.

Walked

On the way back

Greens and bunkers as good as any I've played this summer. Tees and fairways still need help. Considering this course was closed for years, it seems to be on the way back to being very good. The price for weekend play was excellent.

Nice but a little rough

Walked with another senior and two in a cart from front tees. Pace was generally good. Course is best played from white tees if your drives go longer than 240. From front tees, I hit many sand wedge approaches. Greens were fair and interesting. Due to recent dry weather there were many hard pan lies. Overall a nice exercise round and some fun putts.

Nice course for the money! Well maintained greens and fairways.

This was my first time playing Harkers Hollow and I really enjoyed the course, had some simple layouts on the front but the back was really challenging. Overall the course was in really good shape and clearly well maintained. Marshalls were all over the place keeping the pace of play on track. Will definitely play again, almost as nice as Architects for 1/2 the price!

Good track fun to play but...

Enjoyed our round all but one green were great soft and good roll. They need ranges to move the pace of play. There was a group of 4 hitting multiple tee shots on every tee. I am not Tiger but come on they held up 4 groups. It made the round slightly less enjoyable. Now the other positives. Friendly staff, well maintained and great value. I will play there again
