Harkers Hollow Golf Club
About
Nestled in the hills of Scotts Mountain, Harkers Hollow Golf Club was carved from a sloping hillside, giving it a challenging terrain with plenty of elevation changes. Opened in 1929, the golf course has a classic layout designed by Robert White, the first president of the PGA of America. Although it is a seemingly mild 6,551 yards from the back tees, the course plays much longer and harder thanks to the undulating terrain. The layout does offer a few lengthy holes as well as some interesting par 3s. The greens are small and fast with breaks ranging from subtle to dramatic. There is hardly any water but the Lopatcong Creek does run the entire length of the golf course and requires the occasional carry. The par-3 fifth hole is the club's signature. It is particularly notable for its scenery, which is why it has served as the backdrop for many weddings.

The new owners, in my opinion, have done and are doing a very good job with this course. It used to be a mess just a couple of years ago, it’s actually playable and enjoyable again.
Nice round
I enjoyed the round. Fairways need water, but greens were well kept and were challenging. I’ll play here again.
Great Challenging Course
I would play this course once a week if i lived closer to it!
They really are starting to turn things around here!
Absolutely get over there and play!
Not much improved from last year.
Not sure if it’s because it have not rained much, but the fairways are so dry and dusty. Greens are not as bad, except for some that have patches with no grass at all. Was hoping new ownership had improved it a lot, based on emails sent out.
Very nice
Course is getting much better or so I am told by others at the course today. Had a very nice day.
Nicer then expected
Negative comments from folks that had played there prior. Enjoyed our round. Nice track, great pace of play, all greens were in great shape except one. Course could use a little TLC. Needs some watering in certain areas and this will get worse as temps increase.
Fun course, difficult layout
Had a fun time playing this course, however I know they've been working hard to get it back in shape. The mountains makes this course difficult to keep the ball in the fairway since your barely ever hitting flat surface. The fairways are hard so if you're good at playing "Pan" style golf ( harder surface) you'll be OK. Tee boxes definitely need the most work. Greens where in good shape. Not sure or not if I would play there again though...
harkers hollow
not bad only 1 green had fungus =greens were good place was fast-hard -needs rain but over all I was pleasantly surprised new sand in traps good deal on golfnow!!!!!!!!!!!4 stars!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great Recovery Going On
4 years ago would have never gone back here. New Ownership is doing a wonderful job of bringing this course back to life. Only things left is to work on tee boxes.
Great day out on this scenic Golf Course
So glad it’s being brought back to its glory days
I’ve played Harker’s on and off for quite some time now, and had stopped back before it was taken over by the new team. It was a shame, the course was really let go and it just became too frustrating to play. WELL NOT NOW! The greens today were playing better than they were 5 years ago, the fairways are coming in nicely and the manicures of the fairways/rough/tees and greens are really good. The tee boxes are still making their ways back, and some of the rough areas, I do hope that they eventually upgrade the sand quality in the bunkers. Anyways, You can tell that they are busting their humps to get this place back on the map. I applaud everyone involved for the work being done. And I will absolutely recommended it to anyone. Job well done folks.
It's will Forever be "Slopey" - as in Mountain Golf
Not sure slopey is even a word, but what I mean is the course was built one hundred years ago into the base / foothill of a Warren County NJ "mountain", so that will never change. Therefore, many and I mean many of the holes involve severe slope either left to right, or right to left - or severe uphill or downhill shots. It's hard enough to hit a fairway in golf, but when many tee shots fall off to the left or right, especially on the back nine, be prepared for your approach shots to be from the rough, and I mean "rough." - While this course HAS MADE SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS in terms of condition, especially the greens, which were VERY NICE, the fairways, rough and tee boxes still need a few years of improvement. Kudos to the new owners who are making great strides! But did I say improvement? Yes, plan on having to "improve" your lie in essentially everywhere your ball lands. I needed to improve my lie in almost every fairway and rough. The fairways were hard and not very plush. Again, I am NOT saying it wasn't a decent day on the golf course, but the fairways and tee boxes still need help. Conversely, the greens were beautiful - never a Flat putt though. Overall - this is a tough course in my opinion. Do not let the yardage fool you, this course is tough to score well on for the average golfer. It's the kind of course you'll need to play at least 4 or 5 times to "know" where to land your ball. I definitely recommend giving Harkers Hollow a try though - and then would like to see how your "review" compares to mine. Enjoy Your Round!
Worth checking out
After years of neglect, this course has really seen some major improvements since the management change. Serene landscape, great amenities, friendly and flexible staff, awesome snack shack at the 9th and grill/bar at the end. Though I didn't have a chance to check it out, they also have a huge pool for the family.
Definitely worth checking out. Beautiful course, forgiving but challenging course.
Marked improvements
First time playing since new owners took over. Many improvements, notably the greens and bunkers. Fairways are decent but tee boxes are still awful. It's obvious they are spending the time and money to improve this great layout. Will definitely be back!
No clue why this is so low rated
Great course especially for the price. Spent more to play at much worse places. Will be back!
