Warrenbrook Golf Course
About
Warrenbrook Golf Course is one of five courses operated by the Somerset County Park Commission. Although it is a seemingly mild 6,372 yards from the back tees, don't let the yardage fool you. This course is a formidable test. The layout is very tight, routed through dense stands of mature trees that loom above the fairways and frame the greens. In addition to being heavily wooded, the rolling terrain provides many tricky ups and downs ranging from subtle to dramatic. You'll be hard-pressed to find a flat lie on this golf course and you should also be prepared for a few blind shots. To top it all off, there are also a few strategically placed bunkers. Your accuracy will be put to the test at Warrenbrook Golf Course, as will your course-management skills.

Good value for money
The course is in great shape however the greens are a bit too slow and not in top condition .
Challenging with undulating greens and some blind shots mixed in.
The course played better than expected. There was a good pace of play, challenging tee shots and blind approach shots mixed in, with undulating greens.
Warren Brook GC
Many holes have their own characteristics and difficult level. I think the golfers can enjoy setting up the strategy and the execution. Thanks for the good course.
Tight and slow and noisy
Overall we liked this course. It's fun, challenging and the greens are true. It's a tight course, many trees but very doable for an average golfer. It's hilly and there are blind shots but that's ok, like I said it's fun. However, if I have to complain it's mostly with the golfers who play here. They are the loudest noisiest and don't give a care about anyone but themselves and their local buddies. Outsiders don't seem welcome. Some of the tees are close to each other and they scream and laugh and party it up without any regard to other players. That's just rude. One older local duffer playing alone drove up to us to complain about the slow play caused by two groups of twos ahead of us. He actually started banging his clubs around in his bag while my son was teeing off. Really? Like I said, on most courses there is ediquette and certainly respect for other players, not here.
Well maintained, challenging course
Played this past Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed the round. The course is in excellent shape. It is a parkland style course so many holes have narrow fairways with woods on either side. Pace of play was a little slow but it's expected on a Sunday afternoon in a parkland course because of people searching for their ball in the wooded areas. But don't let that stop you from playing this course on a weekend or any other day. It's well worth playing.
Scenic course with fairly easy greens.
The course is overall in god condition. I played after 3 days of heavy rain so the grounds were soggy. A few bunkers were full of water so we can tell that they should work on the drainage there.
Overall I enjoy playing there and will go back.
Golf at a great deal
Great deal for a good county course. No waiting. Arrived 20 mins before tee time and off I went. Course is in good shape.
Blind shots and some funky topography, but this is a great course.
All the reviews are true about the blind shots. There are a bunch of them but overall the course wasn't as difficult as I anticipated it being . There were maybe two holes that were crazy but other than that it was great. We wound up getting caught behind a league when toward the end of the round (a little head's up would've been nice)but the pace of play up to that point (14th or 15th hole) was great. Look forward to playing this course again sometime soon.
Nice shape early in the year
A nice, challenging course with a number of frustrating blind shots!
But course in nice shape and a good value.
Great deal good course early in the season.
Course was in good shape with fast punched greens. Pace of play was excellent 3 hour pace.
Beautiful mountain style course with tight tree lined fairways
Beautiful mountain style course with tight tree lined fairways.
This course isn't terribly long but certainly not short either. It does require you be accurate and not wide since there isn't much room off the fairways and trees will gobble up your ball. I love it though. I find it to be challenging in a great way. Not too much water but there are well placed bunkers.
Classic Tree Lined Course
The course is very pretty in the fall with the many trees lining the fairways but also makes it more challenging to find balls hiding under leaves. So, I would suggest playing before the leaves fall. The course was not crowded (maybe because it was fall so we played 18 holes in 3 hours and 40 minutes - great pace of play). I hit the ball straight so I enjoyed the course but if you have a slice or hook, you won't like the tree lined fairways.
The course has a number of holes with blind shots to the greens but that made it more interesting. For the men playing from the back tee on the 2nd hole, there is a lookout platform (next to the tee box) so your partner can watch where your ball lands. For the second shot, from the fairway, there is a " sliver star" nailed on a tree (behind the green) so you can aim at it for your shot onto the middle of the green.
The negative for the course is the yardage on the Par 3s from the forward tees. Hole 4 is 152 yards and hole 6 is 170 yards; which means most women must use a driver - that is poor course design for forward tees on par 3s. Also, the 17th hole approach shot to the green is over water, which means you have to layup if you are not long off the tee; so it plays like a par 5 for women (not a par 4).
The course does not take you back to the club house at the turn so make sure to take water and snacks. There is a vending machine by the 10th hole.
Overall it is a nice course and has a classic New England feel. For me, the course had a mix of easy holes and challenging holes which is why I rate it somewhat challenging. I like some challenge so I like this course.
great time
The greens were awesome. The par 5's were a little too difficult for my liking. Big dog legs with over hanging trees made them impossible
Mixed feelings about blind shots and surprises
In all, this course is a good value. As everybody else says about this course, there are many "surprises," if you do not know the course well. Blind shots, sloping fairways. You expect your ball in the center of the fairway only to find that your ball rolls off into the bush. This is the norm of this course. Is the course fair? I let everyone else judge. Fun place to play, though.
Course has a lot of Blind Shots.
I was lucky to paired with a Local named Joe ,who knows the course pretty well.He was my GPS and Caddy at the same time.we started around 2:00 pm and finished around 5pm. The Staff and Starter were all nice.
Like it, or Hate it...
You have about those two options on this course -- like it or hate it. I happen to like it. A lot. Very tight and tree-lined. Definitely not a bomber's course. Can't play fairway to fairway here, but hit your spots and you will have a nice card to show for it.
Greens were a little slow, but nothing that couldn't be resolved with a little extra attention.
Staff always a pleasure here. If they can get you right out they will, if not they will tell you so.
Nothing at the turn, save for a soda machine, so put a Power Bar in your bag if you think you might get the hungries.
Thumbs up, for me.
Not a bad little course
Had fun, but some of the fairways were chopping. Too often hitting off patchy grass or dirt. Some decent water challenges and fun par-3s. Good for the average golfer, but better players might not find it difficult enough. One problem would be the blind shots. Way too many of them.
A fun tight course
This was a fun day. The course conditions were good and so was the pace of play. My group wasn't fast but we weren't rushed and we were teeing off just as the twosome in front of us got off most greens. The only thing lacking was food/snacks on the course and bug spray. There were a lot of gnats were hanging around the greens which was annoying but not intolerable. Over all it was a very fun day.
Really fun layout
Course was in great shape. Lots of blind shots but fair. Not too long. Would definitely recommend playing this track.
Excellent course
I had a great time. The course is in great shape and I wouldn't hesitate to go back.
